  1. im not sure at the mo.....a dt engine would be the easiest option but im wanting the bike to be a speed demon so was thinking of going down the lines of a mito or rs engine. need to do loads of research to see what would be the best option but im defiantly thinkin 2 stroke.....but then again the honda cbr 125 engine is quite good (thats the one iv put in my bobber project) and im quite surprised of the power output.
  2. i know what u mean m8 a clear cover on the engine casing showing the flywheel and stator, think there custom made im afraid. i think i saw them on ebay a while ago, this company was offering the mod to put some form of see through glass/plastic on the engine casing......have a look for "custom" and search the pages....never know it might crop up.
  3. i find iron ferrite works well for melting through engines
  4. the xvs 250 engine is a rare engine in the uk so if owt went u will struggle to find parts. i did a nice white with a red/black tribal design...looked good but i had to paint it blue for the mot was a rush job so used hamer blue and a brush lol looks well tacky.
  5. yeah the best mentality to have is that EVERYONE else on the road is a complete nutta! at least then you can prepare for the situation. but its all down to experience and knowing the roads. its like you wouldnt do 60mph past a blind junction at 4:45pm on a friday! or any other day for that matter. just remember a bike is the most venerable thing on the road next to cats (and people aim to run them over! ) so ride safe.
  6. well.....i put a pod filter on and straight through exhaust, then re- jetted the carb got more power out of it for a while then the piston rings went so i got hold of some xvs 125 piston rings (had a spare engine in the shed) put them on to find that it wasnt the rings but the crank. so i got a new crank and split the engine. put the new crank in and didnt set the timing properly so after about 10 min of goin up and down the road the head went.... so its now sat in the garden lol. the rest of the bike is in nearly new nick as i spent a small fortune on new parts but iv given up on the engine.....gonna get a decent 2 stroke to stick in it.
  7. ok ....get the quote from the mechanic. if ur fone has a record setting then turn it on!!! you want to record whats being said! go round and talk to them ,say that uv got the quote from the mechanic that the woman asked for. then see what happens. at least you have proof of whats been said! last thing you need is for them to pull a fast one! take pics of where the 4X4 is in relation to your bike and any damage on their car then pics of your bike in the mess its in! you want as much evidence as possible! then just go for getting ur bike fixed, no doubt they will try and pull a fast one and not pay up! if you can settle it without contacting any insurance then bonus! yeah she was at fault but if thay pay up then brill! if you go straight to the insurance then they will hold a grudge and probably do it again. = not good. but as i said get as much evidence as possible just incase you need to claim against them.
  8. hello ....not sure on what the clearance should be ... but if you can take the valve covers off, well done! (they tend to seize on) as to the idle screw it should be about 1 and a half turns out from seated....but every engine is different so there is a little trick to find what urs should be. warm engine up, turn idle screw up so it sounds like the choke is on (keep choke off), turn the screw in slowly! engine dips, (dont let it cut out) turn the screw out 1/4 turn a time, engine revs go up, when the revs have gone as high as they can when turning the screw out, stop. you need to get the mix screw on the point where anymore turns out wont affect the revs. turn idle screw down ....job done. oh and something is telling me 0.25 (for valve clearance) but dont hold me to it...as i dont know.
  9. get some good 10w40 like castrol or something similar, oil filter....look on www.wemoto.com if you cant find one when u put in sachs roadster 125, try xv 125. there quite good for parts and it normally takes a couple of days to get to u. to change ... its a bit tricky..... for some reason they put the frame in the way of the sump plug so just try and see if you can get it open. if you cant then you will have to undo the engine brackets on the right hand side and slide the engine out a bit so you can get to it. as to the filter look on the right side of the engine and you will see a sticky out round bit on the casing (bottom right) with 3 screws on it, it will have a round sticker on it covering up the yamaha stamp. undo the 3 bolts and pull (might be worth having a rag handy as its a bit messy) the filter is in there, but take note which way round its in. jut pop the new one in and put the cover back on. if you do an oil change then best to drain the engine over night, fill with cheep oil, run for a week then drain again, replace filter, then fill with the good stuff. it makes sure that there is no crappy oil in there and that its all good
  10. top man! well i would recommend an oil change if you havent done one already, and a high flow oil filter would help the engine out loads.
  11. yeah it would make it look better.....but your looking at 400 quid to get one made (well when i looked into it, thats what i got quoted for a stainless steel double walled under seat exhaust) and you can get hold of some slash cut performance exhausts for 300! and you would need to play with the carb...which is a big job! the engine is extremely tempermental! it took me 6 days in total to get the engine to run properly....and that was just with an air filter mod!!!! the exhaust isnt too bad you just need a bigger main jet which is quite easy on the sachs as you can access everything. but i found that the piston rings wear down faster plus the crank isnt strong enough for any decent performance mods so its a case of balancing out mods to cons and at the end of the day any mods done to the bike are going to put strain on the engine which can potentially make it go pop.
