Nice one! Don't you love it when a plan comes together? P

Take the tank off, open the fuel tap and give the petrol to someone who has a petrol lawnmower. P

I would drain the fuel tank and put some fresh petrol in, it will most likely have gone bad after four years. Make sure there aren't any stiff links in the chain too. A squirt of WD40 into the switchgear won't do any harm either. P

Here, here! Been a driver for 20 years and a biker for 1 year. Can't describe the good feeling when I am on the bike but the passage you have quoted pretty much covers it. When I am clanking round Sainsburys in boots and leather I feel a strange one-upmanship over the rest of the shoppers
  6. 70mph is about the top speed for a DT125. You could replace the rear sprocket with a smaller one (or the front with a larger one), that will give you a bit more top end, but you will lose some acceleration. P

Oil cooler on my XJ600 has split, as did my sides with laughter when I got the price of a new Yamaha one. Plenty of oil coolers on ebay for bugger all money, easy to fabricate brackets and pipes to make em fit. Question is, does it matter much if the replacement is a wee bit smaller? I know a lot of bikes don't even have a cooler fitted so I have prob answered my own question, still, best to ask those more in the know. Cheers Peter

ICQ is a messaging/chat type program, the UIN is your identification number, you'd know if you had one. Perhaps you have keyed something in the UIN box accidentally. Leave it blank and try again. Regards P

Bought the Halfords motorcycle oil (£23.99 for 5L), as you say is dearer than the car oil. Am not convinced there is any difference but not willing to chance it. Have also been told that car oil will ruin the clutch. You should've got the screwdrivers, offer is on their website!

Don't know about the electrics etc but I would tell DVLA and insurance company about the modification. Honestly, it isn't worth all the hassle should you have an accident. (OMG i'm turning into my dad!) Good luck with it P

Close the choke a bit and give the kickstart some welly. My CG125 was exactly the same when I first got it. Also, obvious I know, but is there some fuel in the tank? If still not starting, is the battery charged? Plug lead on properly? Check that the spark plug is in tight enough too. If it starts, don't forget to open the choke when the engine warms up a bit, otherwise it'll not run smoothly. Good luck P

For info. Bought 5 litres of semi synthetic oil in Halfords tonight for the XJ and was presented with a £20 set of screwdrivers for nowt. Don't know if they doing this nationwide but deffo in Newcastle, not a bad deal if you need the screwdrivers. (a bollox one if you don't though). P

Hi, recently impulse bought a 1989 XJ600, fantastic looking bike for not a lot of dosh. Anyway, the Motad 4 into 1 exhaust on it is pretty shot although the headers are fine. Rather than spending £300-400 on a replacement system I fancy building a custom one. Can is easy enough bought for £50 but i've spend two days trawling the internet for a 4 into 1 splitter. Anyone know if a universal splitter is even available? Any advice appreciated. Many Thanks Peter
