Hi Chris, Welcome. I own a Dt175 '81 also but not quite sweet - Yet!! Here it is right now!
  5. I would also put the old tank back on and see if it stops the problem. The gravity pressure of an additional 5 lts may be pushing too much fuel through the carb, as you said. If you cant change the tank try restricting the fuel flow by clamping the fuel hose. If it is too much fuel and the plugs get fouled then it will be a pig to start so clean the plug or get several to swap them around whilst testing. Oh yes and make sure that there is a breather hole in the cap and it is clear.

I normally use my testies to dent the tank
  7. After great advice from the forum, copious amounts of WD and my very largest hammer the swingarm is now off the bike. It is amazing what a junior hacksaw can do The frame and swingarm are both saved and I am a happy bunny. I did have to strip the bike though!! In case it is any use to anyone, I carefully cut through the thrust covers in several places and spayed them flat (in one picture they are like ragged stars) and carefully cut through between the frame and the bearing with the junior hacksaw. The offside one has to be sawn from the bottom up so it is an engine out job. Swingarm with the remnants of the outer bearings still in in The sawn bolt and the 2 thrust covers, spayed The frame An end shot of the bolt in the inner bearing. Looking at it I would have had to bathe it in WD for a year. It is solid in there I am now off to the pub for a well deserved beer. Anyone want to join me?

No problems JimR I was frustrated with something else at the time as my largest hammer did not work. I have reset the link for the electrics so anyone, now or in the future, can find it.

  17. Some carb info Here Whatever you do, do not but a repair kit unless you check its contents for sizes (jets etc). I nearly fell into this trap but was put right by the experts on the forum.

I had a look at the compressor. It is duel voltage at either 110 or 220. There is no start button but a large electrical box which may contain a capacitor. I wired up a 15 amp lead and plugged it in. It fired up and ran. No fuse blowing which is what I was getting last night so I guess It would run from a 15amp caravan type lead. set the built in pressure gauge and it maintained pressure with the pump cutting in and out. I have Wd'ed anything that needs it including the safety valve. The pressure gauge goes to 140PSI before it hits the red. The hose connector is arrowed it the picture below. It was running when I took the picture and not too noisy so that is a bonus.

It is single phase 240v. Just plug it in. It must draw a lot of power on start up as it blows 13amp fuses. I am not sure if there is some kink of converter in there I have only just got it but will look tomorrow.

It weighs the same as a tank. The tank is the frame. all sealed and with the valve tapped into it.

Hi, I always use the biggest one! Later I pop into next doors garden at midnight to retrieve the bolt. I also deny that I am a voyeur.
