  1. Hi and welcome to the forum. Save your cash and get its big brother, a 660.
  2. Hi and welcome to the forum. Park the bike legally to get some early brownie points with the examiner.
  3. Hi and welcome to the forum.
  4. I don't know either but I think that the satnav cards are a slightly different format so you would need to have a blank one that is satnav compatible. Also the files may not easily transfer due to their format. Although most satnav units are card free, this is how they update some built in car satnavs. I had the same problem with my tomtom so I brought a different one with lifetime upgrades. Not as good though and if it wasn't for the upgrades would sell it. Obviously a hypothetical question I would guess!!
  5. Cheers guy's. I was looking at a Yambits halogen which should be a straight swap. I decided that I might struggle to get this to fit the rims I have and they are quite different. I did buy a headlight from a GS450 but it wasn't that good. I ordered a complete, pattern, wetdream headlight unit earlier. That should mean that I can either use the whole unit, use the rims and glass if it fits the headlight holder or just use the glass. It has a 12v 60/55w H4 bulb so I ordered a couple 6v 35/35w H4 bulbs to go with it. I needed one with a pilot light so lets see what turns up.
  6. Do you want to come down and watch my corner shop? I remember cry baby jim breaks, he always used to jump up and down in a tantrum........well that's what I remember.
  7. Fuse(s) will be by the battery. Take out the plug for an hour. Connect the wires together. fit the battery. put the plug back in and try again. You may have also blown the warning lights and the reving trouble could be down to the cylinder being awash with fuel. Cheaper to try this first than buy a new CDI.
  8. Hi and welcome to the forum. Lots of jolly good people here from all over the world. I too used to moped race in the early '90's. Great fun. We used to race a Honda C50 most of the time with a 125 carb and 400 rear shocks.
  9. Use "paint" it can be found under the "accessories" folder in most wndows programes. For something slightly better but free use your search engine for paint.net. LINKY For easy resizing use PIXresizer, also free LINKY
  10. Check all the fuses to make sure you haven't blown one whilst touching wire together.
  11. It's not the winning it's the................................... Glad you had a great day Kev.
  12. Cheers. Some good advice. The chain is a 525 as standard and does have a split link so off in a flash (Gordon). I could jump in the car and get a new one today but will order one via the post. When I said ridable, that would be without a seat and I haven't put the footrests back on yet. It is nowhere near roadworthy yet. I know that we in the UK are lucky in that respect that we live on a small island so nowhere is too far to go to get something. I can drive anywhere in the country in less than a day. It does seem that all the good parts are your side of the pond and I have ordered stuff from Canada before but it takes forever to arrive here.
  13. Sounds about right. Have a look at the link LINKY Looks like number 20 turns and pulls on number 11 which disengages number 8. When you took the clutch cover off, did you note the position of item 25 relative to something on the bike? If you can feel pressure when you pull the clutch in then is sounds like items 11 & 20 are engaging. What you need to do is take off item 25 and then move it a little further away from the front of the bike. This shouldn't be too tricky as item 20 should be sitting in a locating hole in the clutch cover so: Off with items 26, 27 and 25 noting where 25 is at the moment. replace 25 a little further from the front of the bike and replace 26 & 27. Being careful of the spring (24). Refit the cable and test it. Good luck.
  14. Cheers. It is still a bit rough in parts but much better then when I brought it. I was looking to grind down the peened part if I took the links out as it is 525 chain. I will probably get another chain now. A bit gutted because I am close to getting it ridable (around the garden at least). Just hoping that I don't have to mess with the carb settings or it need a new clutch. I won't have a chance to give it a good shakedown before Squires, assuming It gets finished.

    XJ600 Project

Free..............................................my favorite word. What a result!
  16. Can anyone tell me if there were different headlights (glass part) fitted to RD400's please.
  17. Update, Decided I really need to get on with this if it is going to Squires. I thought the electrics were done, but I was wrong. Neutral light wasn't working - just the bulb so changed that. Still sorting the headlight and clock illumination - I will post a separate thread re: RD400 headlights later. Went to put the front sprocket on - the lock washer was wrong. Sorted now so that is on. Front wheel plate assembled and front wheel on. Went to fit the new front brake cable but they sent me a clutch cable. Gave the new chain a good dose of chain lube. went to fit it and it is too long; by 4 links. So I either have to buy a chain splitter or get the right size chain. All the ones on ebay seem to be 104 links but the Suzuki workshop manual says 100 links! So 4 hours later and the front wheel and the front sprocket are on! Not a good day. Oh yeh, put the side stand on. The bike looks like this at the moment.
  18. Pop over to evilbay and search for; "universal exhaust hanger" - should be something that takes your fancy. "exhaust strap" may give you different options.
  19. Don't forget to say hello in the newbies section. You will need a specialist insurer. Give these people a try LINKY
