Looking much better than any of my RD's at the moment. Very nice.
As I said earlier, have a look in the rally and rideout section and there is info of the clubs annual meet and ride weekend and the annual RD clubs weekend is in a few weeks. I pop in as a day visitor to that one.
High throttle position problems normally are: the main jet, air flow or petrol flow.
This still applies. If the plug is the right colour I would check the fuel tap filter, the fuel tank breather, check the air filter and clean and reset the carb.
Today I have been mainly spraying bits and cleaning the huge quantity of 2 stoke oil I spilled when I was emptying the tank.
Both carbs rebuilt after a couple of ultrasonic washes.
The calipers are still away being referbed.
The barrels and heads are still away being referbed.
Too much to do now!!
Did you investigate why the other engine went pop? Chances are that the bike was running lean if "pop" means the piston holed. Jetting and the correct amount of air are key to 2 stroke reliability and running characteristics.
Before you do anything you need to check that the bike is running within the air/fuel/oil range. checking the plug colour after a spell of 3/4 throttle riding is the way to start. Next would be to check the jets and clean and re set the carb and make sure the air filter is still doing its job. Assuming you have no other air leaks that is.

True.
I think we should call first posts like that "Hellop". Sort of a "hello" and sort of a "Help".
Anyone know where I can buy mothballs as I have started to want to smell like my old Nan? - God bless her.
Because a newbie replied to the post and then it got a few additional posts - including yours. Easily done when searching and trying to help. The original poster only posted this and couldn't be arsed to say hello in the newbies section so I am not really surprised that it took 2 years for someone to answer.
Hi and welcome to the forum. Lots of 2 stoke lovers here and a few RD owners, including me. We are a friendly bunch and a few of us meet at Squires in Yorkshire for the 2 stroke weekend in September- see the rally rid out section. For detailed info have a look at the aircooledrdclub site. A few here are members there too and their rally is mid July in derby.
I would love a TR 4a to 6 roadster would be fine.
Hold on fella! That is the same excuse Foamy used to get out of his run after we all paid. Oh well, at least I still have some T shirt money left.
Congrats to you both.
If you are going to do these yourself I guess you have the fork disassembled and the slider out. Heat is the only way if the seals are set solid. You could try a heat gun (paint stripper type) making sure that all of the seal is heated. A lot of people swear by putting the end in hot cooking oil as this heats evenly. Obviously hot oil can be very dangerous so be careful. Heat cooking oil in a pan. When sizzling put the seal end of the lower fork into the oil for a short while. Remove and then try and prise the seal out. Alternatively drill 2 small holes in the seal at 180 degrees apart and screw self tapping screws into the holes. Use the oil method and then pull or lever on the self tappers or try and get the seal to circulate in the fork lower. Remember that the fork end will be mighty hot once immersed in bit oil and the oil will not be any good for cooking chips once you have dunked the fork into it.
Well good luck and welcome. What's the plan? Are you looking to get the bike back on the road. Lots of parts are available to do this and there are a lot of DT experts here. Best to start a project thread in the project section as all questions and answers will be in one place.
I know he was a bit behind with work as his compressor broke (that is what he said to me). And the job he has of mine should have been ready last Thursday / Friday but when I spoke to him on Monday he said it now should be ready today or tomorrow. Have you phoned him? I will try and give him a call today. I will PM you.
There is a huge amount of info on a wide range of bikes on here. I still get surprised when I search sometimes to find long threads I have never seen before. Some of them are great reading. I also like the some of the classic ones like "how fast can my 125 go" with the bullpoo meter. What a gem!
