  1. Obviously on medication, or needs to be. But before they go; Ask yourself why you think people would want to help you when you can't even be civil. Me? I don't really give a sh1t. Topic locked.
  2. You need to say hello in the new members section as a first post to get the best out of most forum members. They can't be tightened. Check the the pads for contamination or wear. Check the brake fluid to make sure it is not too low. Make sure the brake pistons are working correctly. Braided brake hoses make them less "spongy". Sintered pads normally have more grip - but wear the pads out quicker. Brake fluid needs to be changed every 2 years ish.
  3. The barrels and heads are still away being referbed - they should have been ready yesterday but I coudn't get hold of the bloke today. The calipers are back. The guy called me yesterday and went through what he had done. No new pistons needed but they are nice and clean. Very pleased. I have rebuilt the rear brake cylinder. Sorry, no picture. Brought some: Fork oil Brake fluid Brake cleaner More Autosol.
  4. How did you clean the carb? Did you check the size of the main jet? - possibly go up one size. Did you reset the float height? Did you check and clean the fuel tap and check the tank vent for a blockage? What size is the tank to carb fuel line -sometimes they restrict when you need the most fuel -is there an in-line fuel filter? Normally the crank seal would mean that the bike would not idle, especially when hot.

    bad vibes

Oooop's. Obviously I can't count at the minute. Tough couple of weeks hence not much progress in my projects.

    bad vibes

14 years between posts in a thread, that has got to be a record..............................hasn't it?
  7. Locked thread - WORKSHOP question in the NEW MEMBERS SECTION
  8. But look at the price and stainless too!
  9. It is a common fault on them and I think that there is a cheap mod but the Power Commander seems to be popular albeit expensive. I used to see one around where I work with very noisy pipes. The guy used to just wheelie it everywhere.
  10. Isn't there an airbox mod to stop the surge? I have always loved the look at these bikes but this issue and the lack of top end power has put me off buying one - so far.
  11. Hi and welcome to the forum. It may be of interest if you had a look through Noise's project
  12. Use a length of 16mm rod with an eye on each end. Spring the seat. It will look like the rear is floating. Single seat of course.
  13. That is quite a lot of work and very blingy. Did you get an answer about the MOT? You need to have a number and, to be honest, I would make sure you can get the bike on the road before anything else. Is the bike road registered?

    New toy!

An interesting observation Bippo. Personally I like the lights. The way the bike manufacturers have pushed the middleweight cc up from 400 to 500 to 600 and now to 700/800 it would be interesting to know how defunked the larger cc bikes are? My FZ does everything well so how much use would an extra couple of hundred cc be? The street is an amazing bike so, on the road, is there much point in going for a speed?
  15. What year is the bike (one of the benefits of adding a little detail to your profile)? Have a look here and see if you can see the part - you may need to change the year etc. LINKY
  16. Is that stuff any good Paul?
  17. It could be loads of things but I would suggest you check the most common faults and cheapest to fix first. If you haven't messed with the stator then they rarely move. Coils breakdown and bad earths appear but a big percentage of issues like this on a 2 stroke are air and/or fuel related. You need to check through in a systematic way so you can eliminate things.

    Summer is here

Yep Tommy. Last week was bad for me and especially not nice as I have a big hooter. Not sure if it compounded the issue but I am 52 days into stopping smoking so everything is still clearing out. I have been using one of those vapour thingiees and haven't smoked since the last day in April. My nose has been streaming, and if it stays that way, at least we wont get a drought this year
  19. A very slight upgrade. It looks very nice.
  20. I'd agree with that. Most DT175 parts are readily available. Have a read through my Suzi TS250 project on here - it's a bit random but shows the before, and eventually, the after.
