Rd r r - the tale of 3 RD400's - More of a saga than a project.
I am pleased but It still cost a few quid. I think it is a good basis for a C restore but I am not fussed about being purest. The frame and swingarm (I have had the swingarm a while and only opened the delivery box this afternoon) don't really need painting but I might just clean and give them a few coats. I really need to get RD1 up and running again as first priority.

Rd r r - the tale of 3 RD400's - More of a saga than a project.
Popped over to the RD rally to say hi and pick up some bits to get RD2 up and running. Chatted to Airhead for a little while. Here are some of the bits (with some I had): UK frame, road registered (R reg) still MOT'ed and Taxed to 2015 Front end Wheels Proper "C" clocks - I have the seat lock and petrol cap too - all use the same key

Aircooled RD Club rally - Derby; July 2014
I met Paul there earlier. He is camping so if anyone is thinking of going -he has his TTR. Site filling up at the moment. Possibly more than 100 people camping over the weekend. Remember it is free for day visitors. I left with a boot full of stuff I had arranged to pick up .........................Including a R reg 400 frame that is MOT'ed and Tax'ed until 2015 and is the basis for my third RD400 project. It's going to look like picture 3 but I haven't decided on the colour. I have 2 yellow "D" ones already and fancy a change now!

WR400 - Supermoto Conversion + Engine rebuild
Just an idea. Some kind of brace clamped to the forks and used as a fitting for the guard. Shorter and chunkier so match the supermoto wheels. Not sure but what you have at the moment doesn't work for me.

WR400 - Supermoto Conversion + Engine rebuild
Would it look better with a lower, stubby, guard? Not right over the wheel but lower than bolted to the bottom of the yolk.

1996 yamaha ttr 250
Got to agree with Paul. There are many bikes out there that just do everything OK. They tend to get forgotten. I had a SLR650, great bike and would chug happily around at virtually no cost. A bit gutless above 70 but as a run around. And assuming you didn't ride many motorway or fast country roads it was great. I also had a XT350. It was pants and after 2 weeks I sold it because I could walk faster and I kept getting undertaken by busses. If you are looking for a 4 stroke trailie you need cc's.

I am popping in tomorrow John but in the car. I have arranged to pick up a few bits. There are a large contingent of Germans coming over. Expect some pictures over the weekend of the bits I picked up.

What bikes have we owned
All the "dreams" were horrible. How Honda could go from the 400/4 to the superdream is beyond me. I think they even tried a 400 automatic at some point. That may just be a nightmare I had many years ago though.

Cannot post pics
Sometimes, and I don't know why, the post input box turns to code only mode. This is fixed by a single click on the very top left icon. I recall it happened to up.yours a while ago.

Cannot post pics
So the code is: http://i1361.photobucket.com/albums/r680/mcferreira100/2014-07-08122942_zpsd2d45e11.jpg Are you clicking the arrowed icon in the picture below Then pasting just the code above into the box Then pressing OK? If the icons are greyed out click the switch to the very top left of the icon box by your picture. Otherwise use the following image tags [img]http://i1361.photobucket.com/albums/r680/mcferreira100/2014-07-08122942_zpsd2d45e11.jpg[/img] The cut and paste works for me.

Rd r r - the tale of 3 RD400's - More of a saga than a project.
Put fluid into the forks and the front end is back on. New head bearings, new fork seals and dust seals, wheel swapped with new bearings and seals. Brake caliper refurbished and front master cylinder painted and rebuilt. New braided hose, brake pads and caliper bolts. Picked up the set of barrels and heads I had blasted and painted Brought another set of barrels and pistons. On .50 so lots of life left in them

Finding previously owned bikes
You can find the current owner if you have a legitimate reason. For example a bailiff wanting to see who owns a vehicle that they could seize. I wouldn't think that you once owned the vehicle is grounds enough to out trump data protection. I wouldn't want anyone calling, writing or turning up at my door because in 1978 they owned a vehicle that I now have. They shouldn't have sold it.
