X-Factor
I thought Rylan was great. Maybe not the best singer but he handled himself with dignity when people had a dig at him. He was a successful male model before he entered the show. Better than someone who can sing a bit but has an attitude that stinks and thinks that we should be in awe at them. The show gets boring towards the end and the best part is the auditions. The boy who came second is already moaning that he didn't get any support but would you actually pay money to go and see him? I wouldn't but I would go and see Rylan as it would be entertaining. What really surprises me is all these un-talented people who crave being "famous" and have some dodgy history. If they had any sense they would just keep their heads down and find proper jobs.

Stripping paint from cast wheels
I would take them to a specialist painter and get them painted black rims and satin silver spokes. You could try this yourself with some decent masking skills.

shopping for mid-1970's Yamaha Enduro, what to watch out for?
Half a sock! This would make jetting a nightmare. With a huge main jet it would probably be really rapid until it blew the piston.

Aftermarket Piston Rings
I have ordered loads from Partzilla, all good. You should be OK with a value of £18 for customs charges.

Who needs brakes?
I have never had any problem buy from the states. Just calculate the costs in case you need to pay customs etc. Best to look at German and French fleabay forst. Use google translator if you need to. These any good? http://www.ebay.de/itm/XJ-600-51J-Bremssattel-Bremszange-Hauptbremszylinder-Bremsanlage-HINTEN-brake-/221299438934?pt=DE_Motorradteile&hash=item3386797556 http://www.ebay.de/itm/Yamaha-XJ-600-Diversion-Bremzange-hinten-rear-brake-caliper-/370943992922?pt=DE_Motorradteile&hash=item565dfc245a

Who needs brakes?
Moved to the correct section. There should be quite a few around in the UK as this was/is a popular bike. There are some good bargains to be had in buying from the states.

steering
Safety first but if you are going to see if you can do it yourself you can slacken off the front axle bolt (the one that goes through the wheel ) and the bolts holding the yolk to the forks (often 2 bolts per side - upper and lower). Then just tighten them up again to the correct torque. When you slacken them you need to be careful as if the weight is on the forks then there is a chance of the forks sliding up the yolks and causing damage. Best done if the bike is being supported by a jack with the front wheel just on the ground. You could also have knocked the front wheel out of shape. Jack the front of the bike up and, looking from the front, spin the front wheel to see if it is wonky.

True but when the 400 is slowly pulling away you wish you had the extra cubes. The twin shock models are so much prettier in the 250 and 400 range. There is a white 400 on uk fleabay at the moment I keep looking at but it is the monoshock. I am very tempted though!

Karcher Pressure Washers
I got mine from screwfix at a third off. I don't wash bikes more than twice (after buying and before selling). With the nozzle it would push all the grease out of anything and break wires. With the soft brush and soap thing on it will clean a car or bike ok. Great for patios though!

You can't ride an unregistered bike. Likely to get the bike seized. Phone your house insurer and see if it covered under you house insurance.

SORN From 16-12-2013
I think from late 2014 there will be no tax discs. You will still have to pay road tax but you wont get a physical disc.
