to the forum Chris For starters.....you'll need to pull off the exhaust & remove what looks like a big flat washer that's placed just inside either the exhaust port or the leading end of the pipe. Hope this helps

Either one of those would be a Killer Rode for a 1st timer.

to the forum Paul I used to have an '83 750 Maxim.....& I believe the 650's tank should fit? But to be sure.....take a tape measure to the distance between the center of the front rubber mounts & the rear mount. Then use that distance when hunting down another tank from salvage yards & such places. Hope this helps--

Those brake rotors look like something off a Kwak.....judging by the hole pattern in 'em The calipers could be from that as well....seeing how the front one is mounted in front of the fork leg. Am I close?

What do you mean by "smashed"? Could it be that your Con-Rod is bent?......& did the piston break inside @ the wrist(gudgeon) pin? Or do you have a hole in the top of the piston?....which could mean that you've got a serious air-leak somewhere causing it to run really lean & resulting in the "pop" you spoke of.

Bigger is NOT always better....Especially when it's your 1st bike! If you've never ridden before.....an R6 would be more than enough to keep you entertained for quite awhile. Besides, the amount of cash required to purchase a LiterBike would make for 1 Helluvan expensive weekend toy!

I once T-boned a lady in a cage @ an unmarked 4-way intersection....of which I had the right-of-way! Dumb broad said she didn't know I was there until I hit her ......& I coulda swore she slowed enough to let me through the intersection in front of her. I was riding home from work on my XJ550 Seca....& it happened only 2 blocks from my house! But the thing I remember the most was the sound of metal to metal contact.....my head going through the side window......& me being extremely pissed off about the state my bike was in afterwards. oh...& also that my left knee "pops" every morning ever since then.

This vespa would be a right handful just trying to keep it on the ground!

Might be doing some Skiing myself in the next few weeks ..... My mate that bought my RD.....he & I have been Skiing together for 20 years, & love this place.

Gotta agree with ya there Alan...... It's somewhat relieving to know that'll be moved to a 30'x40' heated garage/shop @ my mate's newly aquired 44 acre farm.... ..Along with all his other YamaToys .....& to know I can visit her for a ride. I'm just itchin' to get back on my XT now!

Farewell Ode Friend Yep...Hell has officially froze over!.....I sold my Baby last night due to some much needed funding issues. Definitely the hardest of all my bikes to let go of. Best part of this tale is that I sold it to my mate of 20+ years....the very same guy I bought it from 11 years ago! Which means incidently.....that I'll still get to ride her on occassion!
