  1. Hi and welcome. Varadero would be my choice.

    radiator cap

The rad cap should only let anything out if the pressure gets too high. you may have an air lock. Never try to take the cap off when, or soon after, the bike has been run as you well seriously hurt yourself.
  3. You can't beat a good, phallic, tornado to ride through, OG I have just been to Tescos and got the only type of jump leads they had, super duper heavy duty. Difficult to clap to the terminals, but I managed to jump it off the car. Blew a main fuse in the process (replaced) and have just reconnected the Optimate so hopefully it will be charged just in time for the thunder clouds tomorrow.
  4. My heated grips are direct to the battery. I haven't been arsed to put a relay into the ignition. At the moment I have taken the fuse out so they can't be switched on. I doubt if I will get around to it.
  5. I got up this morning, sun shining, said to the other half that today was going to be a great day. Got ready for work so on with my M/C trousers, I uncover the bike and off with the security whilst I have my last cuppa and ciggie, turn the key and.....................................nothing! I had left the parking light on all night. I don't have any jump leads so I plug in the Optimate to see if I can get a trickle into it and get it started (too old to push the bugger). The Optimate just looks at me, only the green light on and not even doing it's normal flashing lights routine. I guess there was not even enough power to show that it was connected. It is a new battery but I have the old one which is fine unless it gets really cold but couldn't be arsed to change it and then change it back this evening. I have one of those solar chargers that I brought when I had 2 cars and one was rarely used so I used it as a trickle charger. I connected this and the alarm kicked in. Plugged the Optimate in and hurrah, it is charging. So I had to use the car today. Not a happy bunny . But as I said, it could happen to anyone!
  6. That what I thought. There are even phone apps that show you, within a certain distance, who has Twit-tit and what they said. Do they really think that their lives are so interesting that the world wants to know? That is just, plain, wrong. But funny though! I am amazed as the poll so far, either lots of people talk about it but don't do it or they do it but don't want everyone to know. It is anonymous as you don't need to post and I can't tell who has voted. I thought that the Twit-ers and Farce-book would be out in front, by miles. It just goes to show you!
  7. Come on Peeps. you don't have to post, just vote if you want to! Do I really want my ex misses to know I am living with a 20 year old Thai pre-op transexual? I don't think so!!!!!!!!! Err..................That was an example BTW.
  8. Hi and welcome Dave. Have a look down the home page, at the bottom are the technical pages split by bike types. If it is about your personal life, then go to the Yamabyss
  9. Better than being in the "two faced book" mate!

    Woooooo

The new owner sits on his pride and joy knowing that without a quality security chain and padlock it may be the last time he sees the bike.
  11. You and me both. Well that should be 2 votes for "No" then .
  12. I was just wondering if I am the only person not to Tweet, Face(?), Link or anything else? Everyone seems to want to talk about themselves and wherever I go the talk is about "Social networking" - How social it can be using your phone or computer is beyond me! I thought it was more anti social and social was meeting up with your mates. I even get random emails from people who I have only spoken to about some possible work asking me to add them to my "friends". I don't even know these people and a 5 minute conversation about a possible work contract doesn't mean we are mates! Personally, I don't do any of it. I think it can be dangerous and I don't want to know that someone has just clipped their toe nails. The same, I would guess, as they don't want to know that I have just trimmed my nasal hair. Multiple answers are OK if you want to take part. Cheers.

    mot - exhaust

I just wanted to point out the pitfalls in case someone read the thread and thought it was legal to do this. With the sticker removed all the police can do you for is; No insurance and (I think) contravening the Road Vehicle Construction and Use Act 1986 (Possibly 2 counts; noise and illegal exhaust). These can accrue fines, points, re MOT or possible vehicle seizure (no insurance). They can not "do" you for no MOT as they will not be able to tell what exhaust you had fitted at MOT time. Rider beware, but lots of people do it every day and don't have a problem. Get a "Tug" or have an accident and you may be on sticky ground.
  14. Och aye. A good, budget, option there BWJ . Or scratch the other one to match.

    mot - exhaust

Well done for the MOT pass but you were lucky. If people ride with a "not for road use" or a baffle out exhaust, in my opinion, that is fine. However, before you do this please make sure you know what the penalties are. There could be points and a fine involved. And points do not make prizes! There are very separate regulations for the MOT tester and the Police. Remember the police can also ask that you re MOT the bike, your insurance will be void, you may get points/fine. Covering up the wording, on the wrong day, could be construed as "trying to pervert the course of justice". It is up to you but just be aware!!!!!
  16. No but I have run a few pedestrians down! It will not look right if it is textured and rubbed out. It will look like you had a scratch and rubbed it out. I would leave it and keep my eye out for a good secondhand one, or new one if you are minted.
  17. Assuming you haven't ridden the bike and you are saying that the battery, when connected to the bike, is going flat and you have a newish battery I would guess that some "addition" is shorting somewhere. What has been fitted that is not stock? (Alarm, heated grips, Aux plug, extra lights etc.) If you have any of these then I would look at these first. If you have ridden it and it looses battery power over time then I would do the battery test as mentioned before at 5k revs to see what voltage you are getting.
  18. You may be too late for it now. Not sure what Social Services would think if they knew you kept your kids in an oven .
  19. Hi and welcome. As well as shops, there are loads of bits you can buy online. Some will take a little fettling. I prefer straight bars on this type of bike but with forward controls I would sit on it and see just how comfortable it would be to ride. Cut the back off, put a single seat on it and a very short rear mudguard. Back end, sorted.
  20. TZR wheels will be stacks of cash (if they fit) and a new rim and spoke set at around £200 a wheel is not a pleasant thought. Can you get some single spokes and repair the ones that need doing for now?
  21. I was talking to her Months ago about liking the small Airfix soldiers and Airfix models as a kid (as well as Meccano) and I got a couple of kits for Christmas. I was looking for model tools and scalpels and this came up! I was really hinting at getting an old skool Meccano set but one of the models is a TR4a so I am happy with that I get enough sh*t at work, I don't need any at home .
