old urls not working
Hiya I have setup live view as previously installed with the old version. Now it's enabled, the topic views counter will be updated as one loads a topic. Previously, the topic views would be written to another database and the topic views updated every 3 hours. The reason for this was at the time on our older server at peak times we were getting around 300 registered users at once (Exc guests). Getting This data on a reduced level significantly reduced overhead on the topics database table. When the board was very busy it overcomes the write lock initiated when the topic counter is updated which would slow the forum down serverley. Just over a month ago our server was upgraded to run newer versions of the forum application, a newer database version, and we've physically upgraded the server. I'm hoping that these upgrades will allow the forum to run with live view enabled without affecting page load times. It's difficult running the forums and getting the correct balance between server speed, reliability and functionality on a very small budget, actually negative budget :-p so please bear with me on this, I'm trying my best.

old urls not working
Hiya and thanks for pointing this out armyofda12mnkeys. You're correct after upgrading the forum software several server settings were reset, and I forgot to modify the rewriting options! As for why it has taken so long, my apologies for that, I have been away for the week and haven't been online :-(

5000 Bikers bring Easter cheer to the troops
Hiya, recieved this PR from the RAF, thought I would post in its full: Thousands of bikers from across the United Kingdom will join together for a massive ‘Ride Out’ next month in support of the Armed Forces. The ‘RAF Wings Appeal Easter Egg Run’ will take place on Sunday 28 March and funds raised will go to the RAF Wings Appeal, providing help for past and present members of the RAF, including our troops currently serving in Afghanistan. The bikers will ride out from a huge variety of points across England and Wales, meeting up with thousands of others at the Meole Brace Park & Ride in Shropshire, before finally going on to RAF Cosford as one huge group. Last year’s event proved to be an incredible visual spectacle with hundreds of members of the public lining the bridges of the M54 to watch almost 3,000 bikers make their way to the RAF base. Following its major success, organisers are hoping to smash the total of people taking part this year. Funds raised will go to the RAF Association’s Wings Appeal 2010 and its ‘Miles More Minutes’ campaign. Currently RAF personnel who are deployed overseas in theatres such as Afghanistan receive 30 minutes of government funded phone calls to their families back home per week. This is the equivalent of 4 ½ minutes per day. Miles More Minutes aims to fund more time for them to speak to their loved ones, enabling them to feel closer even though they are so far apart. Entry is £5 - to take part, or find out where your nearest starting point is, visit www.rafa.org.uk for more details. RAF Wings Appeal spokesperson Dougie Bancroft, said: “If you want to make a difference and have a great time while doing so – then join in this fantastic event with hundreds of other motorcyclists from across the United Kingdom. YamahaClub Database Server Upgrade

Site Down and Slow Loading
Hi everyone, Sorry for the slow loading times over the last hours, the site was trying to be hacked, someone was trying to insert malicious files on to the network. Nothing was affected, but we take great concern when we see anything inappropriate happening through the network and needed to ensure the site hadn't be exploited in any way. Our systems were scanning for any files possibly affected which slowed the site down considerably, no files were compromised. Moving forward we are continuing to make improvements to our systems to enhance security, and minimise any disruptions to the YamahaClub. Thanks again for your patience. Alex

New look
Hiya all, thanks for the feedback. I will start with the flats, the flag system was a module which was installed which isn't yet compatible with the latest version of the forum software. We will be re-installing this once there is a stable release of the module. In regards to speed, the forum should actually be quicker due to server upgrades and database changes. It seems a few of you are noticing issues and I will be looking into it. Cheers ALex
