  1. Topic closed. This now appears in the workshop area.
  2. Who cleaned the carb and how was it done? Was the float height and jets checked for issues and sizes? Is the air filter correct? Has it fresh fuel in it? Is the fuel tank clean inside? Is the petcock clean? Does it have a clean inline filter? When was it last running fine? That should do for a start.
  3. Hi and welcome to the forum. As Ttaskie say's, this section is for new members to say a hello and, if they want to. tell us a little about them. Please have a look at the following link. We are a friendly bunch but many of us don't bother to respond to first post questions, especially when they are posted in the wrong section. This type of post should be posted in the workshop area or the duel bike/off road section which can be found at the bottom of the first page. Telling us a little about you helps to answer the questions better.
  4. As above. Overcharging. Bulbs - this really only applies to halogen bulbs. Never touch the glass on them. Always use a cloth or tissue to put them in.
  5. Assuming it cranks over. Change the oils, change the plug, change the battery. Clean and reset the carb to standard settings. Run a little 2 stroke onto the plug hole and turn it over slowly a few times. Replace the plug. Check the fuel tank for junk and rust, give it a good clean out. take off the petcock and give this a good clean also. put new fuel in and Start it remembering it will take a little while before the fuel gets through. Issues might be that the seals have dried out and the air filter is knackered. Don't run it for long if you have no air filter or you need to replace it.
  6. Great to hear that John. A lot quicker than the DT's he he. What MJ did you go with? I took mine to the RD rally. I think I am running a too big a MJ but given the weather it ran great. Scary at around 70 though.
  7. Too much information. Lots of non nodding summer day riders out yesterday and today. I could almost smell the polish and leather cleanser in the air.
  8. ....and from me.
  9. Good that you are all starting to log in and a great time was had. Any more pictures??

Check out if your household insurance covers it. This may depend on its value and that it is a vehicle. If it is stripped, technically it is parts.
  11. Moved to the workshop section.
  12. It's been quiet. I would have thought we would have heard something from someone.
  13. Hello and welcome to the forum. This section is for new members to say hello and to tell us a little about you. Workshop questions should be posted in the workshop or road bike sections which can be found towards the bottom of the first oage. Thread locked.
  14. Have you checked fleabay? Sets come with all the parts. Tapered ones are the best, if you can get them. Not a big job but the old ones need to be knocked out and the new ones pulled in. You need more grease than you get in the sets. Often, bearings are 6mm or 1/4 inch. You need to check this is the right size yourself, if you are just going to replace the bearings and not the cups (sold on fleabay). Never heard of a steering stem going. It is a solid rod of metal and very thick. I cant see what can go wrong with it unless it isn't properly pressed into the bottom yolk but then the forks and front wheel will fall off anyway. It doesn't touch anything but the bearings. Sounds rubbish to me.
  15. Had a quick pop to the RD rally this morning. I didn't stay long but the TS got a decent run out.

    No worries Ian.
  17. Sunny Midlands but I am a Londoner and have seen it too many times there. Chav mums, with a couple of kids named after cheap wine, use them instead of putting a shilling in the machines in the malls. Kids tend to fiddle with the controls also. Who wants to call their kids "Blue Nun" or "Lambrusco" anyway?

Doesn't have to be insured if it is SORN. Doesn't have to be SORN if it has been off the road since ???? I can't remember the year but I did post up something about continuous insurance a while back. Edit - Found it here
  19. Getting the bike knocked over by some road cleaner or people letting kids sit on the bike when parked are worse than a ticket. Ride around the area and see what others are doing. Try not to steal "their" place. I wouldn't park mine next to those railings.
  20. Could be fuel evaporation or a problem with the venting for the tank. Try starting it with the fuel cap off or open. Park it in the shade. and if you can, turn the fuel tap off when you park it.
  21. Insurance is all about algorithms. Maturity, burn rate and risk. It doesn't make any real odds what your bike is worth. It is the amount of damage that you can do to other people. Hit a £250 grand car and cause permanent disability to its passengers and it will take a lot of £210 insurance premiums to get the money back. And you might not even re insure with that company ever again. No win no fee personal claims and insurance fraud are costing all of us a fortune, that is on top of genuine risk. That's the way it is.
  22. Hi and welcome to the forum. The bar is the wrong place to post workshop questions. Look down the front page and post in the workshop section or the duel sport/offroad bikes section. Also check that the cables aren't creating the resistance - both electrical or clutch type cables - they would show as being "pulled" when the bars are turned.
  23. Just keep an eye on that temp gauge. Hot day too. Think of that cold pint at the end of the road.
  24. I just tend to see what is on fleabay TBH. I have just brought a kit for the SV - DID extreme 525 X ring kit. I would look at comparing the prices of a decent brand O ring against a different brand's X ring. I like X rings but on a DT I wouldn't mind either. Just keep away from the cheap ones, you will spend half your life adjusting your chain.
  25. I have edited out the full number for security reasons. You don't want anyone stamping the full number to their field bike and claiming theirs is legit. .
