Cheers. Some good advice. The chain is a 525 as standard and does have a split link so off in a flash (Gordon). I could jump in the car and get a new one today but will order one via the post. When I said ridable, that would be without a seat and I haven't put the footrests back on yet. It is nowhere near roadworthy yet. I know that we in the UK are lucky in that respect that we live on a small island so nowhere is too far to go to get something. I can drive anywhere in the country in less than a day. It does seem that all the good parts are your side of the pond and I have ordered stuff from Canada before but it takes forever to arrive here.

Problem with clutch not disengaging, YZ125 '00
Sounds about right. Have a look at the link LINKY Looks like number 20 turns and pulls on number 11 which disengages number 8. When you took the clutch cover off, did you note the position of item 25 relative to something on the bike? If you can feel pressure when you pull the clutch in then is sounds like items 11 & 20 are engaging. What you need to do is take off item 25 and then move it a little further away from the front of the bike. This shouldn't be too tricky as item 20 should be sitting in a locating hole in the clutch cover so: Off with items 26, 27 and 25 noting where 25 is at the moment. replace 25 a little further from the front of the bike and replace 26 & 27. Being careful of the spring (24). Refit the cable and test it. Good luck.

Cheers. It is still a bit rough in parts but much better then when I brought it. I was looking to grind down the peened part if I took the links out as it is 525 chain. I will probably get another chain now. A bit gutted because I am close to getting it ridable (around the garden at least). Just hoping that I don't have to mess with the carb settings or it need a new clutch. I won't have a chance to give it a good shakedown before Squires, assuming It gets finished.

Update, Decided I really need to get on with this if it is going to Squires. I thought the electrics were done, but I was wrong. Neutral light wasn't working - just the bulb so changed that. Still sorting the headlight and clock illumination - I will post a separate thread re: RD400 headlights later. Went to put the front sprocket on - the lock washer was wrong. Sorted now so that is on. Front wheel plate assembled and front wheel on. Went to fit the new front brake cable but they sent me a clutch cable. Gave the new chain a good dose of chain lube. went to fit it and it is too long; by 4 links. So I either have to buy a chain splitter or get the right size chain. All the ones on ebay seem to be 104 links but the Suzuki workshop manual says 100 links! So 4 hours later and the front wheel and the front sprocket are on! Not a good day. Oh yeh, put the side stand on. The bike looks like this at the moment.

Hangers off
Pop over to evilbay and search for; "universal exhaust hanger" - should be something that takes your fancy. "exhaust strap" may give you different options.

What now, next steps? Advice Please.
Can't help with the cost. Use your favorite search engine. I can't remember what my test cost but I just rode around the block a few times. Focus on the test then look around.

Fantastic but very temperamental. Get a weekly bus pass as well because chances are you will need it. Test will nearly always get harder and more expensive so bite the bullet now and it opens the door to a lot more choice.

think my bike is scared of me...
Easily done. I did it the other day! It must be fuel. It can't burn anything else. Are all the jets sitting right and any rubber grommets in the carb OK?
-
Help Please.
Does it have an inline fuel filter? A filter between the tank and the carb or is it just a rubber pipe? I would take off the carb. Strip it, clean all of the jets and check the float height. I would also take off the fuel petcock (fuel tap) and strip and clean this too.

Hi Everyone. Can anyone help me fix my bike?
Start a thread in the workshop section that can be found on the front page about two thirds down the page. You will need to explain what the symptoms are; Does it start? Does it run? Does it tick over? Have you ever had it running? Is there fuel in it and is it fresh? Does it kick over? Do you get lights when you turn on the ignition? That kind of stuff. The better you explain what the issues is, the easier it is to help. In the workshop area.

Country/regional threads?
Grand idea. I am off to put a couple of posts in the secret paid members area now. The titles will be: "how fast does my bike go". & "how to make my DT do a trillion MPH"

Noooooo sacha. Hammerite is a brand name. Don't get hammer finish as this is a ripple finish and you need smooth finish. I don't think it is exported to the us. Have a look at www.thepaintstore.com and search for hammerite rust cap smooth enamel aluminium. Remember smooth Www.tcpglobal.com and search for hammerite. The product number is ham42205 this looks the same but down to you. I am sure that someone from the uk would send you a tin if you were after the exact stuff i brought.

Nooooo. On the home page look at the bottom right for links to that kind of stat. So were mine Sacha. £20 worth of new rubber from the good ol USA. The silver goes on really easily by the way.
