  1. Cheers Preload. Got your PM and I have replied. I did have to laugh at the NOS footrests, only because the bike has rearsets on at the moment and I don't have the original, underslung, footrest bar. I am not dismissing them BTW, I just need to think whether I should keep the rearsets on it. Unfortunately it is the type where the gear lever is put on backwards so the up and down on the gears will be reversed. It should make it interesting if I forget in the rain and change down instead of up.
  2. Hi and welcome to the forum.
  3. I spent this morning listening to presentations on how bad things are. I presented to Directorate Senior Managers, Heads of Service and Clinical Leads on why they shouldn't expect any money just because their equipment is not shiny anymore. The afternoon was making sure that some Managers justified the £10 million they wanted before it goes to the relevant board.
  4. That's my thinking except the value of the RD in a few years time. If I can get on with it It will end up a keeper. I could be interested in some parts Preload. Thanks for the offer, what do you have? PM me if you like. As I posted on the ACRD forum earlier, the dealer technician couldn't get the bike started (no spark) which must have helped with the price. The cylinder bolts were finger tight. I had a look see in the bores and they are great. A little messing earlier and I have a spark. Better than that; the bike starts. I have only poured a little fuel down the bores but it runs until the fuel empties. The carbs need stripping now as one is leaking. I sat on the bike earlier and it took me back 35 years to when I had the GT250 and GT380 Suzi's, oh happy days!!! I am going to move this into the classics section as the thread may run and I don't want to break my own rules
  5. Fizzy at forty - Buxton 16 to 18 August 2013 LINKY
  6. Is this the sequel to "The Piano"? I don't think I want to watch a film where 2 blokes are tickling the ivorys.
  7. Not rich but I am normally quite flush, thank you. I would like to save as many as I can. Unfortunately I don't have the space at the moment to get into double figures but it is only a matter of time. I fully take your point about saving 2 for the price of 1 but someone has to save the bikes that are really beyond saving.

    Statistics

Death, disability or too old to ride only. I have got 37 years of biking in, so far. They haven't got me properly yet and I would have missed all of that if I decided that biking was too dangerous. I smoke too so I am trying to give the Grim Reaper the best possible odds I can.

I had some French fries once, didn't go well either. They went straight to my hips.
  10. I'd like to know how he got a picture of you in your underwear too!
  11. I think this is going to clash with the Fizzie weekend at Squires Tommy.
  12. I would bin them. I wouldn't want to do a track day with flat spotted tyres. They are just duel sport/touring type tyres anyway. If they had been ultra stickies then someone may have been interested.
  13. I think you need to be a paid member for this. Have a look here for more information LINKY
  14. Not much of a "hello". Looks like a question to me.

Leather jacket - with vents, Kevlar jeans for me.
  16. It's tough in the NHS at the moment.
  17. Almost never unless it is a known fault. 17k is nothing for a 4 stroke, even a 125 one. Not sure about the YBR but most cam chained bikes have adjustable tensioners. You could look at this as well as getting the tappets spot on. Make sure you have the correct procedures to do both of these. It is easy to get both wrong.
  18. Which one is he in the picture Drewps?
  19. This must be the most rambling thread ever. Whilst I think it is great to keep a particular bike model info in one thread, can we put any new, workshop related questions in the correct area please.
  20. Hill Street Blues. I liked the tramp cop that kept biting people.
  21. Cheers Merv. I was wondering which way to go so, assuming that the 250 can start, I will get it running as it is. I notice the home made rear mounting bracket when I looked around it. I guess that alarm bells should have rung, I am still pleased with the bike. The seat foam and base are in very good condition and the tank, although it has a few dings, is solid and very clean inside. I'm that man. Dirty's the name, saving old bikes is the game! Do I really want loads of bald fat old blokes as admirers? Oh, sorry, I see what you mean . They are iconic bikes and there are some very nice ones around. I think Cynic got it right. A good usable classic and who cares about the cash. If it is another old stroker saved then I did good.
  22. Hopefully either a bad earth or feed on that circuit. I would check the fuses, not for them being blown but for corrosion and a tight fit first. If you have a wiring diagram I would check if they all share something in common in the wiring.
  23. I still need another main bike. What should I go for?
