  1. Ok riddle me this batman, in "activity" section I'm online, in "online users" I'm offline (all while in the same "online" moment, ie still signed in), plus any number of combinations of these BUT I have to sign in using the top "sign in" button thingy but then have to sign in again with a different page cos it comes back as "unable to sign in? Not I hasten to add a major thing but annoying when you find you can't comment in one direction but can from another! So question is are we all having the same problem? Can someone have a quick word with Alex and get his take on what might be happening. Ooh forgot to add that in "activity" section it says "last updated" then some random date and suddenly it tells me there are "33 more updates" would you like to see them highlighted at the top of the page, at first it looks like no one has used the site for 3 or 4 days then it adds all the new messages from when it last updated (on my sign in time) which can get a bit distracting. Again is this the same for all of you?
  2. Yeah as Jimmy said that would have been my first port of call but your list said you had run it with the cap open so obviously not the problem, just to be sure you do have the fuel filter the right way round? some are direction specific, not saying you didn't know just it's the little things that catch you out. I had an old bike which had really soft rubber fuel lines, took me ages to work out they were too small and collapsing under the pressure of riding but fine when you were on tick over. Hunting usually implies a fuel starvation problem so it really has to be in the fuel delivery system, you seem to have covered most of the other stuff I would have thought of anyway. Is there anything in the fuel tank that's floating about? old filer or rust treatment I had a spare tank for my FJ and that had loads of stuff that had broken away after the tank had been leak proofed, just guessing now. Good luck hope some of this ramblings helps you sort it.
  3. Got to thinking about it after reading your post Bipps, so Amazon is sending me one as we speak, should have bought it when I saw them but too focused on the bikes to really get my head round it and as I have the entire front of the bike off at the moment it seems like a good idea to junk the pathetic ones on the FJR.
  4. Hey Bipps, I saw those at the bike show, really ear poppingly loud I thought and at £25 each a real bargain. The top of the range one actually hurt when you hit the button. Have a safe trip and lots of fun, hear from you when you get back.
  5. Off to the motorcycle show at the NEC tomorrow, should be a good day out with lot's to look at, I want to try out the new FJR and see if I can make a deal (you never know!) Anyway I will take a few photos to put up later in the week. My mate is looking for a new bike as well so that's 2 wives with constipated faces.
  6. Drewpy, I checked the website of the hotel/guest house at Pandy and it seems that they are not set up to take bookings that early so we might have to wait till the new year rolls over before it becomes available.
  7. Brecon beacons, great place to have a run out, lots of twisty (oh god I'm gunna die!) roads there. Not too different to the one we went to last time. I'm still in.
  8. Cynic mate just thought this might help, you might already have seen it but has some good information and as I said all info will help you deal with the problem. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/type-2-diabetes/finding-help-and-support/
  9. I'm in and it's not that far from me either, looking forward to it already. I will miss the ride home through Birmingham tho..!

    BLACK IRON PIPE!

Thanks for the offer Mike but I have contacted the guy from ebay that NEO put me on to, pipe on the way and cut to size as well. Again thanks oldfjman seem to have got it sorted but appreciate all of the responses you have all come up with.
  11. That's a bugger mate, as Katie said diabetics UK or similar organisations will help enormously with your life style choices, my Dad was diabetic for years and he ate very well within the rules that you have to cover. Lots of horror stories about losing limbs and going blind out there and if you had been diagnosed in the 1950s then this might happen but 50 years of advancements in the treatment and maintenance of diabetes means that practically no-one suffers from these things today unless your a total toss pot and ignore some simple rules. First things first, suck up ALL information from good professional organisations regarding your condition then make a plan, your family have to know what's what as well so they can help you deal with the condition, it's really not that hard mate just an adjustment of lifestyle and eating habits. As Katie said stay away from so called "diabetic ranges of food" it's simpler to read the frigging label on the food you buy than paying for someone else to do it for you. You will be amazed at how well you feel when you get your diet right. Good luck Mate.

    BLACK IRON PIPE!

Just a question about where can I get hold of some 3/4 inch black iron pipe, the sort that used to be used for gas or water pipe. I need to support the FJR when I remove the centre stand and the rear swing arm, this years little job ! But I'm buggered if I can find anywhere that sells the stuff in the lengths that I want and with the threads cut into it. Any of you that can help out with a suggestion I will be really grateful. Thanks peeps.
  14. Sorry Sniff I have to agree with "oldfjman" here, your not being fair to the SJW's out there who will get offended in being a part of the "ball less majority". By the way I now self identify as a SPITFIRE in a non binary gender sense of the term..!
  15. And we will all be there with the cameras running this time Tommy..!
  16. You may not have noticed but this thread is 8 years old. Try setting up another NEW thread in the Workshop section. Right after saying Hello in the new members section (hint).
  17. I had a quick look and it seems your right, only fairings for earlier versions of your bike seem to be available. There were a few for the 2016 variant but still not your year, I bet it's cos most folks are content with a "new" supplied fairing and very few want to change it this early in the owning process. But if your determined to do it then contact Yamaha direct in the UK and ask them if an earlier version will fit, my gut feeling is probably it will but it's a shit load of money to shell out till you can say for certain. Try here for Yam contact details. https://www.yamaha-motor.eu/gb/en/contact/
  18. Sounds great to me, lovely roads in your area. If you have the post code then we can have a look on google maps. thanks mate your a star.
  19. That looks lovely mate, well done you. For an old bike they have a real presence, I love my FJR but miss the FJ all that low down grunt is something you have to experience to believe.
  20. Well usually they go out from the throttle round the head stock and under the front of the tank then dip down onto the top of the carb or injector connector. BUT don't force it whatever you do, it must be a smooth run from end to end without any kinks or severe bends. Get it right no problem get it wrong and you can't shut the throttle, not something to fuck with if your not certain, go to you local bike shop and get them to do it if your unsure. PS say hello in the new members section, it helps if you introduce yourself. Just sayin..!
  21. Do you have the manual for the bike? it really helps if you know what should be happening from there. don't matter how any new/used parts you buy do you know the basics of fixing it? You have been riding it for 5 years then we assume you have serviced it and done all the usual checks so as above the battery and the wiring are your first port of call for this sort of problem. Take the starter motor off and test it on the bench, you can get a set of replacement brushes for about a tenner from any bike supplier, the brushes wear down and it is impossible to start the bike as the motor won't turn over.
  22. Sorry to state the obvious but it's only worth what someone will pay for it, sounds trite I know but no matter how much money you throw at a bike it will never return the investment. Look up similar or the same bike on EBAY, that will give you a rough idea at the selling price they reach, don't matter how much you want for it it's only worth what others are fetching. Yours might be concourse condition and have every original part plus service and repair bills and low mileage then you MIGHT get a bit more but don't hold your breath waiting for a buyer. There's a 1976 Dt on EBAY at the moment for £3250 but it's a trader so knock off 10% for the haggling involved so around £3 grand plus he will do the first year or whatever for the guarantee period. Try it at that price and see, you never know how these things will go.
  23. Last one was brill, thanks mate. How about down south somewhere or Devon - Cornwall area? Wales has some great roads as well mind you it pisses down with rain every 5 minutes but the bits in between are nice..! Only one thing for me really (yeah get it over with soft southern git) gotta be a B+B or hotel nearby.
  24. I was never old enough to actually use the original White Fiver but remember seeing one, it looked like someone unfolding a bed sheet from their wallet..!
