Well it had to happen, my delight has now given way to despair. The cat went in for its MOT today and it FAILED. The three failures are: 1. Binding front caliper 2. Leaky fork seals 3. Exhaust blow (gasket). These are all repairable but its a pain in the ass as I was hoping to get the cat on the road this week. <sighs>

Just taken the cat in for it's MOT, tech took a sharp intake of breath and said my front tyre is 'feathering' and my rear is nearing it's wear marker. Both legal but I will need new boots for the cat. Any recommendations on makes / type? Mainly commuting use with the odd long range blat. Ps. Anyone explain feathering to me???

That's interesting. Traffic officers undergo extensive advanced driving courses and have to undertake a three week road traffic law course to learn the finer points of traffic law, however it is most 'wooden tops' who undertake reinforcing most of the minor traffic stuff in our towns & cities due to the lack of traffic bods. It is a training issue no doubt, but a lot of it comes down to the sort of person they are.

D Day Rideout to France 12th & 13th June

I went to Normandy in sep 09 with a few mates by car and saw a lot of bikers there. One of the reasons I recently bought a sports tourer is so that I can revisit this amazing part of France which is literally dripping in history. If you organise another one next year I'll def be up for it. Hope u had a great time. -
I owned an RD125DX back in the day and have many happy memories. I always wanted an LC ypvs but never got round to it. My mate had an RD400 which was a hooligan bike. Notts is a bit far for me, but would be really interested in seeing some pics if anyone makes it.

Everyone needs to start somewhere and for kids starting out it's all about image. Unfortunately not all of them appreciate older bikes and can be devoid of all logic.

Good, bad, indifferent? Most of them are perceived as being fascist bully boys with a humour bypass and strange moustaches. Just wondered if this is a generalisation or if those who slate them have been aggrieved in some way by them? This could be contentious and please remember this is a family show. Over to you....

Been doing the nod since the early 80's when I started out....I find the responses mixed, some will nod others are oblivious or just plain rude.. On my way back from picking my cat up I gave a couple of young 'ped riders a nod, they nodded back in unison, which I thought was nice. I really don't care we all have to start somewhere and I find that your behaviour influences others behaviour. Perhaps it's up to us to spread the word!

Not sure what the local policy is with your police, but in my neck of the woods they (the police) only take a report if someone is injured or reported for any offence. Where both parties are ok, no-one is getting reported and are happy to exchange details then they (the police, again) are not obliged to make a written report.

I bit the bullet and done it the old fashioned way of walking into a shop and buying one. It was £45 in the end but it was filled in front of me and we had a nice chat about the weather and motorcycles. It was a YUASA and given that I was being quoted up to £63 by other dealers I thought that was ok.

Looks like it's def a new battery, so will phone round a few specialists tomorrow. Does £42 sound expensive for a bike battery? I'm not tight but also not keen on getting fleeced...thanks for your advice

Hi, I may need a new battery and have been phoning around a few local dealers to get prices. I've been quoted between £42 - £48 for a sealed unit which I think is on the expensive side. Not keen on ordering from eBay, can anyone recommend a good reliable online store?
