That is interesting John. To be honest it is not what I am looking for but I will keep an eye out to see what it goes for. I can't make my mind up about mine - what to do with it. I did consider putting it up on fleabay. At the moment those parts are at £385 which is only £15 less than I paid for mine. Mine has to be worth a grand as it is, doesn't it?

I did a post a while ago regarding the NOVA stuff. You should be able to find it using the search facility. I am at work so can't get the link at the moment. You can also get the age certificate from this site, for a fee. There is a stickie somewhere written by Mervin, I think, which explains all you need to do. No going back to the FJ now Ttaskie. After a few days you will want a Bandit - no pun intended.

Best bet is a DT175. Great mix of parts availability and keeping up with traffic. The 250 and 400 are harder to find parts for and the 250 is no faster. Look for one that has not been messed with or customised parts fitted.

Sorry Grouchie. Use a zipped bag. Put some smart water or fingerprint ink (LINKY) on the zip etc and when you see it has been tampered with, bypass the manager call in the police.

Always carry a bible and a pork chop in your bag. Job done.

The one big change would be to put fatter road tyres on it. Getting wider rims and new spokes are about £200 to £250 per wheel if you go the stainless route. A cheaper way would be to find out what alternative wheels will fit on with minor changes like different bearings. There ain't no such thing as a cheap project. Just don't keep a tally of what you spend and convince yourself that you haven't spent nearly as much as you actually have. I tend to run projects with a spreadsheet. It helps me know what parts, part numbers and costs I am dealing with. I also throw into it any alternative bike information that use the same parts which helps in my fleabay quests when searching. The money column gets scary but that's how I like to work. Good luck.

Glad that you got to walk away from it ttaskie. Bike repairs, a bit of injury claim and new lid and clothes; looks like a decent claim and enough in the pot to get another FJ.

I wouldn't want to be in one if the tank split in an accident. It is going to be painful when petrol finally runs out, hopefully not in my lifetime though, but I am trying to get through as much of the stuff I can so there is none left for the younger generation. Mwahhahah

Oh, trust me, pictures of the bike only will do me. That said, I can't vouch for some of the others here.

I wouldn't buy a cheap kit. Oxford ones are OK. A decent set work quite well and the difference is noticeable. Another (and better if you can handle the ribbing) way of keeping your hands warmer are handlebar muffs.

I would have thought that history would have taught them that hydrogen doesn't mix well with transportation.

We like videos. The one I have for my TS250 is about 4 inches longer than the standard one but is quieter. Nothing wrong with a loud 2 stroke though.

Just the head bolts you can see around the plug to remove the head. It will give you sight of the piston and bore to check for any slap or scoring to the bore. If you have a silencer in the exhaust, repacking is an easy thing to do. Just get some stuff off eBay and remember to hold it in place with some wire. Some of the us 2 stroke models had a forestry approved baffle but I am not sure if any were for the IT. Getting the baffle out can be a pain in the rear. Years of carbon build up stick them in making it tough sometimes to slide the baffle out.

I have been toying with learning for about 40 years. I can throw a few chords together albeit very slowly. I have been hankering after an Epiphone Les Paul Plustop Pro for a while and I can't justify it if I can't play so my current Les Paul clone came out early last night for an hour of getting used to it again. 2014 is the year that I will be able to play. Maybe not to the standard of Clapton, but a lot better than some of the noises that I can make now. Sore finger tips this morning!

Someone has messed the wiring up. Maybe in converting the headlight. The flashers could be fed from the wrong coil and taking too many volts

Not sure about you bike but the clutch plates normally have to go in the basket a certain way. 120 degrees rotation with the dimple. So 12 oclock, 4 o'clock and 8 o'clock. There may be a special circular plate that has to be fitted also. As I say, it may not apply to your model but I know it does to many old yami's (including my YA). The plates may be contaminated if the wrong oil has been used or it could just be an adjustment issue.
