  1. It was snowing the last time I went there. It still would make my top 2 short haul trips. Inverness was freezing.
  2. I am losing the will to live.....................................

  4. I don't know. I would suggest that it is down to the test you book and that the ages are minimums.
  5. I have posted what I think the changes are in this thread
  6. Here is the full spec. I think from Jan 2013 in the UK Age 17 or 18 From 19th January 2013. You can take your test now on a 125cc and that's what you are limited to until the age of 19, when you can train and take another test if you choose - otherwise restricted permanently to 125cc. There is no automatic progression! Age 19 to 23 From 19th January 2013. You may take your test now on a 400cc or restricted bike (min 395cc - between 33 Bhp and 46.6 Bhp). When you pass then you can ride a restricted motorcycle producing no more than 46.6 Bhp Eg. older Kawasaki ER500 or a middleweight bike that has been professionally restricted. NOT however large bikes that originally produce more than 92 Bhp - this means pretty much everything over 600cc is excluded from you that is a modern sports bike or sports tourer. Also the power to weight ratio is set at a maximum of 0.2 Kw/Kg - this means light or smaller cc sports bikes are not allowed too. Now wait 2 years or until you are 24 when you can train and take another test if you choose. There is no automatic progression! Age 24 or older From 19th January 2013 you may take training and pass your test on a 600cc plus motorcycle that produces at least 53.6 Bhp (much more powerful than the minimum today). Pass your test on this and you have a licence for any motorcycle, any size, any power.

  8. Hi and welcome to the forum. Have a look down the main page and start a thread in the workshop, or other relevant, section.
  9. I am looking forward to this thread. Roses (and the like) tins are invaluable.
  10. A light dusting in my part of the Midlands this morning.
  11. Camping for me although it does double the size of the stuff you need to carry. Have a look at the Youth Hostel Association. (YHA). You may be able to get a half way between B&B and camping. I have used this all over Europe, camped when possible and B&B when wet of too smelly. The YHA and B&B do enable you to get that first hot drink in the morning, which I miss when camping. Torch, penknife and bottle opener are all stables.
  12. Yep. You need to subscribe for certain areas of the forum. Check out the "subscriptions" tab at the top of the page.
  13. I put bike oil in my deep fat frier.......................................................................I would not recommend it. The chips were horrid.
  14. A lot of banks give 10 miles recovery with their paid accounts.

The pics should be interesting. At least you are "friendly" with the DT's innards. Looking like snow and ice next week anyway.
  16. Excellent Bippo. You need: Credit card Mobile Satnav Recovery membership Waterproofs Toothbrush Providing you service the bike beforehand (and it is not Chinese) the bike should easily do this. Plan your route carefully - decide if you want to just eat miles or do you want to take photos for the YOC calender on the way? Think about charging your satnav and phone as you go. Easily done on a 12 volt bike. Plan stops - toilet, overnights, fuel and beverages. Make sure your satnav has these on it. Put away a little extra cash before you go. This lets you travel light and pop into the nearest Tesco extra/bike shop and buy anything you need. You can then post it home if you want to keep it or just chuck it. Don't be scared to deviate from the plan. Plan how your luggage is going to fit and tie down. Test it for weight, comfort and so it doesn't move or rub. Enjoy it.
  17. Welcome. This area is for issues with the forum as per the pinned thread My suggestions would be to; say hello in the newbies section and then; start a thread in the workshop section.
  18. Just to summarise the new stuff for UK riders and learners. LINKY
  19. LINKY Pretty restricted really. Whatever was wrong with just riding around the block once to get your bike license?
