  1. I brought some new string ones the other day but took them back as they had holes in them. Now that IS true love. I have to do all my own braking
  2. Only if you want to fit the topbox onto the carrier
  3. Hi

Try High Beach in Epping Forest for bike meets, if you don't already know about it. Normally busy at weekends.
  4. I was going to say that if it got any warmer I would go out without my vest on

Unfortunately not BWJ. The local council is saving the cash for Diwali, the Elf & safety people have said no to drinking and congrgating in the street and the dustbin men have said that they will only collect the normal amount of recycling rubbish (every two weeks) so it will take 18 years to get rid of the extra cans.
  7. Can you; Cut the bar down? Fit the bar lenghways (not widthways)? Use a large washer? You can get Stainless Steel flat metal strips off evilbay which you could cut and drill to size if none of the above work LINKY. Remember the rack is not designed to take a lot of weight.

I can't do Squires this year as I will be in Frenchland. I do appreciate the offer of "tent sharing".......cough........ But last time I shared a tent, I couldn't sit down for a week I do hope to get one trip in this year, but realistically it may have to be next year. The good news is the TS WILL be finished and I will be looking for another classic (boss permitting) so a tasty Yam. I am still smitten by a TDR or XT500.
  9. Dent! Are you really sure. Most of my bikes but have come from there. Good luck.

True. Getting the Avon VP2's fitted tomorrow - £230 ride in, ride out. I will moan come August when I have ragged them and need another set. Tis right about the tea. On my 12th cup today at the moment. I do like my tea! I will watch the Military channel later (again) to see exactly how we won the war, just for reference, and I have survived another day Merv. Was my Birthday last week also. I guess I will never see 23 again
  11. A quick update. Called Swinton (my present supplier). They took my new details over the phone and wanted £146. They also said that the bike value would have to increase due to the modifications but their cover would be back to original. They didn't see to understand that a Scorpion exhaust is cheaper than an original Suzuki ????. Told then they quoted £105 online so they matched that and I went with them again. A couple of days later a got a renewal letter quoting £127. So covered now from May for the next year.

Well I can't make any rallys for the near future as I have received a nice, unexpected, tax bill for £1200. It also slows my TS rebuild. I still haven't brought my new trousers and one leg is now split up to the knee (they look so bad that Big Issue sellers are giving ME money). I need a new rear tyre so am going to get both changed and can't make up my mind between Avon Storm 2, Avon VP2 or Conti Sportattack's. So another £250 to find. My subscription to Classic Motorcycle Mechanics has finished. West Ham United are doomed for relegation. All the bikers have vanished now summer is over. Although I did P off a XJ6 rider this morning as I kept undertaking him on the bends. Moan over.
  13. I think Santa got your Grandson's and my presents mixes up. He is welcome to the socks as a straight swap. Welcome.
  14. Fashionably late eh!! As said previously, better late than never. Be prepared to want a bigger bike as soon as........., to be regularly getting your wallet out for bigger or better kit and to not being able to make your mind up on what are the best tyres/helmet/oil/clothing etc!
  15. I would be scared to ride that on the road with any kind of serious knobblie. If you are road riding (and can get the tyre sizes) I recommend Tourence EXP's. I can't say how good off road but great grip on the road.
  16. Double what ?? ?? ?? What happens when you try and put the bike into gear with the engine running?
  17. Consider the tyres as well as the rims. Some tyres are tube only, some are either and some are non tube fitment. The inside of a tubeless may be very rough which would burst a tube in short time. Also fitting a tube to a tubeless would probably overheat the tyre resulting in the tube failing. Rims vary and not all non spoke rims can take a tubeless due to the shape (as previously mentioned) or being porous and leaking air. If fitting tubes always go for the correct gauge as a tube that the too heavy duty can result in excess heat causing the tube to fail. There may be illegal tyre mixes as well depending on local laws in mixing radial and cross ply tyres.
  18. Given some of the horror prices, that sounds good. I guess that is the cheapest of the "compare" quotes.
  19. Thats 3D for you
  20. I spoke to the woman up the road who is always being caught soliciting. She said she knew nothing about insurance. She also would not give me a hour for free. If you have fully comp then it is in the insurers interest to get any claim cash back from her insurer, assuming they are not the same underwriter.
  21. Like an AA car check. They use company's like Carfax but because they have a different way of registration (all on the VIN not the reg) they have the opposite problem to us in that our DVLC search everything from the reg number they do everything from the VIN. shntat Just for the record, the Highway Patrol didn't introduce Standardisation of 17 digit VIN numbers. There is certain information that can be obtained from the shorter VIN but this may not tell you the bike history as I do not know how the USA registration works. Or if people like Carfax accept short versions of VIN numbers for checking. I would guess someone must do as there are a lot of USA members there who have older bikes and these have papers (Green slips???) and are registered in the States.
  22. That stutter is getting worse Drewps.
  23. How did that happen? Thanks, I have changed it.
  24. Great pics. Looks like a good do. Seaside, cafe and the smell of two stroke and candy floss............... Hmmmmmmmmmmm
