  1. That doesn't look too bad. The problem you have is getting into the area. Heat is good, but not near fuel!! a BIG pipe wrench, but you may be limited for space. I would think that a quality socket tapped on with a decent size breaker bar would still shift that. There is a huge difference in cheap sockets and decent ones. Even if you pop to Halfords and buy a single one from their professional range, 1/2 inch drive. I am a big believer of "brute strength and ignorance" but I like a little plusgas to go with that too. I will warn you that sometimes they will just not shift and you will hear of people telling you to weld a nut onto it and use the nut to undo it.
  2. The workshop is halfway down the main page. Lots of other good sections there as well. Just click the "forum" tab at the top of the page and then scroll down. A direct line to the workshop area is here LINKY
  3. Hi and welcome to the forum. Corrosion is the main reason the pump could be seized. I wouldn't take the top off unless I had to. drain everything, Plusgas the bores, not too much. Clean the carbs and tank and flush out the water changing the pump if it is definitely seized. try and turn the engine with the plugs out to see if things move around in the engine. new oil, water and fuel. A splash of fuel in each bore, plugs in and see what happens.
  4. With a mini being front wheel drive I would guess that the drive shafts would be in the way. RWD would work. I dont khow your level of engineering but things like rear wheel steering would take a massive effort in a mini. They are 2 subframes held together with a body shell. You would be better off by manufacturing a "chassis" which the shell could fit over. that way you could get into all the parts you needed without things getting in the way. get a front and rear subframe.and manufacture the chassis out of this. The chassis would then fit to the body using the original fitting points.
  5. Get it road registered and ride it to Squires. Now that would be amazing.
  6. Hi and welcome to the forum. It could be handy to know.
  7. Fitting bike engines to cars has been done for a long while in kit cars. There should be a wealth of knowledge if you research this area. I doubt that you would get much of the power down in a mini and would end up just spinning the tyres most of the time. The 2 biggest factors to overcome are the drive - chain to shaft - and the gearbox linkage - sequential. Busa engines seem to be liked for the kit car scene. Stonking power. Good luck.
  8. ok. the assumption is right. basically you would struggle to acceleratorate in top gear and the bikes revs would just drop. any hill would just see the bike slowing until you had to change down.
  9. I thought I posted a link to a 15 tooth sprocket. if you are going the rear sprocket route I would not alter it by more than 3 teeth. the engine will run out of legs with anything lower unless you are riding downhill and you will be constantly changing down, reving to hell out of the bike and then 6th will just be an overdrive gear and you will struggle to accelerate in that gear.
  10. I don't think the average petrol punter cares TBH. People go for the cheapest or the nearest, dependant on desperation. I see lots of ads for "cleaner" or "more miles per Litre" but I tend just to put in the cheapest. I do treat the bike to a bit of the Super duper one now and again but that is like buying the bike a pet treat. Couldn't tell if they work.
  11. Hi and welcome to the forum Terry. Check out the YOC trip to Squires this September thread in the rideout rally section. Pinned at the top.
  12. I like the shiny one. It always surprises me just how small bike pistons are.
  13. Have you seen Hirohito? I like my SV.
  14. Ohhhhh. A bit racist that Nev! Er yeh, really. I love them, don't know why, full of rubbish and smelly grease but I guess it's genetic. Mums English though so I am also partial to a nice cuppa and a rich tea biscuit.
  15. Not Italy mate, I would have the ride the bike in reverse. English and a Londoner as you should know due to my accent. That said there is a bit of "foreign" in me. I'll give you a clue. Why do Turkish blokes have moustaches? So they can look like their mums!
  16. Maybe you need to know what you are talking about before you throw accusations around! It this post had been about an Italian going from one place to another in Italy and I had made the same comment, would you have thrown in the "racist" card? - I don't think so!!! Soppy left wing, woosy PC values have already ruined this Country. I hope you are glad making your valued contribution. To those on the forum who have met me - This is quite funny really, seeing my ethnic heritage. No wat I meen.
