  1. Let's not turn this thread into a workshop one please. This is not the place for it. The same question is in a new thread in the streetbikes section of the forum. Please direct all help to that post. Thanks.
  2. That's what living in Liverpool does to you.
  3. I'd rather they spent their time on an automatic instant 3 month ban for mobile phone use with a 12 month ban after the first offence. A pound or so a week is not going to hurt too much; being hit by a driver on Facebook is! It seems to be getting worse. I don't go a day now without seeing people using a hand held phone, texting or using social media while driving.
  4. +1 for an optimate. Fit the tails which come with the pack (or search fleabay for TM71) and you can plug all sorts in if you get the charger adaptor - satnav, phone etc. The only thing that put me off the FZ6 was the swing arm.
  5. Wasn't a fairer bike tax mentioned in the recent white paper regarding transport strategy? I can't see it happening to be honest. I am looking to change my car at the moment and I could go for a Mitsubishi Outlander electric/petrol 4X4 with no road tax. The car only does 30 miles on electric between charges so it would be guzzling petrol most of the time pulling around the ton and a half weight (the car not big Kev as a passenger).
  6. I wouldn't mess with the tyre sizes but if you want a bigger front I would look at fitting a complete front fork set from a different bike and match the steering bearings to get it to fit. Top tip - don't use WD40 for unseizing things, get some Plusgas.

    I'm an idiot!

Have you had a quick visual and shake test around the battery and fuse area? My FZ wouldn't start the other day and a quick check showed one of the battery terminals was loose.
  8. ? That is plain perverted Andrew. Have you been taking Foamy pills?
  9. The video looks like the bottom of the Farringdon Road junction in London. My biggest issue is when they swing out from riding by the curb to the centre of the road at 15 mph without a care that a bike may be travelling down the outside. Nearly as bad as pedestrians walking out between 2 cars without looking right whilst wearing headphones. I think a few of them are still limping. Ahh, how I miss London!!
  10. The best colour, black. I almost brought the same last year.
  11. Can't see any benefit in keeping this running so topic locked.
  12. Bubble aside, what issues are you having with it? The bubble itself is irrelevant. The bike will only need 5 things to run: A decent spark - are you getting one? Air - Is this clear for air in and air out; filter, exhaust; vacuums? Good Fuel - Is the spark plug wet and does it smell of fuel? Compression - Thumb over the spark plug hole is the crude method of judging this. Timing - has this been checked. With all of the above the bike will start, it may not idle, rev or run right, but it will start.
  13. Blimey OT. I don't really know what to say. I felt at though I had known you for years, even though we had only met a few times. It is always great "chewing the fat" with you and there is a great picture of us chatting at Squires last year on the forum. It's always a pleasure to meet up with you. Said picture
  14. Allens is where I get my carb bits from. Not cheap but genuine and a good service. Not too far from where I work too. Some good points here. The floats need to work and not jam when the carb is reassembled. Earlier you said that the fuel was pumped. Is the return on the fuel pump clear - ie: the pump pressure is too much for the floats. This would only be identified when the pump was on however, you may still get some leaky fuel that is left over in the carbs at stationary.
  15. Got the bike out this morning. Had a cuppa. Got the biker clothes on. Key in the lock, turn and push the starter............................click and nothing. Push again and not even a click, nothing on the LCD display. It's 13 months old for God'd sake!!! Got changed and went off to work in the car. Spent the day thinking about fuses. Got home from work and unbolted the seat to check the fuses, all OK. Did the "fiddle" test and found the Earth lead to the battery was loose. Tightened and it's back to working again. Still peeved as a good biking day missed.
  16. Do the floats, float? Or does one, or more, have a hole in them so not pushing the valve up. The floats have to float, the valve needs to close and close before the overflow fills.............................simples in practice however...................................
  17. I've got a couple of RD400's in the workshop if you want me to keep the Allspeeds warm!
  18. Where's the sun?

  19. Both are great bikes and look the biz too.
  20. Most have a loop to go around the steering head and straps to go under the tank or use to carry on the shoulder. I don't know about these ones but don't strap yourself to it because it could be dangerous in an accident.
  21. Although you might be right, you need to really look at the blue bar in the threads to see other peoples user names. Lots of 2 stroke lovers here as well. I had a GT250 Ram air back in the day. I still have a few strokers in my workshop. Have a look at the Squires thread in the rideout trackday section for a little reminiscing.
  22. Hi and welcome to the forum. I used to live up the road in Harlow and worked in Chelmsford for a while (Vineyards/Great Baddow), Do I see a few 2 strokers in your previous bikes list?
  23. Got to say I enjoyed mine too! A bit bendy at speed and it was heavy but I can't fault the engineering.
