  1. I have had both KLE's and SLR's. Great bikes for this work and my old KLE had been around Europe a few times. TDM850, Tenere, Transalp?
  2. Whist you are waiting for it get some plusgas and spray the parts you know you are going to have to unbolt. It will give it time to help free these. Another tip is to change things like brake pins, bleed nipples and bolts to stainless ones as they won't corrode and seize. This makes any further work on these parts a lot easier.
  3. you need to check that you haven't jammed something. Out with the plug, into gear and slowly push the bike to see if all turns over freely.
  4. Hi Andy. Welcome to the forum.
  5. The kick starter return spring needs to be under a little tension and there is a locating hole that one end of the spring sits in.
  6. Not sure I understand this. If someone hits you then you might have a personal injury claim under normal insurance. If you injure yourself then you would be covered under the NHS, unless you are saying that some/all bike policies cover private self injury healthcare?
  7. SLR650? KLE500? KLE650
  8. Yes. A 4 stroke 250cc. Just take your time and it will make it a better adventure. I was reading a book about a guy riding all the way across south America on a Honda 90 a few months back.
  9. Hi and welcome to the forum. There is no such thing as a stupid question except "why didn't I ask first ?" My last project hadn't been on the road since 1995. Get some pics up and start a thread in the workshop or project sections.
  10. You just need to take the offside crank cover off. Drain the oil first. Don't forget to say hello. The details are in my signature with a link.

I am with most of the above really. neversaydie said it in a nutshell. Good luck.
  16. Most use a continuity type sender I think, a float would bob about too much. Have a look under the tank as there will be a wire coming from it. It may simply bolt in. Please remember that petrol and sparks get on very well.

This is a little more complicated than it sounds. As i see it, and i could be wrong, there are 4 main criteria for a spoke; Thickness - get this wrong and the hub and rim holes will need to be drilled out or the wheel may buckle if too thin Length - get this wrong and they just won't fit Length of thread - get this wrong and there will be thread showing above the nipple or you won't be able to tighten the spoke up Angle of head - another "won't fit" issue The head angle and length will normally change on a single wheel so from the (36?) spokes on each wheel you would end up with 18 of each kind. Even with two wheels with the same diameter the hubs are nearly certainly different so you will need to have all the measurements for the 4 types of spokes you need. Just to make sure. It is a long way to take them back if you have issues.
  23. Measure them up and then look here LINKY
