  1. Hi Stefano, Ok you figured out how to post a message - well done - you figured out how to post a picture - that's great too - but you forgot to do an INTRO in the new members section and that will help with your question, as would you talk to a stranger if he just turned up and said " how do I fix this" before he said hello? most of us wouldn't either so please do an intro if you would be so kind as that way we know your not a one hit wonder of which we get a LOT. By the way and more to the point Welcome to the YOC your very welcome to join in and we will help out as best we can. Ride safe.
  2. SPAMMERS -- SPAMMERS FU**ING SPAMMERS !!!!!!!
  3. Welcome to the YOC Chedd, I'm one of the old fogies as well mate so jump in and enjoy the forum.
  4. Hi Neil, I have a bluetooth helmet which works for me as it answers the phone on the 3rd ring automatically so no taking your gloves off. One thing I was told was that if you lick the gloved finger it helps to make it conductive so it will sometimes let you answer the phone, not sure it works all the time but my mate said that it works for him but licking the end of my gloves for any reason I would probably need a tetanus shot afterwards.
  5. Hi Graham and Welcome to the YOC, it's usual to do an INTRO in the new members section before you ask a " how do I fix my bike" question just cos it's nice to say hello to strangers before you ask for advice on your problem, if you would be kind enough to say Hi first you will get more feedback as folks are wary of one hit wonders who never say "thank you" after having their question answered. not saying that's you just it happens a lot. So if you would be kind enough to do that I'm sure someone will have advice for you on your problem. Metal shavings are never a good thing to find in your engine and most of us will have an idea of where you should start to sort out your question once you have completed your forum etiquete.
  6. Hi SGF, Welcome to the YOC, always nice to have new folks join in the forum.
  7. Hi Bernie, Welcome to the YOC.
  8. Hi John welcome to the YOC, it's usual to do an INTRO new members section before you ask a "how do I fix my bike " question, it's just that we get a lot of one hit wonders who want advice/info and then without so much as a thank you, bugger off until they want something else fixed, not saying your one of those just that you will get more feedback if you say hello first. So if you would be kind enough to do an intro we would all be much obliged and hope someone can help with your problem.
  9. Hi and welcome to the YOC, the more the merrier and you will feel right at home here with a 2 stroke as there are a lot of people on her who just love these old smokers.
  10. Hi and welcome to the YOC, always nice to meet new folks and there are a few lads from Canada on here who are good guys, hope you enjoy your stay with us
  11. Hi and welcome to the YOC, like you I have been riding since I was 16 and just getting to my 62nd birthday though riding in the winter is just to bloody cold now so I use the car but that's just cos I'm one of those soft southeners.
  12. Yes they both look like nice bikes so if it was me I would go for the bigger engine just cos it will work less and make the ride more comfortable, both will cruise at 70/80 without a problem and both will feel like a rocket ship it's just a question of which you like the look of the most. Good luck with your search.
  13. Well that's 1 minute 5 seconds of my life I wont be getting back !!! Drewpy you have to much time on your hands mate go out and polish your bike and stop looking for the most obscure internet videos.
  14. I had a Honda 150 4stroke many years ago and it sounded like shit with the baffels in so being the tit that I am I took the baffels out and it sounded great, trouble was that the back pressure was not enough and the engine ran really hot, after about 3 weeks the internals let go and I spent the next week and the next months wages putting it back together, packing does reduce the sound making it less harsh but you have to make sure the jetting is altered to take into account the loss of pressure, just my opinion you understand as others are much more up to date with more modern machines and their foibles but my advice is, if it came with it then put it back how it should be.
  15. Thanks lads, going to do the FJ next so I can have it ready for next year. Also my neighbour is thinking of selling his Triumph Bonnerville T140 so if I'm nice to her indoors that might be coming to visit, it's been stored in his garage for about 8 years and he is afraid of it !! so I am thinking of making him an offer.
  16. AH shit mate !! Sorry to hear that and I apologise for being a smartarse know it all !!
  17. Just thought you folks would like to know "I SOLD IT" first guy turned up to view it and paid me the asking price straight off the bat, really chuffed it's gone to a new home and I will never have to work on it again.
  18. Thanks lads, it actually owes me about £550 what with the new cylinder head it needed and the new forks and all the wheel bearings needing replacing !!! shall I go on ? perhaps not, let's just say that most of the bike you see is in fact a replacement part or new set of parts so for a "CHEAP" bike it's been an experience. OH I forgot the £50 it cost me (doh!)
  19. Welcome to the YOC Claire, sorry to hear that your bump put you off riding, we all fall off we all feel daft about it to and pretend it's not our fault, you know the type jump up from the ground looking around for someone to blame when it's obvious we did it to ourselves!! I'm sure "ADAM" will appreciate being used again and you should get back to doing what you enjoy.
  20. Now "THAT'S" an intro worthy of the name, welcome to the YOC Neil and welcome to the world of motorcycling, glad you enjoy the thrill of getting about without the hassle of finding a parking space, welcome home mate.
  21. If you fit longer bars you need longer cables, your best bet is to measure the present cable length then find a bike with the correct new length you want and fit those, watch out for the nipple type tho as it's a bugger trying to unsolder them and resolder the correct one on. Most bike specs have a cable length in their workshop book or you can simply ask your local dealer or mechanic what might fit.
  22. Hi Bikes do not have an emissions test as part of their MOT, you can almost fit what you want, except a"race only can" and it must not be straight through or to loud, most testers will tell you if it's to loud and some of the rear exhausts come with demountable baffles so you can bung them in for the test and take them out for road use, subject to rejetting. hope that helps.
  23. If you want to wear your birthday suit that's fine but you better iron it before you meet the girls!!!
  24. As Jimmy says sounds like a fuel issue, back to the spanners for you then? That's right after you do an INTRO ??
  25. Hi Pete, Welcome to the YOC, glad to have you onboard mate.
