  1. Paul -I have a regulator that is a patten part for a DT. You did suggest connecting it to the red/white wire feeding the rectifier. I connected it to the wiring as shown in the US specs (grey wire) but I am not sure if, due to the different ignition and light switches, that it is doing anything. It will be connected to the feed into the rectifier as of later. It seems that when I switch the lights on, the power to the battery spikes. I don't know if this is a bad switch gear although it was a very expensive NOS part. There are now patten parts available so I will get one of those. Mine has the 2 block connections and previously they only sold patten ones with single blocks. Dt - fitting it to the TS. Drewps - I thought you had similar on the tracker. I may become the first 70mph eunuch if the thing explodes as I am thinking of fitting it under the seat.!!
  2. Thanks for the reply. I am not fussed about any warranty - the battery was cheap - just the risk of it leaking or blowing up and spilling acid.
  3. Phew. I have seen it happen a lot when people aren't used to 2 strokes - even happens when people are 2 stroke experts (but I won't mention Cynics name )
  4. Seat cover off and get a heat wire cutter or an electric carving knife to the foam. You will then need to refit the cover somehow. Alternatively send it off to someone who can do it professionally.
  5. Not sure what you mean by "....fluid is just passing straight through..." are you opening and closing the bleed nipple when applying pressure to the lever? Lots of people swear by reverse bleeding it by pushing fluid up from the nipple to the reservior.
  6. Oily damp, as previously said. 2 stroke oil. What ever you do, don't forget to to up the 2 stroke oil reservoir with some good stuff - not 4 stroke oil though!.
  7. I hope Kev doesn't bring his banjo music again! It would be great to meet up again John. Lets hope we can both get there.
  8. I brought one of these LINKY 6v 2.8ah/20 hours. The bike should be charging at a max of 2.3amps at 8k revs. 8k revs is in the red on the rev counter. Assuming the bike runs mainly (almost always) below this, would it be safe to fit this? The battery says that the initial charge amps should be 0.7amps The bike should be charging at 0.2 a at 2k revs to a max of 2,3a at 8k revs The battery is a VRLA type. Thanks.

    Ice skating!!!

Ya missing one dt? Not really, mine has alloys. Just thought I would ask.
  10. To be honest the Sportage was on my "possible" list when I was looking to change the car but I got a Qashqai +2 instead.
  11. Not sure about "....food web sites....." and it is a shame. Here (paid membership required), Preloved, Gumtree and scummy fleabay are the favorites I would suggest.
  12. With organisational skills like yours Foamy you should be running the Country, not a marathon. Mind you, owning a Kia, I would have thought that you are well versed in running, walking and pushing
  13. They are normally fair with MOT's and happy to talk to you about things. I guess that because that it was a few small things that they decided to put the lot down in the fail. The TS passed last year with the grip the same - although it was a bit annoying when riding. They always comment on the look of the bike (positive in case anyone asks) The guy who skimmed the wheel was recommended at the shop. He works from home and does wheel restores, rebores etc as well. £35 for a skim of 20 thou. Still a lot left in case I need another according to him. Apparently there was a rust pit on it. I am guessing from where the bike had stood before I brought it. Lesson learned though because if it was out of tolerance I would have had a wheel with stainless spokes and rim with a new tyre that I couldn't use without reusing the parts on a different hub!! Assuming that the bits come in time and I can get it re-tested before Squires, and that I am coming as I am still not sure if I can make it, I will prefer the TS to go on. I have a MJ coming too after some communication with John and what he used on his TS. Still a little boggy at the top end and I am going down to a 180 MJ. It hits 70 + without going into the red but it is better suited to sit at about 55 to be honest.
  14. Hairspray works fine but I had some glue hanging about. So as the bike stands now; Bar glued and drying. Rear rim skimmed and refitted. Waiting for the rest of the parts.
  15. Harley for sale. Read the ad!
  16. Well the TS failed it's MOT. I haven't got the list to hand but it went something like this: 1) Handlebar grip loose 2) Right hand front indicator not working 3) Rear brake drum is oval 4) Battery not charged enough to use light effectivly The rear wheel is off and being skimmed. A new new battery, indicator and rectifier have been ordered. I have handlebar glue. Number 4 has always been a pain. It overcharges and eats batteries quicker than I can eat kebabs! I have a plan though...............................
  17. Good luck with it Jason. I hope yours does better than mine!
  18. Hi and welcome to the forum. Just start a new thread in the classics or workshop section when you have some questions. If you are planning on making this a project, then use the project section - these tend to be many pages and it keeps all of the questions and answers in one place. A few of us are off to Squires in a couple of weeks for the 2 stroke weekend and this forums annual camping trip. Seeing you are in Yorkshire, maybe you can make it and say hello in person.
  19. Well I took the TS in for an MOT - it failed. There was a long list of smallish issues and one larger one. I haven't got the list to hand but it went something like this: 1) Handlebar grip loose 2) Right hand front indicator not working 3) Rear brake drum is oval 4) Battery not charged enough to use light effectivly The investigations/solutions 1) I have some bar grip glue. Take it off and glue it properly. 2) I thought it was the bulb but the earth bracket in the light has sheared off. I have ordered another indicator. 3) The wheel is off and with a guy who is going to skim the drum. I hope that it can be skimed as it cost a lot to get the spokes and rim fitted in stainless. I am waiting for some news or a call for me to collect it. 4) I go through batteries really quickly as the bike seems to over charge. Now is not the right time for a 12v conversion so I am going to reroute the regulator I have on it to see if this helps and I have ordered a new battery and rectifier.
