Didn't know how blessed I was to live in America. SOHC=Single overhead cam; DOHC=Double overhead cam. Now, if this information is accurate it is a gold mine for me when looking for "bits/parts". The 12R indicates what engine design I have to order parts for. You might need a similar part but due to the design or change in the engine should only order 15G prefixed parts. Your design probably reflects different regulations and laws. But what muddles it up is that this shows that design to be on only the 1984 bike not 82-83. Don't know what plastics you have but for starting and going issues stick to 15G things. Almost makes you want to get a 2010 R1 doesn't it. Rick
If your engine number begins with 12R the SOHC info in that manual will disappoint you as you will have a DOHC engine. I've been looking for a real Maxim manual for my 82-83 xs400 Maxims as well. The lads here say to use the 12E engine info found under the Classics forum. Rick
Sure, (on gps files, I have a gps program on my laptop); I got a couple of opportunities to crack the throttle yesterday didn't find the neighbor though. Today will be our last goooood day for a ride as temps are headed to high 20s and low 30s for overnights and cruddy clouds during the day with chances for rain. Guess we are getting to December. Can you buy the shims you need or are they in a package?
I've been wanting to get out today too, stinking Black Friday crowd has been bad everything backed up. Darn, the neighbor just went by, he's put some V&H pipes on his sportster and they sound good. IF he can bear it so can I, talk to you later.....
