Yamaha XS 400 L or XJ 400 Maxim more information
The 400 and 750 Maxim are built on the same frame, so anything that fits the 750 should fit the 400. As above and INTRO in new members section helps. PS the XJ and Maxim are 2 different bikes, some parts will fit (engine and running gear) will fit but frame types are different so don't buy XJ parts for your bikes frame. XJ750 Maxim

Electrics working when revving
If it works out of the socket then probably yes it's the neutral light socket that's at fault, can you change it ? Or you could just rewire it externally, one wire up the side and one soldered to the bottom.

XC125E - Fully or semi synthetic oil
1-4T means it's for a four stroke engine, Castrol is a good oil. look up oilman on here, he works for OPIE oils and usually does a good deal on price and delivery. Just make sure you ALWAYS buy motorcycle oil never buy or use car oil as the additives in it will f**k you clutch plates up.

theory test

FJ1200 oil usage ??
Might be a the valve stem seals are a bit tired Dutch? how about the head gasket? is the oil just dripping down or is it tracking down from the cam cover gasket? As we know they are brilliant to work on, easy to get at and simple to fix ( not like the friggin FJR) , start from the top and see if you can spot the source of the oil. As Tasky says you should use more oil in the Scottoiler than the engine.

xt600 oil overflow blowing out
Hi Shank, bit of a short way of telling someone what your problem is mate, I would say that it's near impossible to diagnose your problem from your question, it's like saying I have this piece of string and it's this long !! You need to describe what you have done to the bike and EXACTLY where the oil is coming from, photos/videos help here, Try again with more details so at least we can visualise what is happening.

Fatter front wheel & tyre for the classic look?
A lot of bikes run a 110/130 setup, it's only if you go stupid size jumps that it cocks up the steering tho any change from stock will affect the ride cos it's built with the standard sizes in mind not the ones your thinking of, if you over cook it then drop back a size, cost you a set of wheels and tyres but if they are new(ish) then you can usually get some or all your money back. 100vs110 Or this perhaps?

Polishing scratches
Just be careful Katie, a little bit at a time, don't go mad, if you think that's enough STOP don't be tempted to "oh a bit more won't hurt" cos it will.

Stuck on 125
To the YOC, love the intro, as above get the op, laser surgery is supposed to be better than it used to be and only a few hundred quid to get it done, we all have a mid-life crisis mine was do I take the 1300 out or the 750?

Removing the front wheel?
Hi Grouch, Ok should be easy enough, if you look at the section front fork2 on the list you will see bolt number 37, I think this is your pinch bolt ie locks the spindle from turning, undo that ( take it right out) and the try to turn the spindle, you would be best to squirt some WD40 on the inside of the spindle where it goes through the opposite fork, that is the opposite side to the nut, that should be all you need to do mate. PS don't forget the bike will want to lean forward when you have the front wheel off so put a weight on the seat (as far back as you can) or chock the engine to stop it leaning forward.
