  1. Like an AA car check. They use company's like Carfax but because they have a different way of registration (all on the VIN not the reg) they have the opposite problem to us in that our DVLC search everything from the reg number they do everything from the VIN. shntat Just for the record, the Highway Patrol didn't introduce Standardisation of 17 digit VIN numbers. There is certain information that can be obtained from the shorter VIN but this may not tell you the bike history as I do not know how the USA registration works. Or if people like Carfax accept short versions of VIN numbers for checking. I would guess someone must do as there are a lot of USA members there who have older bikes and these have papers (Green slips???) and are registered in the States.
  2. That stutter is getting worse Drewps.
  3. How did that happen? Thanks, I have changed it.
  4. Great pics. Looks like a good do. Seaside, cafe and the smell of two stroke and candy floss............... Hmmmmmmmmmmm
  5. No help but just for info CLICK LINKY
  6. Unfortunately this is common. They get all the crap from other vehicles thrown at them and come with a chrome finish . In reality I don't understand why they don't use stainless or come with some kind of teflon finish. They are the kind of thing that you have to see before you buy and unless you can travel all over the country to get a "bargain" then rechroming or being mighty lucky are the only two options. If you are mighty lucky, do the lottery.
  7. I think you need to diversify from sarnies to ready frozen meals. A much better shelf life Just don't scrimp on the salt please.
  8. No they dont. Some may be interchangeable but that would be down to research. You can get forks rechromed but it is not cheap. Have a look HERE
  9. I would stick to the 650. Extra power is very nice but you can scare yourself easily on a 650 and the extra weight well be an issue. The low center of gravity will help but I would pick the 650.
  10. Welcome Danny. Audi Quatro, nice. Good luck on the DAS. As for keeping the 125, only if you can afford a bigger bike as well because as son as you get through the DAS you will be straight on evilbay to get something BIGGER.

    FZR 600 Help!

Is the noise coming from the engine? It could be something as simple as a key fob vibrating or something else non engine related that goes when the revs are higher. I would have a walk around the bike and press or push everything I could. Seat, fairing (this is a common one for giving vibration noises), clocks, linkages etc. to see if the noise goes or changes. I would do this before I looked at the engine. Something as simple a a loose locking nut on the carb side of the throttle cable can cause this type of noise.
  12. I concur BWJ. 3 posts asking for the same information but can't be arsed to do an intro However we are mainly nice guys and gals here providing we have had enough raw meat so there are some manuals CLICK HERE which may help but be aware that you can screw the engine if you do not know what you are doing. Sounds like you need to bleed the water system but if water is leaking the torque settings are wrong and/or a part of the engine may be warped.
  13. A big list here including the one you need and from your side of the pond. LINKY
  14. Not far from the truth OG. Very, very good all rounder. The later ones got too lardy. Not a lot of cred as the CBR was the bike to have but I preferred the GSX. Even brought a new one in '94. Wrote it off after a few months and brought a new FZR 600 Foxeye. An expensive year

    HELP THE AGED

As OG says. There are a few options; For sound get one with a jack plug and get some helmet ear pads which are speakers in a pad shape that fit in your helmet or, get a bluetooth one and a bluetooth helmet speaker system. For power either use the satnav internal battery or, use a direct power feed into the battery or, look at a company called "so easy". They produce a battery pack (and bag) that is recharged from a USB socket abd can boost the time you can use a satnav. For holders look at things like the "held tiny bumbag" which is a satnav sized magnetic tank bag or, just the map pocket of your current tankbag or, something like the "ram mount" sysyem or, the "so easy" bag option. OG has the enclosed case option. At the moment I have this type of setup HERE Tucked under the fairing.

    HELP THE AGED

I don't. I set mine to silent and to 2D (3d in the car) and then look at the big red arrow. It gives you plenty of warning as, on mine, it shows the next next maneuver so the arrow points forward and in the top left there will be a symbol like a tun left/right sign or a roundabout with the arrow going to the right (example). I have a tomtom one and people like ram mounts have a plate that holds it and lots of clamp together parts to connect it to virtually anything. Some satnavs have bluetooth so you could go that route but I never bothered. A bike satnav will cost many hundreds so a car one will do both for around a ton put 30 quid for the ram stuff (lots of bits on evilbay).
  17. Just having a browse on the interweb and there seem to be a few bargains on German evilbay at the moment. Here are some examples; Tank Inner metal fender Head Complete exhaust Just a note. Even if they say they don't ship to the UK. If you ask, a lot do. Be carful if they dont take Paypal as a bank transfer may cost you £20 or more. I have brought a lot of stuff from German ebay and not had one duff item yet but your risk if you go for anything. I just thought that some people may be interested.

I like tomtoms. No. Yes. Bike ones are expensive. Car ones can be used in a tankbag or look at ram mounts. Go into a big tescos, halfords or currys and have a play. Well worth the cash.
  19. Does the engine rev and this is not matched by the acceleration? Have you checked the exhaust to see if you have any leaks or loose bolts? Doubt if it is the air filter.
  20. Only assuming that he has fully comprehensive insurance. Otherwise he gets nothing apart from losing his no claims bonus and having to declare an accident. Not accurate as he was not under risk from that insurer therefore they can not pursue a claim that they have no risk on. Agreed, although he may save some on the excess (deductible) and does not have to declare an accident nor lose his No claim bonus which will affect the next few years premiums. It is a pretty bad situation especially as his renewal is due soon. With a witness I would just claim. The bonus on this is that the woman already seems to have a bad accident record so another claim may mean that she stops driving a big car and goes back to something she can handle. She obviously can not feel or hear (alarm) that she hit something. She may hit a biker on the move next and kill them.
  21. Hi and welcome. I have had 2 GSXf's, the teapot shape. Not bad bikes.
  22. So fuel is OK. Next are the sensors or a bad connection to them.
  23. All you ever need
  24. They haven't even said what year the bike is. I might have one in my shed but it is staying there.
  25. It is illegal to withhold but she will claim that it was not her - the witness helps here. No one was hurt so no need to necessarily stop just report it to the nick. I would be wary of claiming after a renew. The question will arise that says "Have to had an accident/claim in the last 3/5 years whether your fault or not". Depending on the wording you may be committing insurance fraud as the responsibility is yours to disclose anything that may affect the proposal. This could effect you new insurance and could really screw you if it gets recorded affecting any future mortgage, loan, job etc. I hold an enhanced criminal record check and counter terrorism check. Required for my current and previous jobs. This means that ALL criminal acts are supplied, there is no statute of limitations. You may not need anything like this now, but who know about the future. Do you want fraud on your file? Also how enthusiastic are the insurers going to be to pursue the claim as there is nothing in it for them.
