  1. id say the reliability issues with the aprillia answer this question, get the DT! plus there is a whole section on here dedicated to dt tuning and maintenance so you will never be short on advice, and finally you could put a 175cc bore kit on it for next to knowt. if you weigh up the pros and cons of each bike, the dt beats the aprillia hands down!
  2. "I'll be there till i drop." then wake up in hospital with the other leg in cast! happy birthday m8 dont get too shloshed!
  3. ok for starters that should of gone up in the vid section and secondly what the fook is that guy thinkin!!!?? letting a 4 year old drive a bike!! if he is willing to let his child ride his bike, on a road with no protective gear then he dont deserve kids! what if a car or lorry pulls out on them? shows how much he cares! pillock!

    WOO HOO!

should be takin the xvs bobber out for its 1st test drive on the 11th just got the chain sorted, the rad is on and im sortin out the loom this week so keep an eye out as im gonna try and post a vid (havent done it b4) so fingers crossed it works lmao.
  6. the bobber is an xvs 125 dragstar and not an xv 125 virago and im not sure if they used the same head bearings. so i cant help you on that one m8 sorry. as to the engine check the crank case breather pipe (its the black pipe coming from the engine in the 2nd pic) and make sure there are no kinks in it (looks like there is a kink making the pipe flat and closed), and that the pipe has no holes. looks like oil vapor escaping the pipe and settling on the engine, then dust from the road settling on top of it. the reason why im not worried is cause you have had the bike for a while and the engine just looks dirty, there is nothing out of the ordinary just give it a wipe, and check the pipe, then give it a week and see what its like.
  7. it depends what ur after, i had mine set to bite half way, but found that i needed the lever to be a little "loose" to do it. the cable has 2 adjusters, but the bottom one (near the engine casing) did the best job then the top one just adjusted the lever.
  8. to be honest m8 that engine looks ok a little dirty but ok, there isnt any Major oil leaks, just ur average grime lol if thats what ur worried about, then dont worry its fine.
  9. ooo nasty m8 hope ur ok, just take it easy and dont eat too much ice creme lol get well soon.
  10. iv never laughed so hard in my life! clasic!
  11. well hopefully you will be able to get it sorted m8 , normally gear change problems are due to the oil or clutch adjustment. oh and one more thing, adjust the clutch cable properly, i found that after a bit, gear changes started being stiff, due to the clutch cable being slack at the engine end. good luck m8.
  12. as far as i know you can take a 125 test that restricts you to a certain amount of power for a couple of years then you can get a bigger bike, but im not sure m8 they have changed it all. and iv got to get the misses to pass her car test 1st b4 i can start saving for my bike test but yeah the wheels are just a test, iv used rattle can enamel from Wilkinson's on top of hammerite special metal primer then finished with enamel clearcoat they have been in the elements since last june and have some hairline cracks forming but im quite impressed with how long its lasted, but i will be re-doing it in the summer
  13. hmmm .....maybe you could help me out? im after some metal engine bushes but there an odd size, and i cant find them anywhere. im after 3 pieces, 11mm O/D , 8mm I/D, about 150mm long, would you be able to help? i wish i had the money to buy a lathe... right jealous
  14. if it turns out to be the gears or selector or clutch iv got them for sale out of my 2004 xvs 125 the crank went in 2008 so im left with the bottom end and engine casing, if your interested PM me
  15. no m8 all iv done to the frame is take the rear fender mount off. so its still the same size
  16. yeah i know what ur on about m8, i was gonna make a mount that fitted to the swing arm so it kept the rear fender low profile.
  17. i prefer kitchens personally, as your closer to the kettle.
  18. dont suppose you could post a couple of pics (or links) of the xvs 125 bobers? iv searched google and havent seen any the re-weld sounds a good idea, but as you said, you need to check the clearance.
  19. im not even gonna begin telling you how annoying it is to try and fit a k&n filter to the xvs 125! its just easier not to as to "down gearing" what are you looking for? more acceleration? drop a tooth or 2 on the front sprocket (but your top speed will drop ) but saying that....the bike should pull a bit better in 5th
  20. not sure if the 650 fender will fit as the 650 has a bigger wheel so most likely a bigger fender and fender bracket if you cut the old fender (but leve the mount) then your going to have a massive gap between fender and tire. if you cut the mount off then you need to find another way to attach the fender. its sort of a catch 22. iv done both and wish i didnt cut the fender as far as i did (you want to cut it about half way up the sides!) and keep the fixing holes. then cut the fender mount off , then get 2 bits of metal, one end welded to where you cut the old mounts off and the other to follow the fender down to the mounting holes . say 12mm or M12 steel rod's should do the trick.
  21. cheeky fooker! now that maps up .........i know where u live! muhahahaha and welcome to the forum jordan hope you enjoy your stay at the mad house!
  22. who ever thought that up must be a really board biker! but mint idea might give it a go
  23. you should of posted up "XVS 125 HIGHWAY HAWKS FOR SALE!!!" and just watch to see how many views you get lmao but yeah cheers chris! nice find! next time im looking for gold nuggets in the local river remind me to invite you!
  24. right been out today and fixed it! you will never guess what it was!! the engine has a secondary air system (PAIR) to reduce emissions, basically its a reed valve on the head cover that lets air into the exhaust to get rid of any unburnt fuel, there is meant to be some kind of control unit that allows a certain amount of air in......but i dont have one lol so looks like im gonna have to come up with an alternative. its always the bloody simplest of things! but yeah cheers for all the help, much appreciated! no doubt il run into more problems along the way lol
