  1. I would be very careful with any brake mod. I was talking to a friend at work yesterday. She had 2 police knock on her door a couple of days ago asking about a bike her husband owned last year and part exchanged for their current bike. Although the police woudn't go into details, it appears that the bike was involved in a fatal accident with no other vehicles involved. From what she could gather, and this is speculation, the braided hoses fitted to the bike may have been a factor in killing the rider. As I said, the police did not give out any information but did focus on the braided hoses. Just food for thought.
  2. I cant wait to see it. And hear it. And smell it.
  3. I will leave the opportunity to request a T shirt open until 28 feb. If you want a T shirt please PM me with your size and delivery details. Once I have all the details, and I know how many we have, I will send you a price and a paypal address to send the money to and order the shirts.
  4. That looks great John. Didn't you talk me out of buying one a few weeks ago?
  5. Hi and welcome to the forum.
  6. Keep them coming. Maybe your mate in full riding gear had experienced the mistrales. The wind on a bad day would sandblast a frame.
  7. Just thought. Its wasnt Menton where we stayed near Paris. Menton is where we stayed at the French/Italian border - near where they filmed the minis crossing the weir in the Italian job. We went from there along the coast stopping in Monaco for a baguette. Glorious sunshine but we had just come from Geneva were we went to the lake to see the water shooting up at the fountain thingie got caught in a thunderstorm and ended up in a place called St Die. Its amazing how some photos can bring back (almost) clear recollections.
  8. Fabulous photos. I have been around the arc, just look for a space between 2 cars and go. Dont look sideways. Been to Versailles, we used to stop on the way back from Le Mans at a youth hostel at Menton I think? Near Monet's museum but on the other bank of the Seine. Popped into the museum as he is one of my favorite artists. Great stuff and brought back loads of memories for me. Cheers.
  9. Sounding great Foamy.
  10. Never buy or use a second hand helmet. Never paint a helmet (although some can be painted). Change your helmet every few years.
  11. Yes, I know you have a nice TDR Jason. Wait until you see mine I haven't found it yet.............................................but there is no harm in looking. I have just had the builder around to quote for a large slab of concrete for a shed base so I am sure I can squeeze another bike in the eventual workshop. I can't remember which way 'round it goes. Do you build a workshop and fill it with bikes or do you fill the garden with bikes and see what size workshop you need?

A good set of leathers will offer a very good level of protection but they need to be good so 3/4mm triple stitched in the right places with body armour. There is a lot of rubbish out there and price is no real indicator. For me, leather is for shoes, boots, gloves, belts, car seats, sofas and holding my tea together until I am ready for it. It's great that we now have an expanded choice of materials. You pay's your money.............
  13. I like Triumphs too. A TR4a, TR6 or a Stag would be very nice.
  14. Moved to workshop.
  15. I think they will hold a premium price so will be a good bet in minimilising depreciation once costs come down a little.
  16. The CS5 looks great. There are a lot of 2 stroke classic lovers on this forum. No politics but lots of banter (some of it friendly).
  17. In short, No. Escorts Mk1's, I had a couple but always wanted a Mexico in poo brown. RD's - here are the 2 400's I own at the moment. I also have a Suzi TS250C (1978), a 1965 YA-6 125cc project and a FZ8. A good TDR250 is a very good buy, It's just finding a good one.
  18. Very, very nice.
  19. Good that it is solved. Will you miss singing along to the beat now?

I don't mind wet on the way home and cold providing it is a dry cold. Hate wet on the way there. I do have 2 leather jackets, one a classic Lewis for the old bikes and a RST racing one that is airaited so gets a good flow of air in the summer with a mesh liner, no zip out liner. I prefer goretex for practicality.
  21. Kev, will you ask him if he will do a service on my FZ?
  22. Good on you for your doggedness. Are you getting it ready for Squires because you must be a 2 stroke lover by now and the sight and smell of 100 2 strokes pulling away for a ride out will get your nerve ends tingling.
  23. Blimey Kev, you know how it was reassembled......It is a large single 2 stroke so it is never going to run like a 4 potter. Try the WD40 trick around everywhere when the bike is running. The engine speed will change where the leak is. Has it been torqued down correctly? Is the head warped? Did they use new gaskets? then the usual rubber to the carb.

They used to have a good reputation, not sure now but I haven't heard anything bad. Rather than leather, have you considered gortex textile? More flexibility in warmth, waterproof, wind proof, tough and breathable. I just got some Alpine stars and Dainese gortex and they are great. They are much better than standard textiles. With leather you will be sweating in the summer (every tried to pull a pair of leathers on, on on a hot day?) and wet in the winter.
