fairing spark splitters and led question(s)
Write down the cost of pimping your ride. Add 10% for any additional fixings, wires etc. Add all this up and see what you can buy for the same money. Easier to sell a standard bike than a Frankenstein modified one!

Broken down at the side of the A1 :o( XJ600N
I am with airhead on this one. Battery knackered. You may get a bit longer out of it but as soon as the first cold morning hits, the bike won't start.

WPS = water pump seal. Look here and then check on ebay for one LINKY Parts 2 and part 8. You will need to change the oil and water not forgetting oil filter (if applicable) , and anti freeze.

What happened when you pushed the starter? Dim lights? Clicking, turning slowly over? Nothing? Did you notice the lights getting dimmer before it cut out? Have you tried to start it since and what happens?

Just got some BT 023's. Anyone running them?
Cheers Kev. That last line did make me laugh mate.

Have you been on high altitude training Foamy? It would double the weight of the bike and do nothing for the aesthetics. Not sue I would want all that liquid gas between my legs either.

YBR125 Cutting out on start with slightest throttle
See if you can get an iridium plug for it. All bikes have a certain starting techniques.

If it is the rec/reg then you will need to see what charge it is pushing through at various revs. A normal sign is the the lights dim at higher revs. If you get a healthy charge all through the rev range then it is unlikely that. When it stopped what happened when you tried to re-start it? I deleted the doubled post.

Love the description "the milky oily water squirts out of the black thing with metal pipe going in above the gearbox" There are a lot of people on the forum that can help and I can understand the urgency to get answers but can I suggest you read this first

Have you checked the spark plug? It is possible that the choke needs to be shut off either earlier or later.

Cheers for the info. They are still scrubbing in but with the 85 miles I have put on them so far, they do seem to be quite good. Mind you that is compared with an almost bald rear Avon VP2 supersport.

Duff links to service manual download sites
Most sites are just links to links to get traffic through their sites. Please remember that most, if not all, workshop manuals have a copyright and links to anything with a copyright is not allowed on the forum. This is due to the site owner being liable for copyright infringements and may lead to being extradited to the USA and held at guntantmo bay without a trial for 30 decades. I made some of this up but no links to copyright materials please. It will be removed.

Healthy Basic bike maintence 101
Thanks........................That's the best compiment I have had today. Very true and it cost £100 to replace just the swingarm bolt and bearings. Possibly but I save a fortune on cleaning products. I would recommend S Doc 100 cleaner. I agree. Always lube your chain with good quality chain lube. Not sure about that. I change my underwear at least once a month whether they need it or not! I can't argue with that.
