ask whoever you bought it from, unless it's nicked , does it have a reg plate. why wasn't you given the log book , as that sometimes gives you a clue as to the year of manufacture.

try removing the carbs and giving them a thurough going over , that cured my probs. i had same symptoms as you described on my 350.
