  1. When you put in new pads they will squeak for a while untill they bed in to match the disk. You need to check that the brake is not sticking on a little. When you release the brake can you see the pads move away from the disk,,, they wont move much so look closly. Did you clean away any drake dust that might of been on the "anti rattle" shims. Anti rattle shims are the thin bits of steel that your pads sit into. When you put in the new pads you should of put a tiny bit of grease on the anti rattle shims so that the pads can slide easy on them. Keep grease away from pads and disk. It should be "copper grease" but i never have any so i just use ordinary grease. Another thing it could be is,,,,,if the brake is not releasing then you may have a slightly stuck brake piston. If this is the case then let me know and ill tell ya what to do. Other than that it might need new disks,,,, run your finger accross the disk,,,, can you feel ridges in the disk,,, if you can and these ridges are pritty big then you prob need new disks. So,,,,, pads out,,, grease the shims,,, pads in,,,,, check an make sure brake is working before going for a spin. Then go for a decent spin and use the back brake a lot. when the pads warm up they will bed in faster and this will eventually take away the squeaking. If in dout let me know Pat
  2. I also think,,,, do your test Then you can have a big cc bike and go as fast as ya want,,,,,,,, after a while you will realise that going fast all the time is no fun either,,,,,,, there are many ways to enjoy biking,,,,,, going fast is one of them but it comes with a hefty price tag (life or death) 125cc is a it slow specially if ya want to do distance traveling,,,, so do the test, get bigger bike, but dont get yourself dead.
  3. Welcome to the Club Billy. Its nice to see some young lads joining in. You allready have 2 bikes so your not doing too bad. Keep up ridin in the fields,,mud,,gravel,,any kind of slippy surfaces really because although you may not know, this kind of riding really helps improve your skills. Bike control, ballance, reflexes, ability to countract slides, ability to read the fields, better vision of things arround you,,,,,,,, i could go on and on. These are all things that WILL make you a better rider. Anyway stick arround and enjoy yourself. Pat
  4. I forgot to mention !!!! On some ferry's bikes are tied down using round lugs that pop outa the deck. They ratchet the bikes down to these. Now a lot of the time these lugs are rusted and dont fall down flat with the deck (floor) when the ratchets are loosened and taken out of them. These things are seriously dangerous,,,,, some are up and some are down,,,,,,they are like a mine field. SO WATCH WHERE YOUR GOING WHEN LEAVING THE BOAT. Once there was a lad in front of me,, he was kinda rushing arround his bike getting himself organised,,,,,, then he tripped on one of these bloody things and wacked his head on the car window that was behind him. Anyway dont be worrying about the ferry,,,,,,they are grand,,,,,, unless they sink that is !!!!!!!!!!!

  11. Just seen this Jason Na half hour nip round da country lanes,,,,ya know urself,, get lost along the way,,find somewhere new,,,,,, and of course it leads to some funny stories for the nite ahead.
  12. Are ya talkin about the Cap where ya fill her up with fuel?????,,,,, is it that pipe that is dripping fuel??? Open the cap and leave it open,,,,,start the bike an let run for a while,,,,see if the fuel drip stops. I still think the people that fitted your restrictor have caused the problem. The restrictor is 4 big washers with small holes in them. They are fitted to each of the carbs,,inside the inlet rubbers. What happens i think is,,,,,, the holes in the restrictor washers are so much smaller than origional that it causes back pressure. This pressure cant go through the carbs and engine like it used to,,,, yet it has to go somewhere so mabey it gets forced back up into your tank. Then any movement of the bike will cause fuel to be forced out the overflow pipe. At a guess this may be your prob.
  13. A come on folks,,,,,, there must be a few new people to come along and join the fun eh! Last year there was gona be some new face's but they never showed. Dont be shy,,,,, come along,, its good craic,,,,,we wont eat you for breakfast or anything !!! 22. The hole trip was fab,,,,, these pictures dont tell the real story,,,,,what you can see with your eyes as ya travel along is briliant,,,as is the scenery. You really need the weather for this part of the country, cause if its low lying clouds and dull then ya wont see to far to enjoy it. Me and Blackie watched the weather like halks for 2 weeks waiting for a brake,,,,eventually it came and off we went,,we got lucky considering the summer were having. The trip cost me 365 Euro including the ferry. Now,,,,,there was a bit of a misshap along the way. The nite we stayed in Ullapool (sat nite). We stoped for dinner and a pint before pitchin the tents. When we returned to the bikes,,,, mine was moved from where i left it. Closer inspection and it was bad news. Two lads came over and told us they were looking for us,,,,,, they had picked my bike up. When we were in eating the wind got up and blew my bike over off its side-stand. With top-box and tent on the back and tank bag on the front, the bike was allready top heavy. I should have taken more care as to the way i parked it. Anyway, the fuckin thing blew over and i was not happy,,, my pride was hurt more than anything. Not a huge amount of damage. The brake leaver, foot-peg and crash mushroom took most of the bang. Brake leaver broke the end of it (designed to brake),,,,,,,foot-peg slightly bent and bit broke off the end (disigned to brake),,,,,,crash mushroom saved my right hand side engine cover, without it bike was fucked,,,,,, me lid was hanging on mirror, so that saved the mirror but damaged my lid and visor,,,,,,the fairing on the front then got some scratches on it after everything else broke off,,,,,, so too did the exhaust and the top box. Anyway, we checked it over and that was all the damage. Blackhat went for fuel and i hit the start button. There was nothing, not a single noise. After waiting a few mins i tried again and she fired up no prob,,,,, i have since learnt that its a switch thats cuts all power to everything for 20 mins if the bike is layed down. Took bike for a test ride and everything seemed fine, no steering wobble or bent bars or the rest. Anyway bike was rideable and needless to say we carried on. I put this wee misshap behind me and enjoyed the rest of the trip,,,, "no point in crying over spilt milk" Hopefully now it wont cost too much to fix her up again. Anyway thats the story of our wee tour,,,,, if i missed anything mabey Blackhat will remember and fill in the blanks. Hope ye enjoy !!!
  23. Stopped again at top of Loch Lomond,,,, this trike was parked up This plonker was there making noise an annoying everyone,,,,so i jumped on me bike for the last time and landed in Troon to check in.
  24. Left the mountains now headin for Pitlochry,,had breakfast there then slowly heading for Killin,,,,am goin home the day so loosing intrest as i know my trip is nearly over. This is Loch Tay on rd to Killin Loch Tay From here i went to Tyndrum,,,,to the kinda famous Green Welly,,,,had coffey there and dossed round for an hour,,,,killing time as i headed for the boat at Troon.
  25. Walked up the top of the hill to stretch the legs,,,,,ist evening now and cold on top of mountain,,,, could see for miles and miles You can see the road sweeping over the top and round the mountains.
