My DTR came from someone who did exactly the same thing... not only did he depreciate the value but he made it VERY difficult to get it back on the road due to the amount of f£$%ing around with it! If you want a bike for mountain trails get a 4 stroke 250 or a 2 stroke 125 MX bike. If you paid £250 for it I can understand where you're coming from but personally... I wouldn't bother, So many other bikes do a better job and are quicker/more responsive and they are cheap to pick up. If you're trying to skimp on cash with it don't... A half assed bodge job will only lead to more money being spent to correct it! (I KNOW!). Good luck with it anyway

I love this clip
It's like a glimpse into the future... this is clearly Ghost Rider after a years cocaine/crack addiction! As you could see he pulled up quietly to a shop/apartment to rob it to sell the goods to fuel his filthy addiction!!

Final bits and bobs!
I think it's the selector shaft seal yea, nice drips of it meh. I'm grateful it's not absolutely p£%"£$ out! none the less I have a big bottle of rock oil for it I'm going to throw it at the local bikeshop for the throttle cable, we're quite chummy and they are well priced!

Final bits and bobs!
Lol OG, I do like pudding... had two servings of strawberry crumble just to calm down!! It will indeed have to be stripped, It was in-fact left for about 48 hours after the lacquer went on in a well heated (non humid) room. Wiped a thumb print off from near where my first screw hole is for the tail tidy and it ruined the paintwork surrounding it, by ruin I mean a small non abrasive cloth scratched it.. I checked over the rag and nothing was found so me being me tried to do it again and sure enough same thing! Painting it white is definitely a good idea anyway as it all matches (bar the tank right now). Means I'll be more inclined to cleat it too lol! I really didn't fancy it at first but I'm livid with it at the moment! It could possibly be a routing issue as I noticed the connector block that splits the throttle cable and powervalve cable had been disconnected, Not entirely sure why but I reconnected it and it was acting exactly the same. Could also be fraying as the cable was rubbing against the connector block bit (no idea what it's called), also the cable is rusty at two points, near the throttle body itself and down by the split off to the powervalve... Or the oil pump thing... ahh ffs Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd I've noticed in the past 45 minutes there is transmission fluid under my bike... spots of it coming from just above the gear selector shaft.... GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll get a better photo... Lacquer unfortunately turned out crap... Having no luck with this bike!! I say that but it passed its MOT with flying colours! The tester was really happy with the work I have done to the bike!! Also fatbars, headlight and new rad scoops arrived today so I'm very pleased! May just do it all in white as I'm at my wits end with the bloody thing now!! I do have an issue though... Since the bike came home from the MOT the throttle is sticking something ridiculous!! I think it could be due to the cable being so old but I'm not sure?? would this cause these types of issues? Never really had old cables before so unsure on this. Until my new clutch lever assembly arrives I won't be able to switch everything over as the screws(allen screws) are rounded off thanks again to the hobbit like fat creature from the Rhonda buggered them up something rotten!!!

Need Clothing Gear
I agree with Drewpy there, I had a set of Oxford Bone Dry boots arrive only last week!! £95 with free postage and they will last for ages. Also picked up a second helmet from eBay for £40 including postage! Ghost Bikes are awesome! If you want some decent entry level gear that'll last you for some time, go with them! Money well spent http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/ghostbikes_uk/?_trksid=p4340.l2559

Final bits and bobs!
I shall find a way!!! Would like to state at this time that I'm off my tits on paint fumes.... Ran out of good old halfords primer and tried motorworlds stuff... it was utter crap, so crap that I took it back and demanded a refund before offering to bring up my panels for the guy to sand down to the level that I did... he gave me my money!! However... Front fender and rear fender are now BLACK! first coat only mind, so far so good! the hours and hours of prep work paid off (well so far anyway!). Waiting for a second tank to arrive so I can still get about etc. (beauty of having new panels and keeping the old!). Had my new indicators arrive today along with my 2K Lacquer and Yamaha stickers!! Unfortunately I need to do... 2-4 coats of base coat before I put on the blue sparkle flip >.< worth the wait though

DT125RE Re-Build
If you Email Philippe at the motofiled eBay shop and see if he can get them in, I've been dealing with him quite a lot the past few weeks and he goes above and beyond the call of duty, unfortunately most of the stuff he does is specifically for the DTR's due to the immense following they have in portugal. Worth a try none the less!! Be interesting to see the finished product Best of luck

Cheers OG, I'm clueless with the wiring side of it but my pal has re-wired bikes before but I'll be sure to mention it

Excel Rims?
Well that's the thing, I was happy to have them off of him but he was "selling for a friend" and ... quote "ther is plenti f interezt m8" His loss... I would have paid for a courier an all... twat lol. Sticking with enduro for a while anyway, My DT parts go-to-guy has a full SM setup ready to fit for if/when I get bored of enduro for £200 which is what I was expecting to pay. Buy I did just pay out over £400 in bits and paint the past 2 days so be patient as the beast will rise!!

