Fab story and pictures Pat. 'tis a beautiful part of the world.

Spoke to the wheelbuilder today. The first wheel is built and the second will be built by the weekend, he was waiting for the hub paint to dry. He said that he was struggling to get the tyres I wanted in the sizes I need. He could get the front one but there were none of the rears in the Country (?) I think that it was down to the imperial sizes. I was looking at TW301/TW302's which are advertised on the Tinterweb but the rims are no good without some rubber so I said either put Conti TKC80's or Michelin T63's on it. Imperial or metric sizes are fine but match the pair. Hopefully I can collect them next Friday.

Tried neither Drewps, so far. He has until next weekend to give me a date.

Cheers. I may just strip it and leave it with "character ".

Hi and welcome to the forum Andy.

Just paint would be my choice. Others may differ.
-
Paint for me. Nothing worse on hubs for me than yellow, lifting old lacquer.

The stanchions will end up at pittedforks after September for some hard chroming. I have one set broken down ready to go already. The fork lowers have had a few coats of hammerite silver. Did them yesterday.

Flat screwdriver always works for me for seals.block of wood under the shaft and the flat of the driver into the inner hole. Lever out. You can get posh ones like this LINKY

Doesn't he play for Exeter Town? Cheers Nev but I can't do "art & crafts". I can see me ending up kicking it around the garden in frustration.
-
That looks OK Nev. What brand was that cheers?
-
Cheers. That's what I was afraid of.

As the title really. I have a chromed front mudguard which was painted yellow. I am in the process of stripping it and it has a certain patina in places (light rustng). Although it is solid and worth re chroming in the future, I am in two minds as to leave it for the short term or give it a couple of coats of chrome spray. Any views?

I would be worried about the metal parts. Is the choke fixable? What is wrong with it? Have you tested the compression? If you are not going to go an engine strip, I would look at fixing the choke first - assuming the engine has compression.

That is very cheap. Well done for the CBT pass.

I haven't.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Steering lock - look here Neutral light - assuming you are in neutral and the light isn't coming on. Check the bulb hasn't blown and then the wiring.
-
I didn't take them to CW but the guy I took them to said it would be about 6 weeks. If they are going to be much longer I will have them back - assuming he hasn't cut all the spokes out - and just get some tyres on them. 3 months for a re-spoke, that is taking the P*ss.
-
Took them in for new rims, spokes, tyres etc. Called the shop a couple of weeks ago and they were still waiting for the rims to rebuild them. I will call them next week and start to push. I know that they get the parts from Central Wheels. It's been over 7 weeks now now and is outside of my control. I suppose the good thing is I haven't paid for them yet and still a lot to do.

Quick update. Ticks over really well but still no wheels. Tidied forks drying on the left.
