  1. Ah, now I know. I did used to use a quality Silkolene oil and found it very good but have moved to Rock oil stuff now. Probably a good time to remind people that most car oils contain additives that will kill a wet clutch in a bike so the bargain car oils from their local supermarket may not be a bargain after all.
  2. Good list Drewps! number 11 is my favourite. Rudolph, a communist Russian Tzar, was looking out of his window. His wife enters the room and askes' "what is the weather like today"? "It is raining" replies the Tzar. "Are you sure it is not sleet"? questions the wife, to which the Tzar replies' "Rudolph the red knows rain dear". Disclaimer: It might not be funny but at least it is seasonal.
  3. I use Rock Oil Guardian 10/40 semi synth in the SV (V twin) and rate it very highly. JASO MA, JASO MA2 and API SL approved - whatever that means.
  4. I would love to see him cross the QE2 or Forth road bridge in a cross wind.
  5. Well, not much progress on the TS. Part are still arriving but I have not done much to the bike. Lots of things are keeping me busy, family not being well, trying to run 10 big projects at work and the granddaugthers birth have taken there toll on time and finances. I really need to sort out a new shed as a number one priority. I have been earnestly looking but I can only fit a 7 x 10 on the slab so I will need to do some groundwork. Ideally I would like a 16 x 10 but may have to settle for a 12 x 10. I have realised that I have brought a project that you can't get parts for. When the parts do show up, they are the price of a new project each!!!! The earlier banana exhaust TS parts seem to be easier and cheaper to get hold of! I did get a parcel this morning. It looks like this: It is in very good condition but should be chrome. I am hoping to get it stripped and chromed in time. As an example to my earlier rant about parts prices, compare it to this part on evilbay at the moment LINKY Read the ad description; "NOS, dented and marked", take the item price and postage, add the import duty and the Royal Mails charge to collect the duty, add the price for knocking out the dents and re-chroming and you get............................. well a lot of money. The yellow one I brought was not cheap plus I am guessing about £100 to get it re-chromed. Bl00dy Suzukis. Well, enough of the moaning. I need to get the bike sorted for the 2012 YOC weekend. More updates coming soon.
  6. Bloody old Suzuki's. You just can't get the parts.

  7. Hi and welcome tot the forum. I just missed out on a MS50 recently off evilbay. I was going to ride it to the YOC weekend. This one was what I was bidding on LINKY
  8. I would say hello in the newbies section, check and adjust the chain and then change the oil making sure I had the right type and level before I did anything else.
  9. Just remember what they say Drewps...................................Absinth makes the heart grow fonder.

  16. Cheers mate. I have started to dress like Clive Dunn now . I saw her for the first time today, she is lovely. Luckily she doesn't have my looks!!!
  17. Wouldn't the XT have a 1E6 frame number? 583 says TT to me
  18. Ahhhhh Brentford Nylons, fibreglass curtains, asbestos insulation and lead paint..................... they didn't do me any harm. I think??
  19. I think I am. Very nice bikes and that one looks like one of the earliest.
  20. 1976 TT500C maybe? Probably American or Canadian.
  21. Read below and learn mate. I havent really still got any. For those who cant remember them they were basically plastic woven garments, including underwear. Because they were plastic they never adsorbed anything so everything washed out. They did seem to go a dirty grey colour very quickly and made you sweat, especially the skiddies. I think fabric softener has the same basic ingredients as hair conditioner and they are interchangeable. I brought a 2 pack of Nickwax recently. The wash and the waterproofer. Highly recommended form me.
