  4. Nice to see some dry roads this morning. A few bikers out to play on my ride to work so I could give the FZ a bit of a work out.
  5. Not sure if it helps but many of the older bikes need strong batteries to start them. My YA has a armature starter generator and the battery needs to be very good to start it.

I had a GT250 ramair (gold one) back in the '70's. My second bike on L plates.
  7. What charger were you using? You can kill gel batteries if you don't use a correct one? I would also look for anything earthing out and draining the battery; a faulty switch or a wire touching earth.

Don't blame me Nev. My first 2 bikes were suzis and I quite like them. Only 1 Suzi At the moment in my stable of 5 bikes. A fab bike though........ How is warp factor 4?
  9. Also check the the overflow isn't blocked and is causing an air block.
  10. No worries. Check out the annual meet up which is pinned at the top of the events ride out section. A 2 strokers dream.
  11. A warm welcome to the forum. What a great intro. There are lots of lovers of the more "mature" first loves I the forum.
  12. I don't think so. The bike is clean at the moment though!
  13. I took the thermals out in February and had jeans on this morning but still cold. Brrrrrrr.
  14. It was like an October ride to work this morning. Where's the sun?
  15. IKEA do a washing up brush with a suction cup on one end. The bristles are just the right shape and hardness. If you can't get to ikea, people sell them on fleabay. They are 99p from ikea and a couple of quid from fleabay. One of those and some gunk should do it. Cleaning tips from me! Now that is scary.
  16. It's his birthday soon, he is about 2 weeks older than me. I just rode around the block and there was a skip lorry dropping off a skip en route so I got about 2 laps in and and emergency stop.
  17. Part failure is natures way of telling you a part needs replacing. The same as rain is natures way of washing bikes and stupidity is natures way to improve mankind.
  18. I have all the money, the sizes and the addressees.
  19. Get a recovery package. Always an asset even if it is only a puncture that holds you up. Last year a few of us met in Nottingham - along the A1. Andrew on his SR (Cambridgeshire/Beds??), Cynic on his TDR250 (Northhants) and me on my Suzi TS250 (Leicestershire). I guess that it will be much the same this year except I will probably be on one of my RD400's and there was talk of possibly other members meeting up with us too. It is well worth the trip, even if you ride half way the night before and book into a hotel. 2wheels comes over from Ireland - at least once on his DT125 and Blackhat rides down from Scotland. I don't know any Southern based members who could ride up with you. There are a couple of videos of the Saturday rideout from Squires - on the Saturday - on my video wall. LINKY
  20. A bit like that Mike . As for why; I havent seen one in the flesh since the end of the AM era but I have been looking at classic cars for a while and keep getting drawn to Land Rover "series" era ones with bad everything, apart from looks. A radio would be useless as I wouldn't be able to hear it over the whine of the gearbox, axles and bits rattling around so I wondered if a CB would keep me interested. I know the Defender/90 was a leap forward in useability but if I was going to get one of those I would probably buy a new one as my "proper" car next year when my current car is 3 years old and due for a change.
  21. Is anyone in the UK using a legal CB radio?
  22. I don't have the "behind bars" original artwork, as per Tommys post.
  23. LINKY I have a blind puller if you are struggling to get the bearings out Andrew.
