    The damn rain

The bike gets cleaned while you ride. Can't see what the fuss is all about. Much worse after a few dry days and then a light shower. It lifts all the oil of the road surface and gets very slippy. At least it isn't cold. In a few months I will be moaning about how cold my fingers are getting riding in January.
  2. It does look nice Sacha. I had a subscription as a Xmas pressie a few years back but it was very repetative and I do agree about the bikes changing too much. My better half just brought it back from a trip to tescos because it had a DT on the front cover. That works for me!
  3. 1) Check the battery to make sure that it is holding a full charge. Will it start wih a different battery? Leave the spark plugs out overnight. Make sure it has fresh petrol and the spark plugs are clean and correctly set. Choke, no throttle and push the starter. If it doesnt start pour a small amount of engine oil into each cylinder through the spark plug hole. Dry and refit the spark plugs and try to start it again. 2) Check the compression on the cylinders. If it still doesnt start. 3) Check, clean and adjust the carb and choke. See if there are any splits in the carb rubber inlet mounting (a common fault).

  8. To all of the US members on here. Happy 4th July.
  9. Those are fine providing they go under the bike when the bike is on the floor. My experience is that you need to lift the bike onto them before you use the lift. All about ground clearance.
  10. I wouldn't use cup fittings. The bike can slide along and off them. My preferred option would be to use an Abba stand and a universal swingarm removal kit - but it is a lot of cash. Another alternative is to look for a lift like this LINKY I got mine from evilbay from a local guy for about £20.
  11. If you can get bobbins on it, I can't see why not.
  12. I have just changed my car to a nice brand new Qashqai +2. I have already put a "bike aware" sticker in the rear window.
  13. I use powersportsplus for OEM parts. I have 3 parcels on their way at the moment and some stuff still on back order. Quick shipping for me in the UK too.

    where's Kev?

I was thinking the same over the weekend. His diplomatic charm has been missed. Also just in case BWJ is lurking - It would be great to get him back. Jim!
  15. A bit of age, for me, is the best way to go. The TDR needs looking after if only for the fact that it is one of the very few models that will always have a following. I am happy to admire the "out of the crate look" but it IS about enjoying the bike by getting it on the road and putting miles on it. "Scrap bike" how very dare you!!! The TS is never going to be perfect, it was about saving it. It is a very stupid idea to get a bike in such bad condition and throw thousands of pounds at it. knowing that it will never look like a £3k bike. To be honest, that doesn't worry me and I will probably do the same again when the TS is finished. Anyone got a Yam 2 stroke project that is too much for them? I might be interested.
  16. Make sure the one you buy has the pistons in. I always pump out the pistons to change the seals and clean if I am having similar problem. If there are 2 pistons, the easiest way to do it is pump the lever and one piston normally moves more than the other. I clamp that one and get the other close to coming out and then clamp that and pump the other. As soon as one piston is out it is a bugger to get the remaining one out if you don't do it that way.
  17. I had a GSXR750 nicked once. When I got it back I think the thieves did the same thing on it. Everything was full of clay.
  18. Not my favorite but..................................
