92 Euros HERE but they do seem easy to make. Good luck. Make a few and sell the rest on evilbay to recoup your money.

I was going to use pitted forks for a re-chrome so I am interested also.
  4. Welcome to the forum. Lots of vintage lovers here including XS's.

Not sure if this has been posted before but this site shows accident reports in the UK from '99 to '10. It can be filtered for types of vehicle. LINKY You can see just how safe your ride to work really is.
  6. Satan Santa sent me your reply by mistake i think. He forgot my Ducati as well.
  7. Tere tulemast. Hi and welcome to the forum. Great introduction
  8. Hi and welcome to the forum.
  9. I would agree with that. Just remember that bleed nipples can shear off and pistons can seize. Brakes can be a painful job to do right if they have not been maintained properly. Stainless steel nipple replacements can help and a set of new seals with the new fluid and pads should have you doing stoppies in no time.
  10. A good thread on oil here I prefer Rock Oil. Please do not use car oil. Tyre pressures are never going to be accurate even if you use a good quality pressure gauge. As soon as you take off the gauge, the air escapes. I run my bike with slightly higher pressures as it seems to handle better. Forums are full of questions such as "What tyres" and "What pressures". I prefer to make my own mind up and these are sooooooooo subjective.
  11. Ho ho ho everyone. Not too many sleeps left until that fat bloke squeezes down your chimney and visits your kids bedrooms in the dead of night - a bit worrying that!! Has anyone put any bike bits on their list, or am I the only sad one? My list is nothing but bike bits with a new pair of shocks heading up the list. Not being able to wait until Christmas I just treated myself to a NOS swingarm with the tophats and the 3 spacers. £50 plus postage, bargain as the tophats and spacers cost more than that on their own LINKY What's on your list?? PS - Don't forget to keep your eyes on the Halfords website as they normally have a 50% off tools promo at this time of the year and it is worth looking at their professional range.

Hmmmm. 2 possible solutions Si; 1) Handlebar end mirrors, possibly 2) Ask Santa for a healthy eating cookbook I would look at option 1 only personally.

Not sure if this is true, a DT80 engine perhaps? The 2 stroke would be more fun though.

It could be what Sammy advised. I would guess a top end rebuild at the very least. On a '58 plate the bike would still be worth saving, even with the other bits that need doing. The easiest 2 options are; 1) Sell the bike as a non runner 2) Buy another engine and fit it. This is normally easier than messing with stripping an engine. One for sale here LINKY
  17. Hi Mike Bell. Have you dropped a clanger?
  18. 200 Dollar fine!! They should be introduced to Mr Smith & Mr Wesson.
  19. It could be broken.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Loads of middle aged and old blokes on here so you are in good(ish) company. L plates are like a red rag to a lot of drivers so get rid of them as legally quickly as you can. Confidence comes with experience and riding all year round. I do have to say that your timing to start riding isn't the best as winter is here but it will hold you in good stead. There is only 20 days to the shortest day and then the nights will get shorter. As for techniques, develop your own. Do make sure cars overtake you and don't force you into the curb but that is easier said than done on a small bike in the wet. If in doubt, slow down slowly until the idiot has passed. Don't grab anything too hard, especially in the wet. Look 2 to 3 time further ahead than you would in a car and expect everyone else to attempt to kill surprise you. It comes naturally after a while. Enjoy the grin on your face and the buzz you will get after a good ride. I still regularly want to ride a few extra miles when I have arrived at work in the mornings and I am year 36/37 of riding. Good luck.

I would be more worried about second gear. A lot of these pop out of second, it's a common fault.
  23. DirtyDT replied to fieldarcher's post in a topic in The Bar
I haven't but it will alter your speedo accuracy, change the steering characteristics (steer slower) and you should tell your insurers.
  24. DirtyDT replied to barkwindjammer's post in a topic in The Bar
    I will third the congratulations.

Is the gear ratio/box the same for 125/175mx - I am not sure but an expert should appear soon If the seals are gone is it detrimental to the engine ? - Yes. Re-read Blackhats post If you are going to split the engine it is pointless not changing the seals unless you know they are OK. Just a waste of gaskets, oil and time.
