Sr125 starting problems
It's OK, we have been keeping ourselves busy waiting for you to pop back Take the spark plug out. Leave it out overnight. Pour a teaspoon of engine oil into the spark plug hole and, without the spark plug in it, turn the engine over. Pour a spoonful of petrol into the spark plug hole, refit the plug and connect the ht cap. Start the bike.

I would suggest you keep his number as he does lots of bits like this that should be easy, but some how aren't.

yamaha xv125 replacing fork seals
The problem sometimes is that the inner cylinder can spin in the lower leg. This means that the fork won't come apart. Other than that it is a straightforward job. I recently had 2 done but didn't have the time to do them myself so I got a local bloke to do them for me - same day - for £20 and I supplied the new seals.

Anyone got access to a lathe?
I am waiting for a call from him later in the week as he is blasting and repainting a set of RD400 barrels and heads for me. He has done a few jobs for me and I have always been happy. His prices have always been reasonable and he managed to skim a rear wheel brake hub for me within a couple of hours - hub still on the rim and with the tyre on so I managed to get the wheel off, hub skimmed and wheel back on the same day. He is one of these "old boy" engineers and works from his house. Give him a call - his name is Bob.

Anyone got access to a lathe?
It would be helpful if we knew what part of the Country you were in - One of the benefits in filling in a little of your profile. There is a guy near me who could probably do the job. He is in Leicester.

RIP Rik Mayall
Seems he passed away today. I am still working out what was going on in The Young Ones and Bottom but they were funny.

What bike next for a retired Grumpy old git?
My TS250 has only done about 600 miles since the rebuild. Pretty shameful really. That includes 2 squires runs. I know Andrew wants it, he just doesn't know it yet.

Least we not forget 70th Anniversary D-Day landings
I love these too. It has been a very moving weekend seeing all the old boys back at the Normandy beaches. I loved the story of the bloke who escaped from his care home and went over and the almost 90 year old ex para who tandom jumped over the weekend.

How not to help a newbie!
Swiftone- nothing big nor clever about that. Everyone has to learn and that just shows how crap the country has become when a "fellow biker" is verbally abused rather than encouraged. We all had to start somewhere.

Rd r r - the tale of 3 RD400's - More of a saga than a project.
One carb rebuilt. front master cylinder rebuilt. Rear brake cylinder off and stripped. Left hand crank cover off for painting. 2 stroke oil tank almost emptied to remove the tank. I started to empty in into an old bottle, Got waylaid with something else and the bottle filled and then overflowed all over the floor . Got some paper towels down at the moment to start the clear up. I have to pop out later so I will see if I can get some cat litter. Front Rear

Andrew - you are a bad man!! Interesting read Bippo. I guess that the TDM and Vstrom could be contenders for Mike if he wants that style. I do love a V twin.

What bike next for a retired Grumpy old git?
I've just seen the VFR price, buy a Triumph.

What bike next for a retired Grumpy old git?
Any middleweight would do it Mike. Something with a little faring and some panniers/topbox would do and that covers most things. I would seriously look at a Honda VFR.

~~Daily Feed, post what made you laugh today ~~
Since the halal meat fiasco I have stopped buying meat at the supermarket and have been going to the local organic farm where they breed their own animals and take them to a local abattoir. If I buy a curry from the takeaway I expect it to be halal, but I don't if I buy some lamb chops from Tesco. Last week they had no rump steak in the shop so I asked the lady to keep me a couple of pieces of rump for when I popped in today. This is what she had for me: By the way, the ruler is a full size 12 inch one. My Man V Food challenge is back on Well it made me laugh.
