  1. Cheers Nev. Always been a pour and squeeze man myself but when I got the TS I brought a tin of filter oil and used that. It is really thick though and don't know if the bike is struggling to suck air. I have just changed the foam and gone back to the pour and squeeze. Will see how it goes. Also got some closed cell foam for the airbox seal while I was at it.
  2. All those 2 stroke lovers out there with "wet" air filters. Do you prefer a soak and squeeze in 2 stroke oil, a spray with aerosol filter spray or something else? Thanks.
  3. First one is filtering, the second is overtaking . Er, not sure if that would stand up in court though.
  4. Good on you Foamy. I am with Welshwan on this. Smoke and have an E-lite if I fancy it. Rarely drink, don't gamble, don't have any other habits and can afford it, so why not? Giving up is a state of mind at first. You have to be mentally prepared and want to. After that it is about just getting over the odd craving.
  5. Always best to be safe. It works out best in the long run.

Hi and welcome to the forum young-en.
  8. I do it everyday, Always have done. Even with oncoming cars, most give you the space you need and every now and then you will get an idiot trying to squeeze you. I had a BMW the other day sat on the white line to try and stop me, I just rode around it. I work on 2 campuses and if I am off to the furthest place of work from me, there is about 5 miles of 40MPH average speed cameras. These are forward facing so just ride between them when they are doing 40. Stuff them up the inside too on occasion. Not saying I'm right, just what I do.

Cheers for the advice guys but I don't want to risk damaging anything else. Sometimes I just have to destroy things so I have decided to cut it off. I can get a NOS one so that is now going to be my route. I will leave it for a while as I need to have a tinker with the TS and there is still the front end to strip. Everything else has come off very easily, the swingarm bolt came out without any fuss. The only things so far that are giving me grief are the 2 rear swingarm top brackets. These are pressed on to the frame and there isn't anything to get any purchase on. I could leave them on when I paint and just clean them. Angle grinder time. Here is one I ground earlier.

Apart from the classified ads on this site, I use fleabay.
  11. The plug and the crank oil are separate. There will be a sump plug under the gearbox. Undo this and the oil will drain. The plug colour should be more to do with the 2 stroke oild which is fed from a different oil tank attached to the frame.

Ok. Lex sent me 2 armature pullers from the States. One 9mm and one 10mm. I was very impressed with the quality. The 10mm was way to big but the 9mm fitted in the thread, albeit a little tight. Threaded it down until I could feel that the probe had touched the bottom of the hole in the crank. A light tap with a hammer did nothing so I decided to tighten it to pop of the armature. Gave it another quarter turn and........... It sheared the puller. the thread has held tight though and I would have expected the thread to have stripped first. I have put this down to the fact that the armature is solid on the crank after sitting there for nearly 50 years. I think that the puller would have worked if the armature had been removed during it's lifetime. Once I get another armature I think I will go for another puller from Lex and have sent him an email with my findings. So now I have an armature with the sheared puller in it. I can't be ar5ed to try and drill it out so I intend to cut the armature off.

    Well done Bippo.
  14. Hi and welcome to the forum.
  15. Nothing wrong with it just being Scottish (I will leave all that cr4p to Salmond and the muppets in London). But it seems to sit on the back of these people LINKY. and the only the lawyers actually get rich. The rest of us pay though premiums and the associated costs to services. Call me cynical (sorry Jason) but if you had a decent claim, any no win no fee vulture would take your case on. If you had brought protection cover then a company would be obliged to take on the work. If it is free then they can only cherry pick the ones they think they can win. If you paid for cover, I don't think you would necessarily get a better service as if they think your claim is a lost cause, I am sure your case notes would be coasters for tea cups until they told you that they were dropping the case.
  16. Not knocking it but I am unsure if Scottish law is different to English law in these matters. A bit like "no win, no fee" to me. There are expert law firms about who specialise in Biking claims.

Depends what you want. I have had a few SV tyres changes there, on the bike, and the cost was reasonable. To supply a new tube and rim tape; remove and check the tyre; fit the rim tape, tube & refit the tyre and balance to the loose back wheel cost £30. He checked the whole of the tyre inside and out for anything that could have punctured the tube.
  18. Hi. How sure are you that it is the carb? Even with a really bad, clean, carb you should be getting something. Take a look at this thread and try the diagnosis. Let us know how you get on.
  19. Great picture. Paul - cheers for the TS pictures via email - I have replied.

Mike- mine is a car tomtom. I don't use earphones, just set volume off and on to 2D mode. I use an couple of optimate kits to power it. TM68 and TM71 I think. This also give the flexibility to charge your phone etc if you take the appliance leads. If you have an optimate you can also easily trickle charge the battery in the bike. Simples.

I think you have blue plastics on your DT 125R but you would like to have black plastics. Rub them down with some 600 wet and dry. Wash and wipe over with a tack cloth. Spray with a plastics primer (Halfrauds do this) and then spray with a plastic paint. Lacquer if required. Can be done in a day and left overnight to dry. Pretty easy really if you use the right stuff. The good thing is, if it goes wrong, let it dry off. Rub down and start again.