Final bits and bobs!
Well due to mates suggesting it I'm doing a photo album on facebook with each process of the spraying and fitting! You've seen the original bike and I think it'll be very impressive when done (So long as I don't bugger up the lacquer)! Also Purchased a couple of other mods!! Pro Taper Fatbar being one of them Managed to also get a pair of custom (silver) YPVS Stickers for when the paint job is done! Decided to leave the wheels looking shiney and not gold! It has proved to be bloody expensive so far but I've picked up some cracking deals along the way! Just have to get the seat re-covered once it's all together really and I'm then on my way Will be dry/wet sanding stuff as soon as I get home tomorrow WOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!
-
Final bits and bobs!
Cheers Drewpy Very much in the bag now... A bloody expensive one! If I cock the paint job up it'll be even more expensive lol Neglected to order New bolts and such for the brand new plastics!! So doing that now! Should be able to do the bike show in stroud (april) in time I HOPE!

Final bits and bobs!
So as I mentioned before... I was going to re-spray the bike, not doing the same scheme after all but going for this colour *see bottom of post! (All ordered, plenty of the flip colour as well as base coat and Lacquer!). All lights have been ordered (Polisport), but best bit is... My friend who is a sparky by trade is building me a loom from scratch! (WOOOOT!). Other mods are Hpires Rad scoops. Hpires Tail Piece with an RFX Tail Tidy, YZF 450 / YZ 250 Front mudguard (2010 model). Acerbis fork socks are being ordered next week as is an ASV clutch lever!! So it's coming along rather well now!! I think I'm going to go for gold rims at some point but the amount I've spent out on the bike means I'll have to wait for those lol!
-
Excel Rims?
I know OG, I'm actually in-undated with potential kits at the moment, the most attractive out of these is the TDR 125 Setup which is the Black Excel SM wheels (drools) and they already have some rather tasty Pirelli tyres, but if I can find cheaper I will!
-
Excel Rims?
Lol Dirty, I wanted a set of SM rims the bike as a spare set I'm still looking at some others but yeah, Won't be getting the ones that this post was for as the seller is a f"£$ng retard! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/dtr_W0QQitemZ270723206451QQcategoryZ10490QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp5197.m7QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D5%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D7924294477082068519#ht_500wt_1156 total spanner imo, Was going to put on up to £230 bid on there and would have paid for parcelfarce to collect it but the bloke wasn't interested... Saying he didn't have the time etc. yet he has time for people to pick them up but not time enough to sign a bit of paper!!! His loss anyway!! The other set has the forks anyways so will be getting them I hope!

Excel Rims?
Hey folks, Looking at buying a set of excel rims tomorrow!! Just curious (may sound odd but I know a couple will understand) as to how much they weigh? Front and Rear please!! Thanks in advance! Also is there anyone out there who could make an undertray for the DTR? I know it sounds a bit bizzare but I'm out to be different!

noobie
Welcome to the forum and congrats on getting yourself such a nice looking set of wheels!! Love the Xbox racing colours, they won't go out of date any time soon!! I'm just up the road in Stroud/dursley so maybe I'll see you out and about! Ride Safe, Liam

yz 250 engine in a dt 125's frame
There is a noob section to introduce yourself.. Why butcher a DT125R? If you want a YZ... get a YZ! And it's not as simple just changing the engine, you'd need to modify the frame (quite brutally and pointless), Better brakes front and rear.. Don't even bother unless you know what you're doing or know someone who can do it for you but for the sake of the cost... sell the DTR and get a YZ.. 96's fetch a good amount if in good condition and not completely abused (which i suspect this one to be). Sorry to be blunt but it's rather obvious.

Really nice biker pub in the five valleys!
Hey folks! Just wanted to mention that the Market Tavern in Stroud town centre, Gloucestershire is a biker friendly pub! The owner is a biker and the barman is a biker!! Anyway as summer is coming and many people will be out on their bikes!! they cater for any occasion and more importantly welcome anyone who favors 2 wheels over 4! It is an up-market pub with a well sized beer garden that has parking for up to about 30 bikes (I think!!) You could even park outside the front of the pub if you wanted to, However it does get busy from about 9am-2pm on a Saturday. A fantastic stop off point for anyone who wants some good English pub grub! They have rather disturbingly clean toilets and some very comfortable seating and plenty of space to put your lid! I highly recommend anyone who is passing through Gloucestershire to stop there and have a nose and some grub too!! Liam

Saturday 9th gloucester
Well I'll sort out a ride out in the near future currently my DTR is having work done to it so it can be road legal Shall do a post in the Bar or general section in the near future with details and such, I doubt we'd do loads of miles on our ride-outs but I expect we'll end up at some good pubs for some nosh and a half a coke each or something lol! Hope to see you out and about soon!
