  1. First post want. Topic locked.
  2. Looks like a great day out. Fizzie and/or RD next I think Kev. I should be at the RD one - Saturday I think. That is if I can get the bike back together.
  3. Just buy a new one. You could mess about by dropping some solder onto the terminals to build them up but I wouldn't bother. If you try some tin foil or the like, you may short something out.
  4. Wild Foamy seems to have some parts for sale in the For Sale section. This can only be viewed by paid members. He may be along later to help.
  5. If the bulb holder is getting power then I would suggest the bulb is no good (even if new) or the terminals at the back of the bulb aren't touching the connectors in the holder. They can wear. Can you push the bulb or wiggle it and get any joy?
  6. Let me know if he doesn't come back to you in a couple of days and I will get hold of him on the Aircooled RD forum. The ACRD weekend is in Derby in a couple of weeks. Free to enter for day visitors. Details in a separate thread in the rally and ride out section. I might be popping over on Friday to pick some bits up in the car and on Saturday to say hello on one of my RD's (hopefully).
  7. Should look something like these (when put together) LINKY
  8. DT50M produced in 1979 but may be registered later.
  9. Hi and welcome to the forum. There are quite a few regulars here from your neck of the woods. Here is the link to the clubs annual meet - which coincides with a 2 stroke weekend in Yorkshire There are rumours that fellow member Wild Foamy may be bringing his DT50 this year.
  10. Is the bulb blown? If you take the bulb out, using a multimeter, do you get a reading? Mostly in the old holders there are 2 point of contact at the base and these are both live. A reading should be taken from ONE of these and either the side of the holder or a good earth. Don't put anything across these as you will blow something. You can also test with an old, working indicator. One wire end on one base and one on the holder side. Before you test this, is the battery OK? Do the indicators work without the engine running is a good test of this.
  11. Hi and welcome to the forum. Anyone who owns a TS is OK in my book.
  12. Post up the first part of the frame number. Leave the last 4 digits off and replace these with ****
  13. Best to make contact with Paul to see what he needs. If you have an old tax disc or reg plate you may not need a dating certificate. He would also be able to check the VIN against the DVLA database to see if it is registered for a small fee. It might help if you say hello in the New Members Section. Often people who post questions without saying hello don't get much of a reply - especially from me. We have a resident DT50 lover (and Mod) who may have some parts or advice. We are a, mainly, friendly online club, not an on demand answer to people issues and a little nettiquete goes a long way here. Plenty of 2 stroke lovers on the site and we meet up for the 2 stroke rally in September - more details in the rally and ride our section or search the word Squires.
  14. Ha ha Drewps. It might have a UK model number (VIN number). NOVA is just for imports, not UK bikes that the DVLA couldn't be ar5ed to register when they went computerised a couple of decades ago. Still lots of these about. If it needs a NOVA by thread with all the details - including the phone numbers is around here somewhere.
  15. You don't need a NOVA if the bike has been here a while and you have the original paperwork dealing with the customs charges or is not imported.
  16. You can do it at this site for a fee. You need a few photos of the bike, the numbers and the payment. PM Paul Dawkins. Don't post the numbers on the site.
  17. You are comparing bikes miles per litre of 2 stroke. Are these the same bikes, ridden the same way on the same roads. I don't think 400 miles a litre is bad. Before you do anything, do the maths. a common ratio of 2 stroke to petrol is 1:33 so for each litre of 2 stroke, the bike should be using around 33 litres of fuel. If the bike is doing 60MPG, this is around 13 miles per litre (60/4.6). so extrapolating this; 13 (miles per litre) X 33 (33 litres of fuel @ a ratio of 1:33) gives you 429 miles per litre of 2 stroke. Looks about right to me. Black smoke sounds like gearbox oil is getting into the mix somehow. The smoke should be white.
  18. There is no cheap substitute for extra cc's. As above, keeping the bike in good condition and ignore all of those people who claim their bike can reach 300 MPH and they undertook Michael or Joey Dunlop on a bend around the IOM TT circuit. My 250 trials tops out at about 75/80 but it doesn't feel enjoyable over about 60/65. 2 strokes are fantastic machines but they don't like having the throttle nailed open for long periods of time. Just enjoy the bike for what it is. Fun! I would rather pop around at 50 for a lot of the time than do 80, blow the engine and spend the next couple of months picking chunks of piston out of the crankcases.
  19. Did you get the wheel spindle back from Bob? I am still waiting for my barrels and heads. If you get Halfords tools, only get the professional range. Very good for the money and look around Christmas time (just before and after) as they do a lot of half price stuff then.
