Restricting an R6
i'd go with mervin on this one. Insurance will be sky rocket, fully comp for my xj6 brand new was 1400 If your going to get a restricted licence get a smaller bike. It'll be enough to handle for two years, trade it in and then bite the jump. You'll be going from 15bhp to 33.3 bhp then something as much as 108 bhp. Look at getting an r6, your scratching off nearly three quarters of its grunt.

xj600 pre diversion
500 or less than a tenner, thats what you call proper scandalous. How can yamaha charge that much when you can fix it yourself for no more than a couple of quid? Good on you mate, thats what you call proper smarts

Yamaha XJ6-S Side Panel
Hey guys and gals. Just purchased a R/H side panel in black for my Ocean Blue Bike (dont ask). It was sitting on ebay pretty cheap, now waiting for it to arrive to see the scratches it has on it. I was wondering what would be the best thing to do. Sand the panel down, fill the scratches, repaint it and make it look like new then sell it back on ebay or strip and sand the whole panel down, spray it ocean blue. The only problem is where would i get a hand of the transfer stickers for the side panel? Open to your ideas? David

that'll take some cleaning!, best doing that first before you even decide to strip it of anything
-
Still cant decide! :D
how do you keep that bike so clean
-
Still cant decide! :D
shop around mate, you'll be able to get your hands on 2009 model bikes cheeper than the 2011 bikes. I bet some yamaha show rooms will still have stock lying around. Also look for ones with low millage, you'll be able to pick up show room models with test purchase miles on them. also fleybay will have some good ones But if your sitting with a restricted licence i'd stick with the 250, but not by new and just trade it in.
