Can spray painted plastics really look nice if done properly ?
DirtyDT replied to Dtboy85's topic in Yamaha Workshop
Easy if you prep them right. -
A lot of us on the forum are uk based. The issues we have sometimes is that we try and help using the information we have gathered over the years. As with all things Internet, half of it is just plain wrong. Even official service manuals of their time are not correct as they seem to change parts on a whim. Any hybred bike will be difficult to get plain and clear information on. Even simple things like cables may have come from something completely different. That is just the way it is. When guys try and help they are giving you the best information they can. We often get questions about similar things and any diagnosis online is going to be a best guess which is based on common faults with a model, standard fault finding protocol or similar experience. Even if people have tried to help and the information that they have shared is wrong. Due to wrong information out in internetland, this often helps as it can eliminate things or lead you closer to getting a definitive answer. As frustrating as this can be you have had assistance from some of the most knowledgable and respected guys here. Er, that's about it from me.

new bike being troublesome... wish i had the DT back :(
DirtyDT replied to wild foamy's topic in General
It shouldn't be overheating at normal running speeds. Shorting the fan is a good idea. Check fluid and air locks. Run the bike with the expansion or rad cap off for a while and see what happens to the fluid. Check the thermostat is opening. Check the water pump but assuming you can see water flowing with the rad cap off it should be ok. Check the rad. Reverse flush it That should do for starters. -
fz6 would be good enough for me.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

If you can't do it yourself. then I guess so. A lot more than a workshop manual though! 2 hours work (or a fair bit less TBH) so £97.50 per hour.

Easy Tiger..............................they pay my bills and pay for my bikes. What idle speed does it idle well at?

I would guess that any issues with a script notification would be down to the persons pc/mac not having an upto date java/flash/shock wave plug in or a security settings issue with their browser. I have my browser set to delete cookies on closing so if I am logged out it appears each time I open the browser and go to the site. The cookie works if the browser is left open. I am normally logged in anyway.

LINKY They should last for years.

1 Not a job you do at home. They should be balanced. 2 Probability just crud. Carefully pull the cases together using the crankcase screws or slightly longer ones. The last owner may have used sealer to join the half's making it harder to part them.

Muffs - never had some but they work very well by all accounts. People always get them to fit somehow. Keeps hands dry and warm (out of the wind). Heated grips - Don't keep your hands dry but warm up the fingers a little. The battery should be OK and switch them off a few miles from your destination to get the extra charge back in the battery. Fingers still get cold enough to make you want to cry. As witnessed by me each January. Gloves - Get proper winter gloves. Simples. For proofing - Nikwax. Get cleaner and proofer double pack. LINKY Dont wash anything in soap powder, ever!!

How do I rest my immobiliser as it keeps beeping.
DirtyDT replied to David Burrows's topic in New Members Welcome Area
Can't normally be ar5ed with one hit posters without a "hello" Try changing the battery in the fob. This can be a warning that the fob battery is failing. You're welcome!! -
Hi and welcome to the forum. Great intro BTW.

Making the bike cut out while running?

Can you disconnect the side stand down switch and see what happens? It should be reconnected before riding but if it starts you know where the fault is.
