HI ALL.
Hi Paul, Welcome to the YOC.

New member, new bike type
Hi Johnboy and Welcome to the YOC, Haynes can take a while to catch up with all the bike types out there try for a manual of a slightly different model if your desperate or even EBAY might have some thing that might tide you over, check with your local Yammie dealer to see if they can advise you about which manual might be your best bet, your engine is probably stock on another machine and your frame is probably used in another model so a combination of 2 might cover all the bases, a genuine YAMAHA manual is probably availabe some where but it will cost an arm and a leg, hope that helps a bit?

Harley Davidson Iron 883
Matthew, just been out on the bike in the sunshine and pulled up next to a guy on a HD, big fat thing with lots of chrome on it (the bike) I looked round and said morning nice day for a ride out and bugger me if he didn't smile and say Hi right back, just goes to show they aint all stuck up bleeders like I thought, so as long as you say Hi to people then I guess it's alright if you go out and buy one after all cos they won't extract your sense of humour after all if you get one.

Hi Paul, Should be an intro mate, but never mind perhaps you would do another one just to say Hi and tell a little about yourself, just so we know who were talking to, sure some one will have a set of wheels on here try a post in the "WANTED" section and wait to see what might turn up? Anyway Welcome to the YOC always nice to have new people to talk to. P.S. Don't forget the intro.

Hi Phil, Welcome to the YOC, nice to have some one my age at last, same as you british bikes first then on to Hondas and Suzukis for me. Remember BSA Bantam cos my mate was a postie and he got one for free to do his round, we went to Brighton for the day on it and he got binned for carrying 2 passengers and losing his bag of post, we threw it in a hedge cos it got in the way, happy days.

Fork oil XVS650
HI Chopper, should not be BOUNCY but firm on the return, could be your old springs are past it tho, glad some one know where I live as it is a nice little town but we do have more than our share of tree huggers and dozy bastards, must be the cotswold influence I think what with marrying your favourite sheep and such, their all into yoga and being green, riding my bike in the town is like taking the Devil to go shopping, with lots of muttering and "oh ars" Ims from that London place.

Harley Davidson Iron 883
Your money your choice but they are a bit agricultural ie built like a tractor. Nothing wrong with that as such but your only buying a Harley not the life style I hope, every one of the guys I have seen on one will ignore you or go out of their way to piss you off.

Riding/Lane Splitting in London
Ok I watched it and can honestly say that you and the others are out of your fucking minds. Don't get me wrong not a complaint, I admire the skill involved but to be honest I should have watched this from behind the sofa, plus of course my belly would not go through some of those gaps, dear God find a job nearer home or get a BUPA membership, I would carry a map of all the local hospitals tattoed on my chest before I went near that nightmare. You have my sympathy and respect if you do that every day.

Alarm fitted!
Nice one Jordan, make it as hard as possible for the buggers to get at your bike, I fitted the talking one, well it swears actually, reminds you to arm and disarm it and locks the CDI if it goes off twice. Plus if it's in range you can shut the engine down (from about 200 mtrs)

Speed Camera Scramblers
No never heard of them, you can't scramble a digital camera as far as I know unless your radio active I suppose! Where did you hear about it and what does it look like? Not one of these urban myth thingys is it? Perhaps you could show us a photo of it and if it works might be worth a look.

Fork oil XVS650
Hi Chopper, if these are anything like my forks then the allen key at the bottom of the forks holds the inner damper rod in place which in turn the main spring sits on, this you ONLY remove if you want to remove the inner leg (rechroming and such) I would suggest that is not what you want to do as it is not only a bastard to get undone but a double bastard to do back up again. I think that the suggestion you had about taking the end cap off and inverting the forks is probably the best way to go, once the forks are inverted you can then pump them up and down to remove any old oil that is in them and leave them overnight to drain out. I used 20/50 motor oil in mine as the haynes book of jokes said it was an accepteble alternative to fork oil which is twice as expensive and it does the same job and has an almost identical sae number! Hope that helps a bit?

Hi Joe welcome to the YOC.

New member introduction
NOt a DICK Craig just someone who was a bit confused by your intro and your DAD's post that's all. Might be nice if you were not to call people names when they are trying to be nice and point out that for different bikes you need different forums (see your DAD's post) it's always nice to have new people join the forum but arseholes are seldom welcome. See I can call people names as well but not really necessary is it.

First Geared Bike
Hi, Not sure what your question is here, but if you have it all back together and it runs RIDE IT, if it don't run then check your carb settings and make sure you have all the cables connected correctly, other than that not much else I can say unless you give more info on any problems you might be having. Stay safe.