  12. i just find it funny when you see the "done up" corsa's round my way pumping out the boom boom, with the full animal bodykits, turbo's, massive hole called an "exhaust", they spent about 7 grand getting the thing to do 100mph ............. then i whiz past on my 2 grand 125 with L plates and put them to shame!! im sure its just a phaze that there going through a sort of hay look at me im a twit with money kinda thing.... its all a boasting tool. i like that "we buy any car" jab lol might try that one .....wonder if i can get a horn to pump it out?
  13. ha ha trust me m8 thats not hard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (soz for all the "!" but honest its piss easy) it just looks allot in writing, but ur looking at 10 min of work (i can do it in 5 min lol) the hole mod is the best one for cost vs effort but no iv done a single muffler mod using the original exhaust, it involves cutting the top muffler off and the "box" then cut the baffle out and weld a plate to cover the hole and a connecting pipe for your rear headder, makes it a hell of allot louder plus it has 1 exhaust as to bars i just got a bit of 22mm pipe for mine
  14. well i only like duality by slipknot... and korn.... listern to "shoots and ladders"! but the lead singer in slipknot can sing! he just chooses to scream down the mike lol oh and system of a down but cant beat the clasics like dier straights and motorhead (just to name 2 of many!)
  15. just seen ur post in the workshop section.. the sachs roadster is a rare bike in the uk and i think its only me and you that have one lol well on here anyway. so il help u out a bit if you take the seat off ( look under the rear light/wheel arch, take the plastic panel off, then undo the 1 bolt)lift back of seat and pull back undo the bolt on the tank where ur balls would go, then the the bolt at the front of the tank. take the pipe off the fuel tap, and there is a black breather pipe that goes on a tie wrap on the frame near the engine sprocket, take it off the tie wrap. then dis connect the horn! lift the back of the tank 1st then the front (put it back on front 1st! then back) you should see a big black box, look at the right of it and you will see about 6 or 8 screws, undo them then slowly take it off ur air filter is inside, its held on by a spring with a black bit on it. either clean or replace with the same one as any other will require new jets in the carb. i know a good exhaust mod but you need to be handy with a welder
  16. i havent got any pics no... and the filter is under the tank in a box on the right hand side. if your thinking of trying to tune it dont bother my freind, iv done everything you can think of to that bike and its just not worth it, as the engine cant take it, so if your going to mod something id sugest you just do cosmetic stuff. mine is sat in the back yard with a blown engine .....but once iv found a good engine to put in it, its becoming a proper streetfighter. but iv got my hands full with my bobber project at the mo.
  17. boom ba ba ba boom ( meet u at the bus stop at 6 )....lol nah i hate that music you can put 6 or 7 tracks together and its the same! dont think they have the mental capacity to appreciate decent music....where ppl actually play the instruments! need to listen to some prodigy, ACDC, Korn, slipknot, rage against the machine, Nirvana, black sabbath, and iron maiden (not in that order)
  18. fookin anoying ! boom boom boom boom boom boom boom ........need some drum and bass at least the bass line has a tune to it!
  19. use 15ft roll as you will have about 3 foot spare on that oh and get some high temp paint (something rated to over 600*c ) its what iv done to mine and it seems to hold back the rust! ......been in the elements for about a year now with no signes of rust yet that front pipe is a bugger to keep rust free! oh and check the "box" under the exhaust for rust as thats the 1st place ul get a hole!
  20. dont get 250 gaskets as they wont fit, the cylinder and heads are bigger so it wont line up properly.
  21. yeah reg/rect here too oh and pm me ur e-mail.....il send u a manual if u want
  22. you might get away with the carb, but if ur putting a filter on like mine ul have to play with the carb settings anyway. its gonna be a ball ache to sort out the mix but im sure ul get there. oh look on ebay for silicone pipe (like what u get for cars) as thats where i got mine from. if ur getting the unlimited cdi all that means is it has no rev limiter! so might be wise getting an electric rev counter/tachometer fitted (also from ebay) so you can keep an eye on it (plus it will come in handy for sorting the carb) as to the seat, iv made a custom one...its not fitted yet as i need to make the bracket. and finally iv sorted the fender mount problem if you cut the mount off up to the seat, you will need to put a brace on there (like the sissy bar on mine but it dont have to be a sissy bar, just a metal plate will do.) then there will be part of the frame that comes to an end (which u havent cut) its the ends of the triangle bit of the frame that u sit on. there should be a hole in the end of each one. weld a 10mm bit of studding in the hole (or chop the head off a bolt) then u can use that to mount a custom fender. but if ur keeping the struts then have a look for some smaller suspension springs to lower it an inch or so, should make the back end look better. and one last thing ........take ur time, the worst thing u can do is rush things, so limit urself to a job a day. iv been doing mine for a year now and its still not quite done. its getting there. still need to finish some bits and bobs. think there is about 14 things left to do.
  23. just get one of these lol My link
