  5. Hi Dave, to the YOC, now that's an intro, made me smile anyway, just a suggestion on my 750 pre-divi I found that the "grip puppies" were fantastic at keeping the buzz down on the bike, just a thought but at £12 it's not a lot to make the bike more comfortable.

    05 R1 No crank

As above and bad earth, might be a faulty starter motor, check the brushes.

    Mt 03 problems

So basically your fucked if it's open and fucked if it's closed Yes? Sounds like a strip down and check the valve for problems.
  8. Yeah as above, been reading this and all you have to say is "fixed it"!!! WTF
  9. That's great news, all you need to do now is say hello in the new members section !!!! (hint)

Believe it or not go to your local "pound shop" and buy their oven cleaner spray can, it's pretty useless as an oven cleaner but gets the shit off your bike without marking the aluminium on the engine.
  11. Sweet machines mate. The frankenbike looks ANGRY !!!

Lassy, FJ owners club has them on the shelf, bought mine last year. Cancel with Suttons and give the FJ club a call, should be with you in 2-3 days.
  13. Thanks Cynic, thought you would know.
  14. Ok mate no probs, your up for it then, try the battery on the correct terminals, you will need to charge it first tho, they do come with some charge in them but it's always best to give them a thorough charge first. if your still not getting any lights or ignition light then you might want to test the earth leads first as old bikes seem to rust there first for some reason, just take the bolts out give them a good clean and see what happens. Don't forget to use a bike charger and not a car battery charger or your nice new battery will become a paper weight. Also see if the kill switch is stuffed (if you have one) that can cause all sorts of grief. Other than that it's a case of rial and error fault finding, try connecting the wires one at a time till you find where it stops working, not a happy place to be I'm afraid as it can be a bit of a grind tracing electrical faults. good luck.
  15. Most rubbers are ok at the temps for powder coating, as long as they are not left in to long of course, just found this:- Most powder coatings have a particle size in the range of 30 to 50 μm, a softening temperature Tg around 80 °C, a melting temperature around 150 °C, and are cured at around 200 °C. Which when you think about it is not much more than a descent home oven. Most ovens have rubbers inside to seal them so I suspect your rubbers will be ok as long as you don't leave them in for a week or two.
  16. Ah yes forgot that bit, BUGGER!!
  17. Hi Jingo, Welcome to the YOC. Ok if you can BUMP start it then your half way there, but your going to need to take it to a workshop to get someone to look at it for you unless your really good with motorcycle electrics you really don't want to be messing with it yourself, can I ask how old you are? and what bikes you have had before if any? Cos with the best will in the world we can't tell you how to fix your bike over the internet cos it will take days just to find out how good you are with a set of spanners. If your new to biking then you have a lot to learn BEFORE your even close to good enough to mess with bike electrics, it might be a simple fix or a really complicated reg/rec/starter motor problem. Much easier if you go to your local bike shop and get them to give it the once over. We really like new folks to join in and it's great when people enjoy their bike but trying to tell you how to fix it without knowing how good you are mechanically speaking is really difficult.
  18. I don't know much about these little bikes but if you look at the right side of the engine just above and behind the foot rest you should see a blank plate/hole, I think that's where your kickstart should be if you had one but your bike ONLY comes with an electric start. One of the lads on here has just posted his "new" bike up, have a look at that and see if it's the same as yours cos it don't have a kickstart either.
  19. Hi Michael, you don't really need a "NEW" set of barrels, a good used set would be more than adequate for your bike and it would save you a shit load of cash, unless your really flush of course, if your present set is really badly corroded then don't even bother trying to sleeve them that will cost more than a used set as well. My best advice anyway.

It's going to look really smart Lassy, nice one mate.
  21. Hi Biggles, aboard mate, a thousand bikes f**k me you have been busy. I'm 63 been riding since I was 14 and not even close to that number, I think your going to be very popular on here as there are Triumph/BMW/Suzuki owners on here as well, I have a feeling they might be asking you a lot of questions. Bung up a few pictures of your collection.
  22. As long as the present one has 3 pins it should work, only real way to find out is fit it ! Just make sure it has the same rating on the side, you know voltage and amp draw.
  23. to the YOC, a few ladies on here who will be overjoyed to have another girl on board, love the bike by the way.
