  2. No problems Andrew. I hope the weekend was what you were expecting. A major turnout from the gang. You need to get that full licence now because Doncaster puts about an hour on the journey and get a 2 stroke. I haven't heard any horror stories, yet and I went, and got home, with lights. With some of the bikes pushing 40 years old, that was a major achievement. John - thanks for the 2 stroke oil. Cynic said it stunk but the bike seems to like it. I was thinking of starting to use it but have now decided that I wi stick to castrol 1. There was a great stream of smoke from your TS. Just enough in my opinion.
  3. I am in safe. Left Andrew and Cynic just north of the A46. Showered and changed and getting warm. Bike put away and washing sorted. I have to be honest, it was too cold and damp this year. Great to see you all again and to say hello to new faces. Full respect to Andrew for the miles done on his 125. Really pleased to see FZR Al, We didn't spend that much time gassing but what a great bloke. Great also to see oldtimer. I have decided I need a camper and trailer. Some things haven't changed, the toilets are still rank but it was great to say hello to the sausages no one ate last year. I do have to tell you that Kev ate them this morning so there may be some fresh ones for next year. The grease in the food is still being maintained to its normal high standard and god help anyone who had a breakfast this morning, put on their waterproofs and had a reasonable ride home. Sorry I missed you this morning John. Got your text, cheers. I need another brew now as I am thawing out and my hearing is returning from the cross winds. I hope all outstanding people get home safe.
  4. Only seen cynic surface so far. Cold and damp and I am on my second cuppa.
  5. Airhead, Cynic, Foamy, Andrew and I are here. It is raining hard and has been for several hours. Foamy has only been here an hour and is soaked.
  6. Sorry if you can't make it Tommy - I was looking forward to meeting you. Paul - It will be OK on the night, I am happy to start the Saturday run early if you want the company. If I don't do the run on Saturday I will need to hide from FZR Al as I can't afford the cups of tea!! Drewps - No rain until Sunday late evening. Andrew - "Chain oil"? which route are you taking, it is just like a trip to the shops, not around the world. I think I still have some oil on the chain from last year. That will do for me. Did you get my PM with my mobile number? Foamy - I can see you coming in a car. Jason - Got your PM. Cheers. Me? I am going to ride until it breaks. 3pm at Grantham.
  7. And MPG will be different.
  8. Tis a twin. And the tank sizes may be different. There are about 4.6ltrs to a gallon so about right.
  9. I guess it depends on how much fuel you are using. At 33:1 ratio you should need about 138ml to a gallon so 345ml equates to about two and a half gallons of fuel.
  10. How many miles do you get from one litre of 2 stroke oil Kev?
  11. I'd rather pay a fiver. I still have the scars on my fingers from when I last attempted it about 20 years ago.
  12. Hi and welcome to the forum.
  13. Hi and welcome to the forum. I think you have mentioned just about all you could do except mess with the sprockets and possibly re-map it. As your first post is a collection of questions, and not related to your questions, you may benefit for reading the following
  14. I'd second that. Happy Birthday.
  15. It's not Yamaha carbs, It is the junk they put in fuel. A carb clean and tank wash out should help.
  16. So is that 3pm on Friday at the Grantham services gents?
  17. I can go via Melton but if we are going to meet at Grantham I will head north and use the A52. I live in Loughborough so so sweat for me.
  18. I am fine with meeting at Grantham Andrew. I guess there will not be a lot of difference in our speeds.
  19. Sounds like you have been busy. A bit of a pain you can't use motorways to get to Grantham. Although boring, it is a straight run on the M11. I used to live in Harlow and have run up and down the M11 to the Midlands more times than I can remember. Which way are you coming up? Via Melton Mowbray? The weather will be dry and warm'ish from Friday to Sunday with some rain on Sunday late evening.
  20. Depends. On the side stand you can use a crushed can or find something there. My tent, sleeping bag and stuff are down from the loft. Planning to get to Grantham at 3pm on Friday - assuming you are still up for it Andrew? Also need to see if Cynic is joining us.
  21. Personally I wouldn't worry about it. Proportion and perspective count and on a smallish vehicle it shouldn't look out of place. It's not like the characters are tiny! I rode to Squires last year without any brake light, indicators, horn etc. I got on the bike to start the journey and found that they weren't working. The bike was loaded so I decided to just go for it.
  22. Not sure where the 22 miles comes from. It is about 22 miles each way for my daily commute, if I go to the furthest campus. The satnav bag is for squires. If the plan holds and I swing by Grantham then on to Squires then it will be handy. Especially as we will have to stay off any motorways. I used to use maps, and never had any major issues. Thousands of European miles done like that. Last year I had the satnav in the map pocket of the tank bag but it wasn't ideal due to the sun reflections on it. That said I have been tinkering today and the satnav bag is really bugging me. I think I am going back to taking it off and using the satnav in the map pocket.
