Definitely sounds like a Carb issue...... If the bike has sat any length of time......Cleaning them is a must BTW.... to the forum
-
£7300?.......Just think if that was translated to Dollars........it's be $14,369.42 Hearing tales like this makes me glad I ride a 25y/o XT ......where my registration only costs me $35 every 2 years .... & my Insurance runs me only $120 a year

That's a wicked 'Busa! I like the Exhaust note!
-
I had a similar problem once with my old XJ550 Seca..... It ended up being a Starter Cut-Off relay .......which I cured by installing jumper wires across the connector to that relay......in effect by-passing it........rode it like that for another 6 years before I sold it. Your Quad might have a similar circuit. BTW.... to the forum Sorry for the delayed response

Bluddy H*nda Brakes! .....Wish the local government would spring for some Yamaha's instead!

He's good...no doubt about it. But I've seen all those types of stunts before by Da Man himself.......ROTHWELL @ 1 point, he held 13 world records ....including the fastest Wheelie....186mph ...& the fastest stoppie @ 110mph Seen him 3 times live......a True Spectacle!

Racers would bin that & get a new one Of course, in that type of riding....that goes without saying

Just couldn't stand it anymore....& had to get out on Sunday & enjoy this Killer weather we've been having .....especially before I started my new job today. Headed to my favorite stomping grounds....the Upper Clackamas river area. Stopped here @ the Carver Bridge boat launch.....which is a great place for swimming during the summer.... Then it was onto Springwater Rd. towards Estacada, where there's some great views of Mt.Hood... Being the time of year that it is......I had to ride around locked gates that closed off roads that are usually open later in the year..... something an XT is GREAT for ... This is a little day use area that flanks this cove which makes a nice fishing hole.... The only way in here by boat is to drive through this culvert which runs under the highway from the North Fork Reservoir on the other side.... I then rode to the Reservoir side of the highway & got this shot.... Before I pulled a fast one & rode around yet another locked gate to access this service road right on the lake's edge towards the dam @ one end..... I love tearing up this lake with my Bayliner during those summer camping trips.......can't wait till summer gets here now!! ....

New to the forum, would like to know possibly oil leaks
YamaHead replied to Electric87FZ600's topic in Naked
I've rode an old friend's FZ600 that he used to race on occassion.... Your oil leak....is it coming from the front underside of the motor?....If so, It could be the seal behind the oil filter casing......cool thing is that a new one usually comes with a new oil filter when you buy 'em. You might be able to get a bit more life outta that clutch by shuffling the plates....but an oil change couldn't hurt either. The chain lash you spoke of.....do you mean the drive chain @ the rear wheel?......or the Cam chain in the motor? Both are pretty easy to adjust.....if that's any consequence -
Thanx Electric .....& to the forum. I was taking classes to further my AutoCAD knowledge as I've been drafting for 15 years..... That was before I went to Central Oregon for 5 months while I was working for a Stuctural Engineer there. Put loads of miles on it in that time...until I blew it up last September .... Just put a replacement head & brand new cam in her.....She now runs better than it ever has .....

to the forum Black XJ's are a great place to jump back into the biking world.
-
to the forum Wind! Now, I know this isn't necessarily going in the right direction as far as power is concerned ..... But have you ever considered one of these?..... They only weigh about 250lbs. fully gassed.....have an electric start .....& you can ride 'em ANYWHERE I got to test ride an '05 model last year for a friend who finally got back onto a bike after a 20 year hiatus due to a MX accident where he lost use of his left arm. We then took it back to his place & immediately modified it for him to ride.....1 Armed! ..... My friend loves his XT......& is planning on doing upgrades to the exhaust & carb this year.....which should yield a bit more power out of it. Very user-friendly machine....excellent brakes......& really quite flickable in the steering dept.

Ahhh Yes....the dreaded PMS Parked Motorcycle Season..........

Here in the Willamette valley....IF it snows, it's usually of the wet variety & is gone by the same afternoon......Crap Snow really But last night & today was an exception....The Nice & squeaky Dry type Woke up to this today .... Both my youngest lad & my Grandson had the day off from school & couldn't wait to dive into the white stuff.....& me being a Big Kid @ heart when there's snow to play in & the fact that my XT is in a re-assembly process right now.....I didn't waste any time getting my lad's XR to cough to life so we could use it for a tow vehicle for today's sledding activities... Gotta admit that buying this little beast was one of my better purchases over the years.....What a Kick in the Pants it is to ride in the snow! ... Can't believe how all the Quads come outta the woodwork when it snows around here! They look like great Fun to ride.......SlideWays Everywhere! My lad & I found this great road only a block away......A Steep Dead-End @ the top.....& even a jump about halfway down .... So had a great day in the snow today....& the real icing on the cake was when I came in tonight & found this had even showed up today! ... So after I attend 2 job interviews tomorrow, I'll be Hell bent on getting the XT back together so I can be ready for the next time it snow's

But can you imagine holding onto it with the kinda torque a V8 cranks out?
-
Been an ongoing issue for quite awhile now DON'T BE SHY!.....Nobody's gonna bite ya....... Too Hard anyway
-
....Wherever you may be Hope you have a good'un mate

But this Massive Beast would definitely require 2 BIG FutherMuckers to operate it! This thing will cut through a 3ft. dia. log in about 2 seconds! & obviously Ear protection is an absolute MUST!
