  1. Cheers dude We'll be looking for one around the end of the month or sometime into next month.
  2. Mick I've been meaning to ask. What sort money would pick up a 98-00 R1? My friend loves his Hondas but I've got him wanting an early R1 now. We're not sure what sort of budget we'd need to get one. Any info you may have would be greatly appreciated. Cheers
  3. A friend and I will be doing the exact same thing very soon. As far as I'm aware, there was no real issues with these bikes so it will probably just be the usual checks like head bearings, excess corrosion etc. Also just make sure it hasn't been raced.
  4. DEP are the most popular systems on DTs. They're a bit expensive but the power gains are significant. Leave gearing standard or add 1 tooth to the front sprocket at the very most. Regardless of what chavs might tell you, fitting bigger front/smaller rear sprockets on a DT will not improve your top speed and you will cause it to bog down in top gear. The theory is correct but a DT simply cannot produce sufficient power to benefit from the lengthened gearing.
  5. Where the f**k did my post go?! Bike looks wicked man Not made my mind up whether I should sell my sportbike and go back to the Enduro/SM side...
  6. Lol my stubby is about half that length. Sounds pretty mad.
  7. Should be able to pick up a Cat for about £1400-1500 in good condition. Check downpipes for excessive rust and just do the usual checks. Most of them have done between 15k and 35k when buying second hand.
  8. Frame number on headstock. Engine number on oil filler side of engine.
  9. Remove rubber airbox snorkel which you will find under the seat. Have exhaust system completely gutted out or invest in a DEP exhaust system. Go up two sizes on the main jet and you're set.
  10. Check out Akrapovic cans as they sound really nice, or at least mine does. I've currently got a custom made Venom Stubby Can fitted which makes the bike sound like it belongs on a racetrack. Fueling is off but it only affects it below midrange.
  11. The gears will likely be longer meaning you're bogging down more easily. Trick is to keep it on the gas all the time and try to keep momentum.
  12. That bike is sexual Been umming and arring about selling the Thundercat and going back to Enduro/Supermoto bikes but can't make my mind up.
  13. Most of the plastics will have to be from Yamaha unfortunately. You can get the front mudguard off a YZ straight on though. I fitted a KTM one to mine which I thought looked quite aggressive and bit different.
  14. Did this run in memory of a friend who recently passed and also a friend who was involved in an accident and was in hospital at the time. Was an absolutely brilliant day and I can't wait to do it again. Took some pics as I progressed which are nice to look at and remember the nice weather and a calm ride over to the seaside
  15. Dynojet kit and professional setup on a rolling road should help to smoothen the curve out. Besides that I dunno, spose you could turbocharge it
  16. Wear rate on the tyres looks to be pretty good so far. Wear rate of my shoes is not so good lol
  17. I'm not so sure it was an 07. Pretty sure they stopped selling Thundercats back in 2003. As far as I'm aware, the only Yamaha 600 sportsbikes on the market are R6s.

I personally rate the Pilot Powers. Had a Diablo on the rear which is meant to be a good tyre but I beg to differ. It was susceptible to wheelspin when cornering and squared off in no time.
  19. Remove seat and pull out the airbox snorkel which will allow for more air flow. Have exhaust chopped open and completely hollowed out and then go up a jet size or two. If you want to leave stock exhaust unmolested then go buy a DEP system. Don't need to touch powervalve except for decoking and occasional re-alignment. The RE/X models (04 onwards) should have a green wire behind headlight somewhere which needs earthing out to a suitable spot.
  20. I recently got a set of Pilot Powers on my Cat. Can't say a bad thing about them to be honest. They hardly need warming up and seem to handle straight runs pretty well in terms of squaring off. I suppose the only downside is that all my shoes are wearing out really fast due to the amount of lean you get.
  21. I'd run the engine and check for any leaks. When I bought my DT I had a leak from the shaft that my front sprocket bolts onto and the kickstart side engine casing was leaking badly as well. Can't think of many places it could be leaking that badly though. Check the cylinder base gasket isn't letting anything out.
  22. If you can get your float bowl off you can note the jet sizes and I can tell you if anything is wrong on that count. Any mods to the bike at all?
  23. For that bike you want an NGK BR8ES. Check your fuel mix as well as you might be running a bit lean.
