  1. Blimey Kev, you know how it was reassembled......It is a large single 2 stroke so it is never going to run like a 4 potter. Try the WD40 trick around everywhere when the bike is running. The engine speed will change where the leak is. Has it been torqued down correctly? Is the head warped? Did they use new gaskets? then the usual rubber to the carb.

    Re'vit leathers

They used to have a good reputation, not sure now but I haven't heard anything bad. Rather than leather, have you considered gortex textile? More flexibility in warmth, waterproof, wind proof, tough and breathable. I just got some Alpine stars and Dainese gortex and they are great. They are much better than standard textiles. With leather you will be sweating in the summer (every tried to pull a pair of leathers on, on on a hot day?) and wet in the winter.
  3. That would have been a tough ride. I rode back from Marseilles to Essex just stopping for fuel and coffee on a GSXR and that was tough. I was walking like John Wayne for a week and only got 99 miles to each tank of fuel so had to stop under an hour each time. I was in hyperspace mode though .
  4. I had a letter reminding me to get the bike booked in for it's 600 mile/ 6 weeks service. Shamefully I have only just ridden 200 miles on the thing. I called the dealer and they said miles were more important than time so call them when I was close to 600 miles. I dont just want to ride up and down the M1 for 400 miles so I will get it booked in when I get some miles on it. I think I have the RD as many miles now.
  5. Very nice! The last time I popped over I stayed near Saintes, a few miles or so to your West. I used to follow the 24 hour endurance so Le Mans and Le Castellet, when they held the races at the Paul Ricard curcuit, were regular trips for me.
  6. You asked for legallity, not if you might get away with it. Another day might have got you a fine, points and another trip to the MOT station.
  7. Do you havw any pictures of after the repair? Only joking, it looks great and I am glad it is back on the road.
  8. You are welcome. Welcome to the forum.
  9. Hi and welcome to forum. What part of France are you living in?
  10. Legal providing it is a road can and not marked differently, isn't too loud and the insurance company knows. It may fail an MOT due to excessive noise.
  11. Standard with the no claims. You normally can only use the no claims once so if your blade is using it then you need to check with swintons that you can use it again, I doubt they will let you. I am running 2 levels of NCB with 2 companies and one policy has 2 bikes on it but I have NCB on both policies earnt by running consecutive insurance for different bikes. It does seem a little unfair as if I have an accident in the car I would potentially lose my NCB on both bike policies when I haven't been able to use that against the bikes. Can you get a classic policy on the blade and add the donkey to it?
  12. That has to be about the same as the RD for me. Have you spoken to Lee? Once you get into the small money bracket then there is little to gain. If you compare it to some of the grand plus some young riders are paying then it sounds reasonable. Don't forget that even if you dont ride it you are still insured for theft, fire or if it falls over in the wind. 29p a day or a little more than the price of a box of 20 cigarettes a month.
  13. Post 40 says login to farcebook. I dont do it so I can't see that vid. How much does the rev's go up? How carefully was it reasembled and did they clear all of the piston on an engine split? It symptoms could be an air leak but it could also be a chunk of piston fighing with the bearings in the crank.
  14. Please remember workshop questions go in the workshop section. Workshop questions in the New Members Section often get locked, normally by me.

  17. True Tommy but the design or price bad have put them off. I will keep the current list going for a short while and then ask for addresses and sizes. These should be sent to me by PM for security. The list stands at: 1. 2.noise, jimmy, Blackhat 3 4.ddt, bippo, upyours, tommoxs, slice, drewps
  18. Got to agree that a bulb required for the second fix. The bulb has 2 filaments, one for tail and one for stop. You need a stop & tail one from Halfrauds 21/12w 12v. the bottom metal part will have 2 pins that are offset (one higher than the other) so you can only fit it one way.
  19. Yep, Kev's shirt will have it's own postcode and be in band C for Council Tax.

Standard. The bike runs a very advanced system for it's age. Very dated now though. In my opinion they are too good to mess with. 1965 with 12v electrics, autolube and an electric starter!!
  21. Cheers people. At 9 shirts, including all discounts so far, the cost per shirt is £22.50. This will go down a little if we hit 11 or over and the price includes printing front and back and the postage costs delivered to your door.
  22. I am voting number 4 so 1 2 3 4 DDT, Please copy the above and add your name to ONE option and we can see what is favourite. Cheers.
