  1. I managed to reach Carlisle today. Started around 10:30 from Cngloton and arrived at 17:10 here. Could've been a bit shorter if I hadn't taken the wrong way between Worrington and Wigan. I managed to book a discounted room in a hotel yesterday so I have where to stay tonight. Next important thing is to find a proper place for dinner. The plan for tomorrow depends very much on the weather. If it's going to rain too much I may decide to go back but not the same route. Thnks to all of you for the support. I'll keep yuo posted.
  2. Yes, the forecast is not very optimistic, but this is my only free weekend in the near future and I won't give up easily. Perhaps I should change the topic title to ...journey to somewhere north eventually. We'll see how far I can go. It's for the fun after all. If the weather gets miserable I can always change the direction to a nice pub. oldgitonabike, I have some experience with flooded tent and wet sleeping bag. I'm not gonna do that again. I like the idea for the youth hostel in Carlisle. (Gretna Green is nice, but I'm already married )
  3. Good point. I have planned the refueling stops in major towns and ... I'm taking my sleeping bag anyway Thanks. @NEVUnfortunately no chance for an extra day. So leaving John O'groats for the next time. cheerfulgrin, I'm planning a top up stop every 100 - 130 miles. I have to stretch my legs from time to time. Don't want to finish with ugly pain in my back.
  4. Hi all, I'm planning a ride on my 125 bike starting from Congleton (Cheshire)on 15 July (around noon). The idea is to reach Loch Ness on 16-th and to spend Saturday night in Inverness. Everyone is welcome to join me for the whole trip or for any part. One possible route is Congleton - Worrington - Wigan - Preston - Carlisle - Galsgow - Fort William - Inverness. Any suggestions will be highly appreciated, especially if someone can recommend a place to stay on Friday night - somewhere between Carlisle and Galsgow. I'm aware that the success of a journey like this is strongly dependent on the weather and other factors that are difficult topredict, but at least it does worth trying. Hope there are other enthusiasts around to participate.
  5. One more to add. Increase the gear ratio - replace the front sprocket with one-tooth-less sprocket or the rear one with one-tooth-more. It will not increase the power output, but will add some torque (with nearly 8%) which is needed especially on 5-th gear. Easy to do and not expensive.

I just bought THIS ONE. Far from perfect, but still reasonable. I tried to mount on the bike. There is a velcro strap that is supposed to go under the seat, which is not very easy to be done on YBR125. I managed to fasten the bag to the tail luggage rack. I'll write more after the real test.

There, There. Don't be frustrated. Your bike knows very well when it is in neutral. May be you don't know when it is in neutral Now seriously, The neutral "sensor" is usually a very simple switch. There should be two wires coming out of the lamp - one of them is going directly to the switch. And I bet the problem is the wire (or the light), not the switch itself. Good luck with the wires p.s. I had the same problem on my bike. The solution was to drill the head of the screw with a power drill. Then removed the cover. Once the cover is removed the rest of the unfortuned screw can be removed using pliers. I had the same broken plastic pin on the right hand cover as well. It depends on how bad it is broken. I managed to stick a bolt on mine (M5 as I remember) and fixed that with a nut behind the rubber. Hope that helps.

Hi, Is this hydraulic operated disk brake? If yes, it may need some bleeding in case you have accidentally let some air in. If it is mechanical hardlinked brake, try to find the adjustment nut (or screw, or what ever adjustment mechanism)and adjust the brake. Good luck. Georgi
  10. Hi

Hi, I have already few posts in the forum, but have missed the introduction part. I'm a proud owner of YBR 125 just passed my theory test and waiting for the practical one. For the record: I live in Congleton , Cheshire. Regards Georgi

I bought sprocket from here , but there are many others.
  12. Hi, There are few things I would check before start playing with the carb. My suggestion - begin with engine cranking check. You can remove the spark plug and use the kick starter to see if the piston is moving. At the same time you can check the spark as well (attach the spark plug to the cable and keep the sparkplug in contact with the engine body while cranking the engine).Check the oil. Next thing is the fuel. Old fuel can cause start problems. You can drain the old petrol and put some fresh fuel. That's in case the bike has not been used last few months. Air filter cleaning and oil change are good thing to do as well, bu they should not be preventing engine start.

Hi, Sometimes I have the same noise on mine. I have ruled out the wheel bearings , break and chain, because I have disassembeled them recently and applied enough grease. I believe that noise come from swingarm bushes or/and shock absorber bushes. It is like rubbing wet rubber on metal. Some non-agresive grease may help. Hope this helps.

Did you bleed the system ? Even a very small amount of air can cause problems.

I changed the front sprocket with 1-tooth-less sprocket. The gear ratio increase is about 8%. The result is significantly better acceleration on 5-th gear. Now I'm able to reach 60-65 mph with my 90kg.
  16. I finaly found some time to share my experience. I received the retainer and the bolts in 3 days. So far so good... But it appeard that the retainer wasn't exactly what it should be. The bolt holes were 5 mm diameter instead of 6mm (bolts are M6). The other thin I noticed is that internal diameter of the spline is 17mm instead of 16, but it's not too bad. Anyway, I had to use power drill to fix the bolt holes. Last week I had the chance to finish the repairs and tested the bike with the 1-tooth-less front sprocket. It is running definetly better. Now I have significantly improved acceleration on 5-th gear. Now I can reach 60 - 65 mph. I couldn't do that before. Certainly the top speed has gone down, but I couldn't get to more than 60 mph before anyway.
  17. Received the new sprockets and chain today. Hopefully the retainer and bolts will be here soon. Otherwise I'll have to work out some decent temporary sprocket mounting to put the bike back on the road.
  18. Hi guys, Thanks for the response. I found a drawing of sprocket mounting. "Locktite" seems good idea for this tipe of mounting. About the tools ... I learnde the lesson of good and bad quality tools some years ago while repairing my car. The question about the tools is what do I need to have with me while riding. For example screwdriver, spaners. What is usually inside a motorbikes toolkit?
  19. Hi All, This is my first topic in ths forum and I'm starting with a technical problem. This morning while riding I heard unusual noise and sudden loss of motive power. Initially I thought the chain has broken, but it wasn't broken. The front sprocket was missing. Furtunately I was not far from home. Does anyone know what can cause the front sprocket to fell? Of course I'm going to put new pair of sprockets and new chain. I selected a front sprocket with a tooth less (13T). I expect this to cause a bit more torque trasfered to the rear wheel. Are there any side effects of replacing 14T sprocket with a 13T ? I appreciate any suggestions. regards Georgi p.s. I bought the bike without the standard tool kit. What tools does the standard tool kit include? I don't want to place separate topic for this question only.
